I'm pretty sure I read that at least one of the ship expansions had a new mission in it.

I wonder though, with the two named ship expansions, the Falcon and the Slave 1, how many extra pilots will be provided?

The Falcon name calls Han, Chewie, and Lando in the description, but people are speculating that Chewie may be a "co-pilot" upgrade card(there's really nothing to base that on, though). Slave-1's blurb actually refers to it as the Firespray-31 and talks about "pirates and bounty hunters such as Boba Fett", so I'd look towards generic Firespray pilot cards(which suggests that there's also probably a generic YT-1300 pilot card).

Heh, you'd think when you get the Falcon or Slave you'd only field it as such, not as some generic thingy.

Personally, I think if they'd named the packs the generic ship names, the more casual fans would wonder why they didn't name them the famous versions. I'm fine with the way they did it, especially as, if they only made Slave-1(in the Firespray example), there'd only really be one pilot card that would make sense(we've only ever seen two pilots of Slave-1 and one was kind of headless by 0 BBY when the game seems to take place), where as we do have examples of other people piloting the Falcon(Leia, Chewie, and Lando throughout the 3 movies).

yeah,
The cards are hard to read... but I think I can make out a few things.
Cost appears to be 46 points for the top YT-1300 card and 35point for the top Firespray card
Also amongst the large cards there is what looks like mission cards - 1 in the falcon set and 2 in the slave set.
There are also 3 canister tokens in the falcon set which I guess are mission related?
They also look like they move as there are movment guides on two edges.
In the slave 1 set there is an upgrade card marked gunner, so co pilot type cards seem likely and what looks like a seismic charge token
Panic...

Those top two Falcon Cards are Han and Lando(count the letters if it's too blurr). Top Slave-1 is definitely Fett. The others are too well positioned to get full names off of, especially the Firespray pilots. I find it funny that Slave-1 comes with the Gunner card with Chewie's picture on it but that card isn't in the Falcon set.

I recall a mention of Nein Numb as well. For the Slave 1 they could go with quite a lot of alternate pilots if they look up the Wookiepedia article.

I think that gunner card is a generic alien race of sorts. Also, them cannister tokens, maybe used for a scenario involving an Imperial Star Destroyer?

Tycho Celchu in the A-Wing booster is seen in RotJ, but only named in X-Wing: Rogue Squadron (to the best of my knowledge).

I don't believe so - I'm rereading Rogue Squadron at the moment, which mentions that he fought at Hoth, but that Wedge is the only pilot to survive two Death Star runs. Somewhere in the X-Wing series it mentions that he was talking to his parents on Alderaan over the HoloNet when the planet blew up - and he initially thought it was just a communication glitch. He joined the Rebellion somewhere after that but before Hoth.

Black Squadron, Obsidian Squadron, Mauler Mithel, and Night Beast were creations of the glorious SW:CCG- although they use movie shots, I'm fairly certain that puts them into the EU realm of canon.

Yes you can, but I would highly recommend buying expansion packs. My Empire army has 1 tie advanced and 4 ties. So all told its a perfect 100 point army but 2 ties vs 1 xwing is fairly even fight. Automatically Appended Next Post: Side note, gold plated I win button? 8 15 point ties.

"Archon Yulliptidon sat apon a throne made of polished glass, which gleamed with magnificence in the rays of the dying suns, beautifully suspended above the the many razor sharp peaks that where Commorragh. The archon held within his hands a a delicate pyramid of sculpted crystal, from which emitted a faint glow, an echo of the soundless screams of pain belonging to countless tortured souls forever trapped within. The room in which the archon sat in was something like a throne room, but displayed apon the walls where helm of every color, but all the same in size and shape. Some bore eagles on their foreheads, and others still contained the decapitated heads of their previous owners. Two huge, beautifully carved iron double doors, engraved with intricate runes of pain and suffering, opened at the far end of the room, to reveal a tall, elegant dark eldar warrior, clad in armor made from bone and flesh. "lord Yulliptidon, you asked for my presence?" Said the arrival, " to what do I owe the pleasure?". The archon raised his elongated head, skin as pale as a full moon, eyes as vivid as a horrible nightmare. " I did not ask for you, Thrayon, I ordered your presence. Do not think to much for your self, for truly, you are not much past a feral that one would find on the streets. As for why I have ordered you to my palace, it is because their is a task that I wish you to preform. I wish you and you kabal to cleanse the imperial out fort of Sargosain Gastienagan." Thrayon was both aghast and interested at what the archon had just said. "Such a task would stretch my kabal to its limits, only a great reward would be enough to do a deed like this." Yulliptidon was outraged by the the proposal of a "great reward" by Thrayon, but did not let his anger show, hiding it with a cold smile that hid his evil intentions surprisingly well. The archon was was famous for never telling a lie in his life, but was very fond of veiled double speak, and this was no exception. "Do not worry, Thrayon, you shall receive what you deserve." Thrayon, happy with this outcome, left to carry out Yulliptidons task. Little did he know what was coming. Thrayon had done a thousand evil deeds, and what he deserved was a horrible death equal to to all those he had caused. Yulliptidons smiled. He was going to have fun."

That's good because I was planning on splitting the starter set with a friend and I wanted to buy more ships too. Just curious, but do the Rebels and Imperials play differently at all? I'm leaning towards Imperials due to my love for them since I was a child but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy playing as them.

Well, on the TIE Fighter vs X-Wing front, TIEs are more agile (so roll more dice in defence) and quicker (so have a different set of manoeuvre options), but not as heavily armed (so roll less dice to attack) while the X-Wing s the opposite. X-Wings also have shields, which buys them more survivability.

In a 100pt game/tournament you would have to take Academy pilots and they are 12 points which comes to be 96pts leaving room for one to be upgraded to one of the 16pt TIE Pilots. 8 TIEs is pretty nasty. Swarming the enemy is a pretty good idea.

Yeah, the maneuver wheels really differentiate the ships well. After a few games, it really felt like the old TIE fighter game, blasting through space in an unshielded death trap.
