Don't know. The original scale sizes referred to the height of an adult male figure. I recall 6' being the unit measure. Nothing in real life is measured to the eyes, it makes no sense to do it with scale models.
I wouldn't be surprised though as I think 28mm developed from 25mm heroic. It would be good to have a common size standard or better yet, a scale included in the advertising so potential buyers can see what size the models are.

Same quality painting it seems That might hurt sales

Everything appears to be designed the same way, a sprue separated into 4 sections

$16 for 16 knights. You can buy the sprues separately for $2 each

Box
Spoiler:

What comes in the box
# of sprues SKU# Description
2 RETEMS0004 Weapon Assortment - 13th Century
2 RETEMS0002 Helm - 13th Century
1 RETEMS0007 Shields - 13th Century
1 RETEMS0003 Torso - surcoat over mail - 13th Century
2 RETEMS0001 Mail Arms - 13th Century
1 RETEMS0005 Legs with Surcoat - 13th Century
1 RETEMS0006 Legs with Surcoat - 13th Century
2 RETEAC0008 20mm bases
1 RETEMS0009 Shields - 12th/13th Century

Sprues
Spoiler:

I'm honestly a bit tempted just to buy a head sprue to see what they fit on whether it would be Perry/Fireforge or GW

But speaking of FF, they will quite easily blown these out of the water with their knights (though crusader based)

Ok. I'm in.

I'll have to place the order after X-mas, though, as my son's toys are somehow more expensive than even the hobby. When did cheapo plastic trucks hit $30??

Definitely not the most efficient sprue layout I've seen.

Nah. You could fit a landraider in the empty space.

Still, they have charm.

These are not all that bad, especially if they are the first thing he ever sculpted or cast. The helmets look well detailed, and a couple washes will solve the painting's most glaring downfalls.

The website, under the contact us page, does state the following however:

"About how our figures are painted
It was decided to try and show the what that "average" person should be able to meet and even exceed in painting of the figures. The miniatures are basically painted dry-brushed and or washed to help bring out the detail. The plan is to put together different guides to show the techniques that will hopefully fit different skill levels and time commitments. "

So it does seem like he/they are trying.

I admit they do seem at first glance (although I like ot get a closer look) quite low on the detail scale, the fact that they are all in a march-attack pose that aids ranking helps, and I'm sure in a large group, panted the same scheme they would be decent, if not good rank filler.

The sprues look ok to me, the knights look bland because of the painting, he should have commissioned a prof. figure painter.

Totally worth a dollar apiece. They are absolutely salvageable with some reposing and a good paint job.

Yeah, over top of layers of wool socks. Cuz it's always good to keep your feet hot and chafing.

Good source of cheap shields in a big variety of styles is the main thing I see of use there. $2 for 16 isn't bad.

Handy if you're using Perry minis as a base for fantasy since their kits don't come with the big tower shields.

Yea, I gotta say, his set up is pretty rocking. A few life choices' difference, and I would be calling up for advice and doing that same myself. In a few more years, that might well happen anyway

Will do. They're for a friend for Christmas (a secret santa swap kinda thing) and he does medievals 12th-14th century so has tons of Perry and Fireforge etc. Hope to have them by Saturday so I'll post a review. But unless they burst into flames when exposed to oxygen, they look totally worth the price. Like early Wargames Factory used to be the same kinda thing, they were 'worth' it but only because of the price... but now they're quite good (WSS Artillery, Samurai, etc) so I'd like to support this independent guy in the hopes that like Wargames Factory he will produce more kits of higher and higher quality.

I can see these kits selling quite well, if they fit it with other manufacturers for that time period then they will be great unit filler. For instance the old plastic Bretonnian one-piece bowmen are still used as cheap unit filler for English Longbowmen, mixed with metal Perry/etc sculpts.

Actually some of WGF's early kits, like the vikings and saxons, rock. I am making an army out of them. They make quite good generic mail-armored warriors.

One thing I noticed is that the mail is sculpted like norman/englsih tomb effigies, that is in a scallop shell-like shape. The mail most people are used to seeing on miniatures is like cords bound together.

Just something to think about.

I will say it is amazing how much you can miss when you have starred at something too long. Saying they are plastic might help people our… saying they are High Impact Polystyrene might help too. I guess that would let people figure out the glue they need and where they might be able to mix and match with other minis.

Shipping is now listed on the site.
$3 USD U.S.
$4 USD Canada
$6 USD Everywhere else

Since this is by the sprue, I will be adding more sprues over time. I would like to have another sprue out in the next week or two.

As for the Axe… I see it now… doh… not intended.

A bit late to the party, as I just saw this now, but I'm pretty impressed. Not with the figures as a whole, which are a bit stiff and toylike, (though probably usable with some work) but with the bitz potential here.

2 bucks for 16 weapons, heads, shields or bases!
Thats about 13 cents each for bits that look just fine, even though (or perhaps because...) they aren't covered in GW levels of detail. I particularly like the hand/weapon combos which make it very easy to transplant to another model.

I really hope this guy does well, because if this is only his first effort, then there's alot of potential here!

The other issue of course is that there is a surprising market for stiff figures - especially among historical gamers. Some relates to the toy soldiers that you mention - others are because they tend to be set up in tight rank and file formations.

Overall - I think it is a great thing (not for me - but still). There are several companies which are starting to begin cottage plastic industries for miniature gamers. Proxie Models is another I can think of off the top of my head. Tools, machines and manufacture all being done in basements, garages and barns.

Just went ahead and ordered the weapons sprue, helmet sprue and bases sprue. For a total of 8 bucks shipped, it seems like a small price to indulge my curiosity.

I'll be sure to post a review with comparisons to other heads, weapons and bases.

Hi guys,
got a chance to see them in the flesh on Saturday. Order arrived just in time to give it as a secret Santa gift to a gaming buddy who does medievals. The level of detail is really quite good, and the models are totally worth a buck apiece. There's a lot of fine detail on the chainmail and on the helmets. Very impressive and I'm looking forward to what kits this company releases in the future.
