What I want to do with it, I cannot do simply by converting Vik... which means I scratch build it... or, scrap the idea entirely and try something else.

Basically,I want the tail whirling as the whole model flies through the air.

It's still doable... but I need to buy some rod and sculpt from scratch for it.

yup, thats the plan, the maw is closed on it alread, one of the first things I did... was trying to get the tail right but it just wasnt working they way I had hoped. so as I say, need to buy some thick wire.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Well I'm in two minds.. I either want it about to plough into the ground, or... just leaving the ground as if making a jumping strike on the enemy...

the way their fluff describes them are worms. but something so huge and powerful wouldnt move like a worm as the way a worm moves is slow and exceedingly sluggish. a snake fits its movement better. so either piling into the ground or launching from it is what I want... I know its possible. its just processing it properly before I make a move on it again.

I think the shrikes will get done before I go back to the Mawloc No.2.

ah ok... didn´t see the image last time i looked...

and the idea of a diving mawloc sounds great...

the way i would do it sounds like you imaginied it... wire for all the then sawed apart joints of the tail... drill them then wire inside and then rearange the tails as needed... sounds like a fair amount of work... but i bet making a unique model is something that you don´t get the cheapo way

inspiration is something of a devil, eh?

by the way... i would rather look for dragons then snakes and such like... i know there are no dragons... but still we have a mental image of their movements...

snakes suit the Mawloc more I feel, and besides... I used dragons as inspiration for the Flyrant

Well I tried segmenting the tail already, but it just doesnt work with how the original was sculpted unfortunately... so it's a complete sculpt... which is a challenge, but one I'm up for.

I think I'll just finish the Shrikes off for now I feel... as I love how they look and where they are going... plus I'd like to paint them so they can sit nicely besides the Flyrant

well Mawlocs were only a 5th ed codex entry. iirc they didnt exist anywhere before that.

Trygons only came into the codices in 5th ed but were around in epic 40k for years.

I love the worms

thanks dude!!! I hope so lols...

childe, it is only modeling mate! it should be a sunny heart warming experience. Unless of course the GS isnt working right, and keeps drooping, ect. Then you take a big stick and beat the ever living crap out of your model. Then start from scratch all over again, until you get the look you want.

but why wouldnt people be happy with my green stuffing the tails... I'm lost... if it was a joke... it wasnt funny lols

feth sake it was not intended as a joke I was saying looking at the necron parts they would obviously make a great starting section for tails, however a lot of people are frightened of by green stuff sculpting so therefore would not bother with it.

So no joke intended more an observation as to the parts you were using

Hope that clears that one up

Those shrikes are inspired mate. Much more aestheticly pleasing then the stock models.

The paint on the HT is great! The tones are natural yet still alien enough to draw interest and the basing has a lot of elements harmonised by the paint scheme so they don't over power the model.

I could gush more, but I'll let you get back to arguing about Lols

Lols, it's for my Protectorate of Calliope list LDD, for which I got rid of the SoB as a full list, and replaced them with an Air Force, but will have an allied contingent of SoB with them

the list is on the front page. I do like how I can do an air force with the guard list now

P.s. no he can't be your friend too... I did some work for him and he's owed me for some time, so this is payment with interest. it was his suggestion so, I won't say no lols... tbh it'll only lead to me doing some other bits for him too
