I was going to use the FW Mark III Heresy armor for my chosen. Mine will be toting special weapons instead of CCWs, though.

Off topic and I'm probably behind the times, but was the Dark Vengeance box set's price reduced?

$99 for the Standard Edition, which is cheaper than the Limited. That may be what you are thinking of.

In November, we see the release of a kit with 5 chaos cultists, 3 with autogun and 2 with pistol/hand weapon:

So basicly a useless box of cultists. They should have at least done 5 of each type then you could at least build a squad with a couple of boxes.. As it is you need to buy 5 boxs to make a single squad of HtH guys.

Those are the same sculpts that come in the starter set.

I'm surprised they did even this much, and I am completely certain that a multi-part Cultist kit will not happen in the lifespan of this Codex.

And you still don't get a Champion and Flamer/Stubber options. It's really just a "Here's some models you can use to boost your DV units!" set.

But...on the bright side it may be the same cost as the other snap fit infantry figs from other factions.

Wow, only 5 Cultists, and mixed weapons at that. It'll probably cost $20 (or more!) to boot.

I guess I can safely go ahead and sink any money I would have spent on GW Cultists on DreamForge Stormtroopers to stand in as my cultists (the Autogunners anyhow)

An amazingly stupid release... A whole FIVE cultists?

Dark Vengeance was such an awesome start for CSM and the new edition, but the ball has officially been dropped hard with release of the new CSM stuff (except Raptors/Talons) and this new release.

Moving onwards and upwards from FineCast and FineLawyer, GW brings us the new and not-so-exciting "FineRelease"...

I'm starting to agree with Doobie's assessment of the Cultist rules in the Codex:

1. The only options they have match the exact models that come in DV.
2. They have nothing more than can be added to them.
3. They're not getting any sort of multi-part release.

I really think it's one-and-done for Cultists. They won't be around in the next Codex.

Its looking that way. So much potential (see FW cultist figs, options and rules), so much fail...

I doubt there will be multipart Cultists in this edition, but isn't it a bit too soon to talk about the next codex?

Anyway, many armies do have some sort of a cheap, snap-fit plastic set available for newbies... I guess Cultists will fill this role for Chaos.

Check the 5-Cadian box for comparison:

Doesn't the 3 model snap-fit Chaos Marine set aready fill that role?

Maybe not so much with the new art direction of Chaos Marines, and the opportunity Dark Vengeance makes. Perhaps GW is going to ditch that set, or there are actually going to be two snap-fit sets available for some time. Considering the talk of a plastic CSM revamp in this very thread, ditching out the original snap-fit set would make sense.

IMO, the most the cultists will be getting anytime soon is some finecast models with the different icons.

People were saying that GWs reaction to the whole Chapterhouse mess was to release all the models with each codex release. It seems to me that they are actually cutting out all rules and even squad options out of codexes that their model range doesn't support. I foresee an edition of very bland codexes.

Why would you assume they are making models for options that don't exist in the book, especially when we already know they are getting a plastic box, however small it may be?

Just in time for the Chaos and Dark Angels codices which funnily enough suffered from this problem some 5+ years ago.
