What is the general thought on the large ships? Is there really ever a need for more than one in any given 100pt list?

Is there a need? No... but you can fit two and it gives you a very quick list to work with during a game. I personally like having one big ship in a list (especially above 100pts but that's obviously not a "tourney" game). I've only got one game under my belt with slave 1 but the Mill Falc (specifically with chewie as pilot, gunner, nien, PTL, engine mod) has performed very well for me multiple times.

They are pretty discrete, but yes, completely unnecessary.
The logo on their movement templates is worse, quite visible and crammed in next to the distance numeral, looks sloppy.
Also they rounded the corners on the straight templates but not on the curved templates. Hard edges are probably better for the game but the lack of consistency just detracts from the overall look even more.

The asteroids....are pretty gakky honestly.
As I mentioned before the rocks are half assed chunks of insulation foam sprayed once so they melt a bit and with a hole jabbed in the bottom that is much to big for the "pegs".
The pegs are chopped bits of clear styrene rod, which are too big for the holes drilled in the templates but too small to accommodate a magnet if you go that route.
The templates seem fine, I'm sure I can salvage something useful but I'm overall embarrassed to have made the purchase.

Played my first game today, and had a blast! Placed an order for a core set at the FLGS and by the looks of it should have it Xmas 2016...

On to my question for you all. What would the recommended booster choices be for both factions as my next purchases?

If you get 10 people replying, you'll likely have 12 answers (because there are always people who can't make up their own minds!). My personal advice is to get two of each normal sized ship that isn't in the starter and one of each big one. For the starter ships, get one booster of each as the boosters do have some cards and upgrades that are not included in the starter. If that's too pricey or unrealistic for your FLGS (don't know your local stock situation), get one of each non-starter ship for the upgrade cards and save the big ships and extra starter fighters for later.

I've done the above and it's given me the variety that I want both in terms of ships and upgrade cards and it all fits (along with templates/tokens/etc) in one GW case for easy transport to the store.

Hey, I noticed that the Star Wars Dice app for iDevices says it has dice for both X-Wing and the Edge of the Empire RPG. Does anyone know if they use the same dice, or if the app simply has 2 sets of dice - 1 for each game?

No, the app has the different dice the RPG uses. It's a bit of a waste though. I picked it up for free when Amazon gave out 500cr free to all Kindle fire users and I wish I had instead rewarded the guy who made Battlescribe Pro. The phone version also has DRM and wouldn't work when I turned my phone to airplane mode to conserve battery.

All right, I ordered up some toys. I have coming soon to my location:

-2 Starters
-1 X-Wing
-3 Y-Wings
-2 A-Wings
-1 Millennium Falcon
-1 Tie Fighter
-2 Tie Advanced
-1 Tie Interceptor
-1 Slave-1

Hopefully my boys will like it and we can throw it into game night rotation.

Wow man that sounds very different to my experience! My main issue was paint rub in transit, but the acrylic portions, including all rods flawlessly dry fitting into the holes, were pretty perfect. The asteroid peg holes not surprisingly a bit too big, but I just put a tiny ball of blu-tac on the end of the rods before inserting and they clamp on pretty tight. If you give the rods a twist they don't pop into the bases?

Ps, if you reply please head on over to the resources thread, if we are ever going to get our own forum need to sustain this kind of viable convo in the right threads' also will help to get your review in there too

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Well.. I've now joined the long time ago in a galaxy far away club.. saw the starter box game being played - the order placing prior to the turn, and 'damage cards' looked like tremendous fun - and £30, less than a video game, thought why the hell not!

Have to say it's funny buying pre-painted (some time since the last I bought, which I believe was AT-43) but it might be actually nice having something that can be easy to learn, don't have to paint it, and can be played quickly (from what I have heard).

The main rule book comes with a quick start rule sheet which is a cakewalk to learn. The main rules only add a couple things past that. You'll have no problem picking it up. Welcome to the fold, brother.

I played my first game a couple of weeks ago and loved it. The rules are simple enough and it was just plain fun

My mate already has a few ships so we're going to pool resources - I've just bought a Y-Wing to add some variety to game 2 this week.

Whilst at the wargamers weekend show at Bovington Tank Museam last weekend I was given a quick demo game of X-Wing. I had an absolute blast, albiet with a stripped down version of the rules and needless to say parted with £25 on the spot for a copy of the core rules.

I'm hoping to play a full game this weekend with some mates.

How many X-wings are people (Besides Tom) are finding they need? I've got 3 atm, but I'm not sure if I need more, or if I have 1 more than needed .

Also does anyone know what the price of the X-Wing Game Night Season 2 Kit is? I'd love to get my FLGS to grab one, and then have us run a league/campaign or something.

The acrylic shield tokens and Alt art Wedge might be worth the price of admission alone!

I have 3 X-Wings, and I think it's a perfect amount. I've actually never run more than 2 at a time, but you never know when you'll need that last one. I actually have 3 of all the smaller ships except regular Ties (have 5) and advanced (have 2). Also 2 of each big ship.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

is there another end? after looking at GW releases this game seems cheap. plus i don't have to paint it. I am so behind on my GW stuff.

I think I'm going to settle on 4 each of the smaller ships and 2 each of the larger.

Maybe 3.

And a Corvette.

[Edit] Except TIE Fighters, I'll need 8 of those.

I'm so addicted to this game.

The wave 2 restock seems to be here, but going fast. Got two A-Wings and 2 Interceptors from my FLGS and now they are out of stock a day later.

Get 'em while they're hot!

Ahhh... went to sites that had restock yesterday, and they're all gone today.

I can't wait for ships that were $10 yesterday to appear on Ebay for $30 tomorrow.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but my friend sent me a link to THE MOST AWESOME CARRY CASE EVER!!

Back to the matter on hand. When will the Wave 1/2 stuff get back into stock? Need an X-Wing, and if the Blaster Turret in the HWK-290 is compatible, a few more Y-Wings. Also A-Wings. And Interceptors. Damn, hooked...

I got an order, and preorder, in but I still need 3 Interceptors.

That will give me 4 of every ship and 2 each of the 3 bigger ships.

Tell me about it. Watched Miniature Market go from 77 to 0 TIE Interceptors in the space of 3 hours on Thursday. Hopefully the guys down here will have some allocated when their stock arrives early August.
