That's great news! I think Ed and Harry were waiting for me to get back to Dakka to be honest Alph, hence the long wait.

The Hirst Arts Mold Chemical Factory instructions really have me itching for my Adriana table. Would be perfect for an industrial outpost, only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is the initial ~$125 price tag.

Go with this one from Pegasus Hobbies then:

Available from The Warstore:

In fact, I'm glad you brought this up, as I've now put it on my 'wish list' for my eventual Infinity table at my house...

The Pegasus kits are great for the price i have a couple on my list too. I've been looking at wargaming tables online but i haven't seen anything particularly inspiring yet. Has anyone seen some sort of 'hidden' table before? Something that comes out of a coffee table maybe?

I'm still planning for a Bourak table. Zuzzy Sulfur Fields mat painted in sandy colours, Warmill terrain painted in a dirty sandy style, some roads from Galeforce 9 Battlefield in a box, and a bunch of random scatter terrain. Once Warmill get their huge buildings up for sale, it shouldn't cost too much.

It's not easy working out where to go with infinity tables unless you want a specific board just for infinity. I'm trying to work out a generic board that i can use for various Skirmish games such as Malifaux, Freebooter's fate, Muskets & Tomahawks, FOW and a bit of 40K (occasionally). I'm hoping to do a natural wilderness board that can be used for all with a lot of rocks, gullies, hills, crevices and woods etc for the base board which makes it suitable for everything else (apart from Infinity and 40K). The trick is to find a way of then adding "infinityness" to it. I'll hopefully use the Warmill roads, pods and buildings (all raised/elevated) so it looks like a settlement or outpost - however has anyone seen anything similar that i can get some inspiration from????

I'd really like to do a mall table for Infinity. Have a food court area and then a large open promenade with an upper level and escalators. Rely mostly on scatter terrain and kiosks for cover, it'd be awesome if done properly.

Jesus man! If you make a board that can do all of those things, then please let me know!

Just kidding, I understand what kind of thing you have in mind. For example if you went for some kind of natural-looking environment - lots of trees, rivers and rock formations etc. then can work for any game. For Infinity specifically you will need more of it, and of course no 'swiss cheese' style 40k terrain.

As it happens I've just made a 'city' type board, which obviously has limited applications outside of Infinity and a select few other games that share the systems visual aesthetic, but I'm porting over some of it (the MAS buildings etc.) to another forest/countryside type table I'm making as well. I guess there would be nothing to stop you getting a couple of MAS/Scarissa/Warmill buildings for Infinity, some old-fashioned ones for Malifaux/Freebooter's fate etc. then subbing them in depending on what game you are playing.

The only thing you might have a problem adapting is FoW, specifically because of the 1/100 scale - unless you have an incredibly generic desert type table (with some rock piles or something) then it will be very difficult to make it look convincing.

I'll start work on this one soon as possible and post some pics as I go. I have a new games room at home to furnish and I want it to look the nuts

I think the plan will be as Pacific suggest to go for the board as a natural environment as the base board itself cutting in LOTS of crevices, crags, rocks, woodlands and natural hiding places - sort of like this one http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=12619.90 but maybe more "sandy" like so it's more Mediterranean / desert's edge and with a lot more built in gullies, but I'll need to leave some space for buildings etc so I can then theme it for Infinity / Freebooter / Malifaux. I'm hoping Warmills new roads will enable me to create enough height to allow them to travel over some of the built in features and therefore create a 2-tier gaming surface in certain areas. Their high pods and other bits will certainly make it do-able.

I might just leave FOW and 40K off or create a bland board i can intermix otherwise it could look a bit too generic.

Well that's me busy for the next 3 months!

If any of my fellow forum travellers have come across anything inspiring whilst browsing drop a link on this thread as I'm going to need some inspiration to get this done and looking good!

Possibly useful terrain and random models, maybe some half decent civilians?
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FW

Definitely looks like useful terrain for inside buildings:
Bank Vault

Safety Deposit Boxes

Bank Counter

Bio-Hazard Doors

Big Bank Set

Medical Examination Room

Science Lab

Hi-Tech Research Lab

I doubt i'll buy much of this if any but it's giving me loads of inspiration!

Warmill continues to impress me. Just take a look at their upcoming modular building set:

Between that and the Noodle shop I really need to place an order sometime in the future.

Yes that is a thing of beauty.. going to take pride of place when it's released as some kind of science lab (possibly Haqqislam?) for the Paradiso board I'm making..

I had the same idea for that building. A Paradiso board centerpiece with jungle plants clinging to it.
That reminds me. I need to make some Paradiso terrain. To the Aquarium plant store!

Stupid buildings, you'd think we'd have learnt not to show stuff off before we've got it all done by now! Currently there's a regular hab pod, a larger shop pod, an observation pod that's going to double as an elevator, and a small addon to let you join two stacks together by the same walkways as the PUPs.

Any specific moduiles people would like let us know and we'll look at trying to accomodate them, they won't be ready until the new year (we've got some super sexy space corridors to release first) so there's time to get those ideas in!

If I wanted to buy a bunch of sarissa terrain for infinity, how much
of it would be good to have and which items would you recommend
work well for the game? I have it in my head that I would want to
play someday, but the game seems like it needs terrain and I
want to see if terrain would be enough to get me interested in playing.

Yes terrain is very important in Infinity Malfred. Generally they advise in the rules that you don't have more than 8" between each terrain piece - you will soon find out if you play, anything trying to cross a gap like that with guns shooting at them will fair as well as if they tried that in real life .. Furthermore, you need terrain that blocks LOS, rather than ruins or rubble which won't offer anything like as good protection.

Some of the more popular 'kit built' HDF terrain buildings are from Sarissa, Micro Arts Studio, and Warmill who are all roughly comparable in terms of price, each with their own benefits and style. Here are some links for you:
Sarissa Infinity system: http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/store/system8/
Micro Arts (you can usually buy this from FLGS/distributors as well): http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/designed-for-infinity-c-78.html
Warmill: http://www.warmill.co.uk/

So there is a great deal of cool stuff out there! In terms of price, it's a difficult one. For my board (below in spoiler tags) I've mixed MAS, Sarissa and scratch-built terrain. For everything, including the wood to make the board, paints, and various bits, pieces and accessories I probably spent about £100. But, a friend contributed with some of it (if you're going to be playing in a group, it definitely makes sense to chip as you are going to be sharing the battlefield anyway right?)

Spoiler:

IMO Infinity has some of the coolest terrain going - a number of quite talented design guys have come up with some great ideas to the point now where we are spoiled for choice, and the fan community has taken it a stage further with some truly awesome (or insane, depending on how you look at it!) ideas for electrically powered boards, fully furnished apartment buildings and anything else you can imagine.

Terrain is so important in Infinity - I guess that is why such a range of stuff has appeared (its not enough to chuck down some trees and call it a day). Correspondingly it can also be expensive (if you go OTT with the pre-made HDF kit route), but depending on how you view it you could say its money that you are not having to spend on miniatures as Infinity has a relatively low entry cost to play.

Hope that helps, was there anything else you wanted to know about?

Pacific that is a gorgeous table man! But too clean and sterile! I would love to add some weathering to your MAS buildings..not too much, but just a bit.

Yeah, I've played a demo. I like to characterize Infinity as everything
Overwatch all the time. If you move, you will get shot at.

I even have some Haqqislam minis painted up! I'm just short on
time to play everything I'd like.

What I'd like to know is how useful things like gantries and multi-level
buildings are in practice. For instance, I used to play Necromunda,
I never felt that crazy internal platform systems were very useful.
You basically had a big shooting gallery.

no...just slightly ..Tasteful weathering.
I know the architecture of cities in the Human Sphere is all high-tech and sleek-looking, but I always saw the prefab-type buildings as rougher settlements.

Pacific, that table looks amazing. I wish you lived closer to me so that I could play on a table that looks as cool as that. I was wondering how well the various manufacturers terrain integrates with each other on the same board? I like the buildings available from MAS now but will be buying the new stuff from Warmill as soon as he makes it available. As a completely new player of Infinity and a new buyer of terrain I just want to get my money's worth.

I agree with Dave, some degree of weathering would do it good. I mean rain and dust still exist in the human sphere. Don't go for rusted through walls or anything. The Sarissa buildings are just right. The MAS buildings look unfinished i.e. primed white.
