Wow, really original concept, nicely put into shape !

Those Non-Electronic CRONs look awesome, but... are you sure you'll be able to build an army before 2017 ?

The amount of work each footslogger requires must be daunting !

It has been a lot of work! I really like building vehicles and whatnot but, yeah, the individual warriors are starting to be more of a pain than anything.

I guessed as much : I usually have the same problem, hence my lack of any sizeable force after more than 15 years in the hobby

As a diversion from the Monolith, I've started on a Catacomb Command Barge. I want to model an Overlord leaning out of the cockpit, sweeping down on some poor Marine with his Warscythe. The blade will be cutting through the Marine (complete with a bunch of sinewy blood streaks and entrails following the path of the blade sweep).

What do you think so far?

Here are a unit of Deathmarks. One of the coolest things about this unit is that they phase in onto the board (deepstriking), emerging from invisibility right next to their targeted enemy. Well, invisibility and teleporting seemed to be a little too technologically advanced for a ramshackle steampunk army... So, I gave these guys some camouflage cloaks to show that they hide and sneak their way up the board, ultimately throwing back their cloaks to open fire at an enemy.

My plans are to give these guys a Despair Cryptek for the autohit, 2+ wound goodness.

What do you think?

Oh my... that Monolith... there are no words. Couple with the brilliant conversions generally, this thread has, quite honestly, made my day.

Well done that man.

I'm loving this, suprised i havent seen this before... which is a shame because it is a beautifully executed concept.

My only suggestion would be to have more than one bronze colour as while everything looks uniform it looks a little same imho

Keep up the good work however

Thanks guys!

I agree about the uniform color scheme. I started out only lightly drybrushing gold over the tan base spray but have since started coloring in whole sections and trimming with a thick, full coat of gold to break up some of the bronze.

I just can't seem to finish a project before I move on to the next... oh, well.

Here's a Destroyer Lord, complete with a custom Warscythe. He has a top hat and a monocle because, after all, he is a gentleman of the utmost class and sophistication.

Hey everybody, turns out I'm not dead! THE STEAMCRONS CONTINUE ON!

My next project is a Ghost / Doomsday Ark. I like the overall design of the GW model but I also want mine to feel more Victorian and bulky. Additionally, since the Ghost Ark specializes in resurrecting dead Necrons, I figured what better way to model this than by having a portable machine assembly shop right on board! What do you think so far?

Actually, I mostly use cereal boxes to build with now. I found that it works just as well as plasticard (except where I need thicker pieces). I thought it would be really unstable but, when it's all put together and glued, it's surprisingly rigid and solid. In fact, people at my FLGS ask where I buy a lot of the models I make because it looks like plastic after it's all been painted up.

Cool, whatever works is good. I have a stock of various cards and plastic that I plan on using on future projects.
I couldn't decide if you were using card or very thin wood, must be recycled card.

Here's some more progress. I felt that the Ark needed to be kept afloat somehow... so what better way than by balloons?

Seems I'm a bit late to the party, but let me just say "WOW!" I was half expecting to see spray-can brass Necrons with a few watch gears glued on, but there is some serious conversion work, here. It's not just extensive, either - you've got a knack, both in design and execution. I'll be stopping by this thread again, you can be sure. Keep it up!

I'm liking it. The cables holding the balloons could be a bit tighter in places to make it look more load-bearing, but I suspect that that would be tricky.

What have you used for the balloons?

Thanks guys. You're absolutely right about the balloons and I completely agree; actually, this was my second attempt to straighten them out! Trouble is, the balloons are barely connect to the main body of the Ark, so any pressure exerted downward by pulling the wires tight creates a major problem.

Anyway, it was sprayed already so I'm on to the next phase!

Thanks! I have a bunch finished but haven't taken any pictures. Destroyers, Scarabs, a few Barges, and some wraiths.

Also, I would really appreciate any help I can get selling off my old Chaos Marines army. You can find it here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/496678.page
I'm willing to let it go for fairly cheap (moving to Cleveland and I don't want to drag it all up with me).

Thanks everyone!
