Yay Sounds like you've gotten your list sorted out then!

Back to working on the generators for a bit while I wait for more stuff. I did end up ordering the hornets and they shipped yesterday.

Got a second chariot base for the other generator on the way as well.

Continuing along while waiting for the hornets. Might pick up the next lot of wraithguard this week as well.

Nice one. The blue around the vents and exhaust on the wave serpent is very understated.

How many hornets did you order?

Only two, thought having like a spearhead like two wave serpents with two hornets for the flanks would actually look pretty cool.

Another idea I've been thinking of for a while and probably mentioned before is for howling banshees. Though I can't really think of how to get them working.
Had the idea of using the witch elves as the base and going from there.

Stuff like making the masks and getting weapons for them, making them fit in a bit. But got another idea, my seers can take daemonology. Seems stupid that they can summon daemonettes, but had the idea what if I made units like howling banshees a bit but instead of putting them in the list and trying to build around them a bunch to actually get them to work better what if the seer just brings them out of a webway portal or something like that. Heralds can just be exarchs and if it somehow gets the greater daemon, well they have to sacrifice someone to activate an avatar anyways.

Didn't have much time for painting today, but picked up something on the way home.

Going to go with a suncannon and scatter laser on this one, thinking as well I might make it a bit different to the default one. Like leave out a few of the armour plates and such to give it a lighter appearance since with that loadout it is the long ranged type in my opinion. While I see the default as a sort of all around and the sword is obviously melee. If I built one with a sword I'd probably look at bulking it up a bit more. Maybe even a different sword.

Ooh, another one Big vehicles and walkers are always so fun to paint, unlike infantry >.> for me, at least.

Are you going to add any blue plasma glow to the generator?

Not really, it's just easier to continue with an army you have then make new ones when you have a gf.

Originally I wasn't going to, but the outer fin parts I think would work really well with it.

Continuing on with it. I have the next layer of pink basically done so can get started on the white.

As for the wraithknight I just finished putting it together.

As for the back here going with the sleeker look I've hopefully managed to give this, the middle parts where they would usually have those barrel things. I'll be looking as some of the parts from the wave serpents to see if I can get some sticks like the bottom ones to put in the middle instead.

Yeah the crevasses of the "fins" would work very well with it.

Generator is getting there. Need to clean up the white then clean up the edges of the pink, do the OSL and it should be done.

But that wraithknight is taking my attention at the moment.

And to further add to the fun the hornets arrived this morning. Haven't even built them yet, but looking at the kit it looks nice and easy. Like maybe 2-3 parts and the weapons. Also cause I'll be going with the pulse load out it means I have some heavy weapon sprues so for once if I want to do some fancy load out I don't have to track down weapons.

Not much of an update cause busy with work, but got the hornets together so figured I'd get a quick picture of them.

I'll have to remember to take a picture of them later with wave serpents and such to show size better. Since when I was thinking of getting them I looked and it took ages to find even one comparison.

Started working on the white before finishing the pink off. It'll actually be easier to clean up edges this way in my opinion.

But at the moment the pink is at the emperor's children stage, still has vgc squid pink, 1:1 squid pink to white then white to go.

Seeing the complaining and such for the Eldar at the moment as well as having painted so much pink lately and seeing how my army is, as far as I know, invalidated currently I've decided to take a short break from the Eldar to revisit another project I had been messing around with ideas for since sometime during 5th edition; Tau.

Since I started 4th I liked the look of the crisis suits, but they seemed kind of bad at the time, having an army entirely of them was impossible at the time and lately thinking on it I've developed ideas for it a bit further. There's been times when I've tried but given up on small Tau forces (this would actually be the 3rd attempt on them after some fun stuff like converting up some drones with the idea of making a drone based army, which I believe was given up on as the new wraithguard came out at the time. ).

It's also a good reason to use this scheme again to match my dice.

Decided the theme to go along with these Tau would be to have them as a sort of experimental cadre, giving a good excuse to do random conversions and such. So I started by getting a box of crisis suits and painting up that gundam hangar I've had around since the knight.

Why the hangar? So I could have an interesting backdrop again for pictures as I go along. Since I used to make a board and use stuff in the background for pictures before.

And every XV8 actually comes with a markerlight drone if you pay attention.

If I manage to get the ideas I'm coming up with to work it should be a pretty interesting army.

So I'm happy with both the list and the first squad I've built. No painting yet and may have noticed the lack of bases still, but that's cause I'm waiting for them to arrive still.

I think I'll stop the backdrop for a bit cause it seems to force the pictures to be smaller. I've been using my S3 to take pictures for a while now and need to find the setting in it to make it work better for macro instead of focusing on this new backdrop.

Anyway I wanted these to look slightly, very slightly, more armoured to reflect their close ranged role. The things on the back, originally I was looking at the parts from the drone to fit onto the dome part as a sort of experimental generator idea, it was too annoying to flaten down the lower half of the drone for this and it eventually led to this idea. It's simply the lower half of a gundrone, the pulse carbines trimmed and cut down to look more like antennae as sort of an improved sensor array thing. It's not glued in place yet.

Also the list currently, works out to exactly 1500 points using the Farsight suppliment.

Here's the first XV8, Kah'mi, basically done though the base won't be here until ~monday.

Planning on naming every suit in the army and keeping track of their performance in game. They mostly take names from friend's I've asked, I was going to go with more customisation and basically let them build a suit to represent themselves more; but in the end this probably works out best anyway.
Also have a pretty nice idea for kroot, but no room for them in the list at the moment.

That gundam hanger appears to have a decent scale for 40k models...

What scale is it and what is it called? and is it pricy?
