I've finally started my own Infinity plog, starting with WIP pictures of the Tuareg sniper I couldn't get done in time for the painting challenge. Expect mostly Haqqislam in future.

Don't have a Nomad blog yet so i'm just posting this around Dakka to get feedback. Thoughts?

For comparison:

It's a definite improvement. As much as I want to love the Szalamandra, it suffers from the 'art is cooler than model' syndrome.

I really don't like the normal sculpt.

That definitely makes it look a lot better. As long as you're going to do a little bit of work on the 'head' and things for some more detail.

Thanks man, detail is deffo something i need to think about now, i'm glad i didn't rush it for the comp. I' going to freehand some details which'll break it up but i haven't decided what modeling details need to be added yet. Ideas are welcome.

The sunken sensor clusters are a big thing for Infinity. I'm thinking something on the head, and then clusters on the chest as well. Extra points if they're asymetrical.

If i know what you mean then that's a great idea. Got a picture to clarify though?

No worries man, the tech stuff is just repetition, you'll figure it out eventually.

For future reference, when you need to 'link' to another page, just go to the other page and 'copy' the stuff in the 'address bar' at the top. Then go to where you want to 'link' it and 'paste' it in.

Absolutely beautiful looking model, I love the folds of cloth and shading you have achieved. Space Templars is a wonderful idea as well!

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it! The cool thing about De Fersen is that, according to the fluff, he was a Templar once but, since Templars were prosecuted, he ended up being a Hospitallier.

@Alpharius: It's all a matter of patience and thin brushes XD. Actually I used a 000 brush for the cross on his robe, but for the face details I had to use the 00000 one.

My advice for freehands is to start with a really thin line of paint, almost invisible. Mix a lot of water with the paint and remove most of the paint on a paper. Then, start painting a thin line where you want to paint your pattern. If you make mistakes, it's easier to correct them as the line is almost invisible. Once you're feeling confident about the design, it's time to paint the patter, using the thin lines as a reference

I've had a few updates on my shasvastii as well. I'm pretty happy with how they are coming. Next up is Gwailo with Spitfire, three seed soldiers, and possibly the remotes.
