It was a sliding utility knife. I was using the end to try to pry off a piece from the rhino (pictured), the piece popped off, but I lost control of the blade. It wasn't actually that large a knife, but the jerking motion caused it to cut further than one would expect.
It was a pretty textbook case of "what not to do with a knife".

I've glue gunned my hand before (though it wasn't anything that 15 minutes under the cold tap couldn't sort out). That stuff is like Napalm.

I usually get one or two nicks on my fingers every time I assemble something. Long ago in my youth I got a bit overzealous in my study of muay thai and started doing the whole body hardening thing, parts of my hands/fingers still don't really have any pain receptors left.
Worst I ever hurt myself hobbying though was actually forum related... I was sitting indian style on my bed with my laptop surfing 40k forums looking for advice on my new Tau army ( I think it was Advance Tau Tactica.. not sure been a few years) when I got an IM from my wife saying she was heading home from work. I realized I hadn't done any of the house work I had promised her that morning and had maybe ten minutes to knock something out so as to not look like a total slacker, so i lept out of bed on to my right leg....
Only to realize my right leg was totally dead asleep, sending me falling sideways, and badly spraining my ankle with a loud popping noise.
The funny part is is that something possessed me pull myself partially up on the bed to my laptop and IM my wife "OW! OW! OW!" (why I'm not sure really). Causing her to call my cell phone in a panic, which naturally was clear across the entire damn apartment.....I'm sure the combination of gimping and crawling required for me to answer that damn phone would've been hilarious if caught on camera

Good to hear that Zip kicker can burn skin quite badly if it comes into contact with superglue already on skin. I thought I was being slightly paranoid with making sure that stuff didn't get on me, but now I know otherwise.

Just about any significant chemical reaction you could cause in your house will generate a lot of heat. You'd do well to keep still-curing resin off of yourself too.

The ancient goblin spearmen were the worst. I have no idea how they got the spear points so sharp. I remember more than one occasion our O&G player actually drawing blood trying to remove casualties.

I've really never understood the superglue accidents. I mean, getting glue on your hands is just part of the fun, so the zipkicker ones make sense, I guess, but some of the other stuff I've read makes me think, "WTF? I don't think so."

That reminds me of one time when a couple of non-wargaming friends were looking at my collection. One of them dropped a model which broke (suppressed rage surprisingly well) When I went to super glue the arm back on his wife said "Careful with that stuff. The last time I used it the cap was stuck and when I bent it away from me (Seriously?!?!) it popped off and flung super glue near my eye"
I tried my best to not openly mock her and feign extra care so I didn't fling super glue at my face. Darwinism in action I suppose.

Sliced half an inch vertically into my thumb.
I would have made it to the bone if it was horizontal...
The feeling still hasn't come back after a good few months and I doubt it ever will. Got a scar from it too.
I'm amazed that I couldn't give a zog about it though, the younger me certainly would have.

I had one of those brush on krazy glue bottles with the open top, I twisted the hand that held it to pick up the phone and it spilled on my football jersey (i didnt have an undershirt). It fused the jersey to my stomach. And when I was much younger, and more dumb. I couldnt figure out how the krazy glue pens worked, so I tryed to bite the push in tip and the glue exploded into my mouth, sealing my teeth together and my lips. My tounge was stuck to my roof. that was fun... Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, and a girlfirend said," I dont date nerds," that cut deep.

I cut my thumb damn near down to the bone, which bled a lot and probably should have gotten stitches. The most impressive was the shard of superglue that I was chipping off of a metal mini which broke loose, shot upwards, and lodged in my face just to the side of my eye.

The worst thing that happened to me was when I was using krazy glue, the runny formula. I thought that the tube was nearly empty so I squeezed the tube VERY hard to try and get some out. Turns out a bunch had leaked onto the tube seconds prior, and the force of me squeezing for 30 seconds or so ensured that my thumb was VERY well stuck to the tube. At first I panicked, I was really concerned about how I'd get it off my thumb without tearing the skin like crazy. Then I calmed down and I submerged it in super hot water for a good while and then peeled it off. It hurt quite a lot, but it didn't break my skin. Yay!
