I think it's the forelegs, where they connect. The horses have massive pecks and spindly little legs that look a bit stuck on.

You're right, that definitely looks like it has a lot to do with them looking chubby.

The PP forums at least had the complaint that Khador horses are repeatedly described as special large/hearty breeds, yet look identical.

This was discussed and the conclusion was that there was confusion between the special horses Uhlans and MOW ride, and normal horses for everyone else in Khador.

GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.

They do that from time to time, I miss the old blunderbusses that shot rock salt instead of regular shot.

Red_Zeke, thanks for that, I never knew where that expression came from

However, getting back to HORDES () the most applicable use of it I've seen was someone talking about Captain Gunnbjorn for Trollbloods ("You've got peanut butter in my chocolate!").

Looking forward to more HORDES releases/discussion particularly the remaining items in Gargantuans.

I think that was just the Butcher's blunderbuss, but, either way, I'd say PP's resident butcher () is whoever retconned Prime-- that used to number among my favorite gaming books, and the new one lost most of the charm and character that made me care about WM when it came out

Except those freakin' tusks. I hate that PP makes models that are impossible to get into B2B with despite the fact they know how big the bloody bases are ahead of time!

If you set the feet right at the back of the base, it won't be as bad, but it'll still be awkward.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

Isn't the other leg (left on the critter) also set back a bit from the other? Though, even if it isn't, that tail...

I have a feeling more players than just Salvage are going to pop those tusks off in favor of something more practical.

Just bring a few blank bases to slide under them to show model positions... done, job's a good 'un

I agree. I hope we can rely on full on mammoth players to think to provide such bases! I have yet to run into too many players who do.

It's not really. They mention the different horses in Superiority when they introduced the cav.

Hopefully those tusks can be magnetized--else that's going to be quite the model to transport/play against

I'd magnetize the whole head, would be easier that way.

We were talking about Skorne's cuddle problems at the shop, and one solution that came up was magnetizing. Another dude suggested basing all these titanic & gargantuan critters on ramps, so the beast is headed uphill, projecting tusks upwards and over their targets. Not a bad idea.

A "ramp" (suitably modelled to make sense) would be an awesome solution

Eh, re-read the entry, you're right about the breeds, dunno if I interpreted all of the horse entries together as "their horses are giant" or if I forgot where it was. I still don't like the plastics, but I guess I don't have a fluff reason to do so.

I'm not a fan of those horses, either. I really only know the Superiority fluff so well cause it's my fave book fluff-wise, so I read it regularly.

Having just 2 horse bodies, two horse heads (all recycled) and basically just one rider pose (with variation too minimal to actually notice), is quite lazy for such an expensive cavalry unit and spoiling the overall effect IMHO. Reminds me of the 90$ Khorne war-chariot, where they sculpted just one horse and copied it.

Pile of bodies is always an option. Dead warbeasts from another faction, wreck marker from one of the warmachine factions, they all seem like options.

And I'm going to my FLGS again today, I've been going two or so times a week waiting for NQ to come out....if its not there this time...

Definitely-- I always forget how many of my favorite shorts are in there. The revenant story is one of the best. (I think that Apotheosis and Superiority were really the peak of PP writing.)
