Nice work, and that was pretty quick!

What's your opinion of the new models? I'm waiting for the regular box set to come out since I already bought the hardcover rulebook and don't 'need' the BRB. I'm really looking forward to the Cultist models.

Thanks! I just started painting and got so into it. I noticed despite my mostly silver scheme I didn't have a silver chaos lord so I went that route.

I like the new models. The details in the new chosen models are really nice and the Hellbrute is rather pleasing to the eyes as well if you don't mind the smooth fleshy look which I have noticed others are not so happy about. Only problem I had was when putting them together.
once put together some parts would look great and others had gaps that needed to be corrected and at times it felt like They just didn't go. I got them to fit but with the hell brute it just felt more difficult than it should of been. On the other hand I only know two others who got theirs and one said it fell into place and the other had the same issue so who knows what's going on there. Were probably incompetent

I needed the rule book so I used that as an excuse to justify buying the limited editon set.
Honestly the cultist are my favorite part of the box set. I tried not to look at any previews but hoped they weren't just guardsmen with spikes and I'm rather happy with them. To me their prisoners liberated from incarceration by the forces of chaos I really like the model wearing the Commissar jacket but I'm sure plenty of people do.

I heard something along the lines that if I use Lord Typhus my cultist will be 'zombies' and have ' feel no pain'. That seems like something to have fun with.

That's really cool that you're digging the new miniatures. All I've seen so far is GW pics and some pics on eBay. I hHave been avoiding the nerdrage forums about how much everything sucks (new rules, higher prices, bad models) because I've found over time that in general everything sucks for them and I frequently disagree. Looking forward to being able to decide for myself. GW box set miniatures have traditionally been less detailed and have some minor assembly issues (gaps, etc) than the later releases but the standard is still improving from release to release (in my opinion).

I'm very excited that GW finally recognized Cultists again. That's been a raw issue for me for a long time as there are literally millions and millions of Cultists throughout the known worlds of the Imperium, and in the Eye of Terror there are entire wolds of them. And I really miss my Genestealer Cult.

I haven't read up on Typus and how he interacts w/ Cultists. I'll wait for the Codex. Last word from my FLGS is October. Ugh. More waiting.

Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

finally returned home and found the time to put up some photos yay! my light broke for some of them so i questioned the quality of the pictures even if they look like most of the pictures i post here anyway lol. well yeah.

tried two different color schemes on them, first was a screamer pink + Brown motif to play toward a desert theme and then a blue + blue motif just cuz i had the extra paints and they seemed to look nice next to each other on the shelf.
instead of picking just one color im thinking of doing both, one color scheme for sect tetcvar and another sect anarkus. . or perhaps do random? not totally sure yet.

having cultists as an option makes me regret giving away a box of random guard bits
oh well. cant wait to see the new codex to see what options they have regardless lol. would be fun to see a cultist HQ.

oh heres a question.
when i first saw the dark angel terminator armor from the dark vengeance box set i automatically thought pre-Hersey Emperors children. im curious if that seems accurate to others and if there are any suggestions on how to change the iconography to better match the Emperors children (if at all possible)

Wow you have been busy! The Cultists look great!

No idea about the DA looking like EC. I'm just going to trade mine off when I get them for more CSM / Cultists.

I see, I'm entertaining the same idea now I have the new codex to see how cheap and useful fodder cultist can be. What's your opinion of the new codex and war gear set up?

Soon I might take photos of my tanks. I went over them with a little bit of shaky hand details and I swear I can't tell if it helped or not lol.
Been painting chosen between odd jobs, my dark vengeance dual lightning claws chosen ended up in the jowls of a warp born yorkie he will live.

well hello
i have little direction lately but i managed to do something with my tanks. a little detailing/scraping. something to make them look a little worn.
sort of like they took old black legion tanks and painted over some parts leaving the warn black as is. sort of like not wanting to waste the black paint if its already black lol.

my new Vindicator Tank!!

That's some nice work on the Vindacator! Your army is coming along nicely.

My initial reaction to the new CSM codex is the same vanilla feel to it, a lot of unnecessary / unneeded stuff added, and my ENTIRE army has been reduced to an Elite choice. I'm going to work on terrain and maybe some basic vanilla CSM for my Red Corsairs and / or Black Legion.

The Cultists are a welcomed return, but they are so limited. I'm thinking their entire purpose is to be a Meat Shield. With that in mind I'm going to build an entire army out of them. I'm going to play a couple 'blob army' games to see if I like it. I have a feeling I'm going to lose on an epic scale.

Maybe Im wrong but doesn't it say if you play typhus or a chaos lord with the mark of nurgle that plague marines are consider troop choices not as elites. So there is a way to do it.
I have slight issues with the lack of daemon weapon options or rather the lack of wiggle room with the type of daemon weapons that can be taken. I'm just glade my Khorne HQ came with a axe with a ugly grin lol.

The cultists are pure meat shields. I had hoped they had more options than shown in the DV box set perhaps borrowing from the imperial guard or even having their own unique additions. Maybe even a psyker HQ option with the new psyker abilities. But we have what we have.
Im not sure how to feel about the Lord Typhus 'zombie' option, fearless, slow and purposeful and feel no pain with the drawback of no upgrades and all losing their pistols and gaining two CCW. I'll most likely use my limited numbers as fill in on my attempt at a low point Army.
That blob army sounds really fun as well as destined to be slaughtered horrifically. But fun lol. Tell me how that Goes!

Khorne Dreadnought/Helbrute

here is my Khorne dedicated dread. i personally like solid gold on red so this was fun. Have CCW with flamer, Twin Link Las cannon and Twin Link Heavy Bolter.
so with little more delay i give to you a daemonic war machine

Blood for the Blood God indeed. That's a pretty gory base. I can hear the 'squish' as he steps.

haha truly! you would imagine a Dreadnought dedicated to khorne would just be dripping with gore one way or another. not to sure if they bother to hose off their rhinos let alone their [more] mentally unstable brothers encased in a walking death machine.

working on my plague marines and hope to have something to show soon [they all are missing backpacks but screw it]
for now what is next to display is a little more Khorne love with my Chaos lord/Kharn the betrayer proxy!

bah .. in the middle of trying my hand at different things. my nurgle marines are giving me grief as im unsure how to go about applying chains to create a 'cape' look without it looking tacky. it seemed like a good idea to get out of having to buy backpacks lol.

next are some Dark Vengeance set conversion i have tried my hand at.

Librarian = Sorcerer.
easy enough jump. more so since my last convert of a chaplin fits rather nicely as a dark apostle so i am in need of a magic slinger.

paint makes it look a bit dirty but yeah. trying to work around the front flap of its chest being cut off before i got my hands on it (i traded the one i got initially away) as i got it from a friend. the sword of demon fire just makes me happy.

now for the champions crafted from the DV.
damned things are DRENCHED in dark angel icons.

this one wields my attempt at making a combi-flamer

now the terminators.

attempt at 'sculpting' fur.. figured it might come out looking ratty which isnt bad for chaos but it looks all mossy. maybe its the green? maybe when i paint it it will look better lol. first try. i did more and tried to make up for lack of shoulder pads with it. bad call lol. =D here is hoping it looks better when i get to finishing them.

to go along with my fluff they will be painted necron abyss and have the chaos star painted onto their armor as 'elite' new converts with just scattered chaos bits on their loyalist armor. so if they dont look chaos maybe they will when reaching completion.

wow it has been some time i could work on my army. starting to become a pattern i seriously need to break out of.. i mostly try to keep this blog thing up for my own benefit and my recent hospitalization has given me a chance to slow down (against my will) andwork on a couple of things so ill share them here.

i tried to do a rust effect by mixing brown and orange, watering it down until it was like a wash. then a dry brush of black and boltgun metal. im uber surprised my paints are mostly still usable!

this is my nurgle lord former Brother Sargent Ameleo now Plague Lord Malady
he looks dark angels because he is. pretty much to go with the fluff im trying to work on.
rusty lightning claws to pass on whatever nasty thing he has brewing inside himself.

and here is a random paint job i did to kill the time.
