Does anyone make a correlian corvette in this scale? It would need to be like 12.5 times the length of an x-wing. I think that is a reasonable size.

The craft are supposedly 1/270 size. If you go on wookiepedia, just divide the dimensions there by 270 to get the tabletop equivalent. My guess is that your 12.5x estimate is off by at least 50% if you wanted to stay strictly in scale.

In any case, it comes out to about 22". According to Brickipedia's preservation of Lego.com's advertisement, the 2001 kit was 28" long. In the box, that iteration goes for over 1000 USD (original MSRP was 200 USD). According to the same source, the 2009 version of the kit measures 20.5" long. You can find that version in the box on eBay for around 200 USD (original MSRP 150 USD).

*Note to self*

Clean out some new space on the gaming shelves for a ton of new Star Wars toys. Err, ahh, action miniature game models.

Sir Isaac Newton may be the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space, but John von Neumann is the logistics officer that eats your problems and turns them into kit.

I just downloaded the rules of play and after reading them, i am now even more excited!
Also, in the back of the rulebook there is a section called "production notes" where it says:

"Rest assured, we’re far from finished. As we expand
the X-Wing miniatures game, you can expect to
see additional amazing models released in the future,
including some large surprises."

Do you, think these large surprises are the Slave1 and Millenium falcon we already have seen or could it be an allusion to even bigger ships?

I think it is an allusion to bigger ships because the FFG people were calling the Falcon and Slave 1 "medium" at Gen Con.

Just thinking about the possibility of playing with the Tantive IV gives me a warm feeling.

That's just because of the engine wash from the approaching Star Destroyer.

Sorry to say, a Corellian Corvette seems extremely unlikely.

I know, i know but I can hope.
They are about 150meters long, so that should be about 50 cm on the tabletop. That's big but not unplayable.
So maybe, just maybe...

If the game gets popular enough, who knows.. maybe someone will make some model kits in the same scale

It would be pretty darn big...

Perhaps the "Large" ships will be something like Bossk's (the reptilian bounty hunter) Hound's Tooth. It's about twice as big as the falcon (~62m versus ~28m).

Some of the MM Action Fleet runs are pretty much perfect fits for the Wizards/Hasbro Star Wars Miniatures game. (Snowspeeder, etc). Miles out for this game though.

The largest of the smallest large ships () seems to be the GR-75 Transport colloquially known as the Rebel Transport. Even that would come out to over 13" long and probably cost 70 - 100 USD.

Not that I follow clicks but I seem to see some massive click models done.

This doesn't seem much different.

Yeah, if there's one thing that Lucas-X companies know how to do, it is suing people...

Even the free online RPG's got into it quite heavily with them before Star Wars Galaxies was released.

I can't remember any HeroClix figure larger than Dr. Manhattan, which stood 18" and had a MSRP of 80 USD. IIRC, Fin Fang Foom and Galactus were a little cheaper. Your comparison to Clix actually makes me want to revise up my estimated cost for the Corvette, seeing as how the amount of surface detail outstrips the detail on any of the larger clix models by a mile. It would certainly cost more to design and I'm guessing it would also be harder to produce.

Yep, I wouldn't mess with Lucas, no matter who you were, or where you were based...

Remember, this is the man who unleashed Jar-Jar Binks on an unsuspecting, undeserving world of fans...

Actually Lucas is quite nice when it comes to his IP and it is done by fans in a nonprofit way and if it is of good quality. But he can get quite angry when you want to make a buck and you do not pay the license fee (which is comparativly low).

Ill agree. If the fighters are small, the YT-1300 & Slave 1 are medium, then the large size should be a similar jump in size, not nearly enough to be a corvette. As a matter of fact someone with better SW-foo should figure out what ships that might be...

And B-Wings I 'spose.

Also assault gunboats and missile boats.

If we are gonna wishlist huge ships, Id love a Nebulon-B Frigate, probably my favorite ship. It would come in at about 44 inches, staying in scale.

Seriously though, in that scale how long would an Eclipse be? They're roughly 16-18km long normally.

The Nebulon-B has always been a favorite of mine. Id like it more as a scenery/terrain piece than a playable game componant. Same for any larger ship, would be lots of fun to dogfight around.
