Oh, I forgot, other people actually have money. -.-
Oh I certainly don't - I convert my Wracks out of Skaven Plague Monks. £1 a models is significantly better than £4 a model.
I currently have 29 Wracks, 2 more boxes makes 69, which is enough for 6 w/ Hex Rifles, 12 with Liquifier Guns, 6 Acothysts and 45 regular mooks.
(Grotesques out of Dryads, only need 1 more box to round out my Grots.)
I got tired of having my vehicles killed with one lucky slot, so I switched to Daemons, who have no non-walker vehicles. My son plays nids, and he simply has no vehicles in his army. These are great options if you're pretty sure you don't ever want to run transports or tanks.

A little party of Death Company (with that crazy character that lets them reroll missed hits and failed wounds, I forget the name) in a Stormraven Gunship is so ridiculously good that my friend painted his Stormraven black with a large red cross on it.
Other than that, he doesn't use any vehicles and is quite competetive.
That just sounds like a lot of expensive eggs in one flying basket.
It is, but it has such an enormous range that you can almost always find something to charge from relative safety. And with the insane amount of attacks and the rerolls, they can literally take out anything. He had 8 DC and they took out 3 of my 5 paladins in the first round of combat last game. Paladin are hard to pry open... but not to a DC charging apparently.

walk 30 Grotesques and 60 Wracks across the table, with a whole ton of Scourges and / or Reavers for heavy fire support.
Or 150 Warriors (6x20 Kabalite + 3x10 Trueborn) with the afforementioned Scourges / Reavers. and/or Beastpacks.
I'm fairly sure that 120 Wyches (90 Wyches + 30 Blood Brides) would be fairly scary. (though I don't tend to use wyches myself)
If you REALLY want, you can have enough bodies on the floor to scare the pants off most opponents, and you can still take a large number of lances / blasters.
I'm currently working towards maxed-out Grotesque/Wrack and Warrior foot lists, and while it won't be as quick as mech DE, it'll certainly be different, interesting, and hopefully scary as hell.
Right, because point for point you're getting models that are 1.5 times the cost of an ork boy, and 50% easier to kill. That's why footDEdar doesn't work.

Yes.
Well, not necessarily, but if you want to reliably win games, it's pretty hard to ignore vehicles. There are too many boons they bring to a list that infantry just can't match. If you really hate vehicles though, run a DoABA list, that'll still do fine. GK would perform nicely too, if you don't count a rifleman dread as a vehicle.
But most armies (IG, SM, Orks, DE, Eldar, SoB, Necrons) will be severely crippled if you ignore vehicles, which are very powerful in these lists.

I have all jump infantry at 2000 points with no vehicles and daemons only have the soulgrinder, which I don't even own (prefer Princes). I had good results with my foot CSM at 1000 and 1500 points but in larger games they get spanked.

Mostly it's as easy to kill, or harder per model, universally faster, in CC, 1vs1 the Wracks and Wyches should kill the Boy before he even gets to move and even the pretty much purely shooty unit stands a 50/50 chance of killing the Boy first. Even 3 Boyz vs 2 Wracks / Warriors / Wyches, it'll likely end with 2 dead boys and 1 DE (probably 1 dead Boy, 2 dead Warriors, but hey - shooty unit). Yes, you get roughly 50% more Orcs for the points, but 150 warriors can sit back and shoot the crap out of things, The Wracks can reasonably walk to the enemy, and with fleet at least 1/2 of the Wyches should make it to combat... I think.
The list with Vehicles will invaribly be better, but a properly constructed foot list, SHOULD do alright for itself.

Or you could compare it to the vastly superior shoota boy who also gets to shoot people in the face.
For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
Forgive my ignorance, but DoA Blood Angels... I assume you mean have all of them deep strike into play? From what I can tell a Drop Pod isn't necessary for BA because you only roll 1d6" for scatter?
