Lookin cool man. What about giving one an eyepatch, or a peg leg? Kinda pirate, but could fit in. I like the old ork gun.

have you thought about doing some of them up with auto/lasguns? its just that bolters and bolter ammunition is supposed to be rare and expensive outside of the Astartes. Las and Auto weaponry is relativly cheap and readily available plus an AK47 would be a pretty sick autogun for these dudes!

other than that these are really awesome! i really like the way you have adapted the rules to make the game something more along the lines of what you want to play. i wish we had that sorta mentality around here but its sadly lacking.

Amputees and prosthetics could give a lot of character, great idea.

Suicide bombers: Thinking of making giant rats with explosives on them. The dog sized ones.

Lasguns/Autoguns: In the game I like the feel of the str4 boltgun as the main weapon. The basic assault rifle so to speak. I don't think a 5+ to wound roll would help the scenarios.
This is from a 2nd ed perspective of course. I'm seeing these skaven as a variant of the 2nd ed orks. Back then they had BS3 and boltguns. Perhaps the best and most balanced force against SM imho.
And our current games are heavily infantry based, so the the main gun of the army makes great difference.

I think the argument was more from a fluff/logic perspective, rather than game mechanics. It would also be sweet if all of my guardsmen had rapidfire variant lascannons instead of lasguns, and only have to roll 2+ to wound, but it still dosn't fit the fluff or make sense.

You could still model autogiros on and pass them of as bolters surely?

I think you need to give the next recruits Fez's. the only problem being the other rats might get jealous...

Yeah absolutely. I'm quite promiscuous when it comes to the appearance of the guns as long as they fit the theme. Some friends have suggested actual ak47's for the rats but I think it would be a bit too obvious. ak47-ish on the other hand...
Perhaps hypocrisy on my part due to the svd-rifles on the assassins. I thought that they deviated enough from the real DMR-rifle to work in 40k.

Rawson: I sure get the difference between fluff and game mechanics. But as a 2nd ed fellow I see things in another light. Orks as mentioned above have boltguns/boltpistols as their main weaponry. Back in the day I tried to put together a squat force but found it to be terribly unsatisfactionary in a firefight due to their lasgun-based nature. It's not at all a desire to have lascannons on every single modle, but rather a desire to join the boltgun-club of orks and SM.

So you guys still play with 2e? And you're running your skaven with the 2e ork codex? (By the way, the lascannon comment was more of an exaggeration, but I'm not sure if that made it through the internet )
