Note that those pigs are LESSER Warbeasts, not LIGHT Warbeasts. They're on small bases like the Legion Shredders. Only the second faction in the game to get something like that.

I must have those Minion Lessers! I might have to pick up circle for the new Skinwalkers if that UA is any good.

That's awesome. It's not a pignode, but it'll be really helpful to differentiate the pigs as a minion faction and will probably (finally) give them a speedy assault unit to run interference for the rest of the force. I can't wait to see what else they've got in store!

A Pork Node would be rather insane for what it would do for Arcadius. Crippling Grasp? Yes please!

It'd make him a viable caster! But all kidding aside, it really wouldn't do much other than make him marginally harder to assassinate. He needs it.

Note the toad troll is not new, it's just moving to plastic. It's currently out in metal right now.

Yeah, plastic is actually pretty great for that one as I think the model would lend itself to being converted into a different pose.

Love the Alpha model, and I was getting a set of Skinwalkers anyway when they came out in plastic in a couple of weeks, so fingers crossed for good rules on him. A speed boost, or something to generate more attacks like Berserk or Backswing would be just what they need, and make the unit a viable alternative to Gatormen.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

By the fluff description it sounds like they'll be getting consume, berserk, or both.

If/when it comes I suspect that a 'pork node' won't follow the traditional Warmachine arcnode concepts. IMO we should expect something unusual (like the Gallows Grove or Spell Martyrs). I don't think an Arcadius specific channeller character beast (like Laris) or a magic pig that isn't actually a channeller (like the Cyclops Shaman) is out of the question. There's also the possibility of a Corrupter style arc node gun.

In other news I should be the owner of a Woldwrath next week. (I'm not sure if that actually constitutes Gargantuan news)

The idea of a caster attachment with a paymaster or spell effect that could turn a nearby FF beast into a channeler (or arc node, it would be fluffy if it were actually the warmachine upgrade) would create some great new gameplay scenarios. It'd fit Arcadius' theme to have an assistant walking around with a mind control helmet or something to that effect. Problematically though, that would mean that there are two caster attachments total in the minions with both being arcadius' assistants. As a gator player I like the outside the box thinking the lesser warbeasts implied, I can't wait to see what they have in store for my side of the minions.

Not in the Collossals/gargantuan meta. Being unshootable is nice, but when the highest P+S available to your entire faction is 17, with no buffs anywhere it makes it hard to deal with stormwalls and mountain kings.

Apparently Calaban lost Parasite along the way. The best the Farrow can get is 20 with the Hog and Arcadius and he's got to burn fury and take damage to do it. If you look at the net effect, they're a push.

Yep, he lost an 8 inch spell that requires that he walk up to a colossal to get use out of (and thusly die). With parasite cast that gives a wrastler (which will be near dead by the time it gets there) the ability to strike 4 times at P+S 20 and twice at P+S18. That'll be -2 to -5 on the 20's depending on what you're facing given the clear preference for stacking armor buffs onto colossals/gargantuans. That'll average about 26 damage on a stormwall (if you don't miss), 52 if you can parasite, charge it with two wrastlers, and never miss. Any barely competent player won't let you do that.

Pigs can get a hog with aggression dial + carvers feat + mobility for a lengthy charge and 5 attacks, one at P+S 19/4 dice, 3 P+S 19/3 dice and and attack at P+S18/3 dice. That averages 40 damage. Warhogs cost 1 point less and have a longer threat range than wrastlers. Carver doesn't have to put himself in harms way to pull this off. Two hogs, which is fairly standard, will wreck a doublebuffed galleon.

Gators realistic tactic against collossals is Mealok assassinations. This is virtually impossible against menoth/trolls.

I'm from the future. The future of space

I love the lesser piggies. I think they look surprisingly good for a boar miniature. Especially compared to other boar miniatures out there *cough*.

Making a UA for the skinwalkers is just good business sense considering they are in the two player starter. Hopefully they'll also release a legion Warspears UA. That would be awesome.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I could see pigs getting a fairly "normal" arc node, with Arcadius basically just bolting one to the top of a pig beast.

So, Is the Warpwolf unit detachment going to be in the gargantuans book?

That's the assumption since it's a Hordes release.

I'm not sure on the pigs, but as a Gator player--Calaban's parasite isn't the answer to heavy armor. You can only pick him once and most armies you face every round are running some high ARM beat stick now--and Calaban has to get very close to get that spell off. Only way I've dealt with Colossals when I've played them is to toss gators past them or use Maelok to assassinate. Gators (and it sounds like Pigs) both need some AP love.

On topic though---that wing scale really brings it home. That's going to be one big mini.

What do you mean, "gone"? Was there an Erata I missed? Or will he get an epic version in Gargantuans? I'd prefer an epic Barnabas, just to see where the fluff takes him.

I think 12thRonin was referring to Shuma's claim that "Being unshootable is nice, but when the highest P+S available to your entire faction is 17, with no buffs anywhere it makes it hard to deal with stormwalls and mountain kings."
