Is the Nurgle Daemon Prince worth taking anymore. If so please explain why, i just keep reading over it and thinking ill never ever take one again. :( Don't get me wrong they aren't horrible but i don't think they are really worth the points.

This would probably do better in the Tactics section.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Any DP isn't worth taking anymore as you said they are too expensive might be worth only if you run a list with multiple "Shoot at me!" targets but probably nop, the DPs are only put aside now for when your chaos lords ascends (or descends) to daemonhood

With the addition of Helldrakes, the DP is no longer really needed. Helldrakes can handle Flyers and ground units.

So no needs to have a FMC vector striking everything when the Helldrakes can do it better.

I would go with a Sorcerer of Nurgle

BBS gives him a neat torrent AP3 flamer. Wheeeeeee!

But yeah the DP is pretty dead. Especially since they MUST be made a daemon of X god, meaning they aren't 145 base, but 155 with the cheapest god (slaanesh). They killed off my spartan prince man ><!!!!!>

Yeah, DP seems to be dead in the incarnation of the game. That's a shame since DPs are a part of the fluff of CSM armies.
You could alternatively field a Hellturkey or a Bloodthirster.

Lol I love these threads.
Lets look at this without the Internet goggles.
For 255 point you can get a shrouded 3+\5+ MC that can roll twice on biomancy.
If you cant see how that can be useful with its improved Stat line.....hmmmmmm

Vulnerability to instant death is a killer. My old 155pt lash princes died faster than I'd like, but they were nearly 100pts cheaper than the new equivalent, and couldn't get popped in one wound by a railgun or vindicator. I really don't know what they based the cost on. It's bad enough paying those prices in the Daemons codex, where you're still an Eternal Warrior.

Hopefully GW will FAQ "Daemon of..." to include the benefits of the Mark. My princes are sadly resting off-field right now.

I think black mace really makes it worth it.

now in a challenge, which you have to accept anyway because you were a single model, you do one wound to the challenger. that is just one wound, but afterwards, everyone within 3"(everyone in the unit) take a toughness test or dies. Think about how many IG fit within 3" of a DP, half of them die.

Add a black mace. Vector strikes are always ap3, kill 1 infantry and swoop into the middle of some more targets. Black mace goes off at the end of the movement phase at the final position of the deamon prince. Deamon weapons also add d6 attacks that are always at ap2 when the dp decides to use smash attacks. A nurgle dp with a black mace is expensive but nasty.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It's also 3+/5++ invo/3++ cover when it jinks while flying. Gives up shooting but it can still vector strike with a black mace.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

The black mace cannot be used on a demon prince.

It requires the mark of khorne. Demon Prince's do not get access to any marks, they get to be made demons of only...

This will hopefully be FAQ'ed but until then, it's a no go.

The CSM DPs have a much better statline than the CD ones. Give the similar price tag, the biggest drawback is the lack of eternal.

IS there any sub 200 build of any worth for DP's?
If not what kind of DP is generated with boon of mutation? (meaning what model is needed to represent it?)

A stock one, no wings, no mark unless the model in question had a mark.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

He has a power armour, though.

There is some back and forth on the subject it seems. Well, i got a chance to run one for fun.

Nurgle DP, 355

Power armour
3 mastery lvls
Wings
Black Mace
Spell familiar

Super expensive but for what he could do i feel like its worth it if you have the points to throw around. If nothing else it was fun.

Do people have railgun spamming tau players they face regularly?

Pretty sure not all the games people use a prince in are going to be against railguns.

Dark Eldar- 1500pts Completed
Grey Knights- 1500pts 1 Guy done
Chaos Daemons- Approx 5000pts
Slaanesh Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Khorne Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Death Korps of Krieg- Plans being formulated.

High Elves- Approx 2000pts

Fine, then a Death-ray. Dont see many of those? Ok then a demolisher cannon. Not with your local meta? How bout a warboss with a PK. But Orks suck this edition so we wont have to worry bout that.
All joking aside the demon price is very vulnerable to ID and im sure ur opponent will treat if as a priority if he or she has any form of ID weapon or S10. So I think running a 350 flying Hq is a bit risky. I would personally stick with just wings, a black mace and a MOT or powerarmor for protection for roughly 230 points.

My point is against various weapons, such as railguns and the mentioned vindicator (demolisher cannon really) and zoanthropes, you're looking at losing a 355p model in a single shot. This is the downside, and its not that much of a beatstick either. It's a fun unit, outside of that though...

Yea I must agree with you guys I think with the right powers you can make a crazy, crazy good daemon prince! The black mace is amazing! Level 3 psyker and flying around and stuff with a spell familiar... Plus he gets better each time he kill other characters... I feel like he could really be one of most feared unit in the game...

In my last battle, I used a Tzeentch DP with wings, PA, Mastery Level 3 (all pyromancy) and gift of mutation. This guy did a lots of damage with Spontenous Combustion and Molten Beam. More importantly, he survived a battle with two wounds left (he lost one from crash-landing and one in close-combat). And before anyone asks, my opponent was Tau with 3x3 Broadsides...

I would say that while DPs are overcosted by at least 20 points, a good player can make a good use of them. Problem is, that frankly, they don't neccessary worth the trouble.

Oh, and one important thing you shouldn't forget: Daemon Princes don't have the Champion of Chaos special rule.

Daemon Princes don't get "Champion of Chaos" so no rolls on the table. At least they aren't forced to challenge.

You can buy them a gift of mutation if you want to use the chart, as if they aren't expensive enough.

Regarding the fear of instant death, taking the mark of Nurgle tends to deal with that problem.
Naturally, still be careful around force weapons.
