I found a way.
Also, would the owners of the Black Rock Foundation be willing to sell their lands/property to me?
Here's another way:
Through an accidental click, I destroyed Shrike's shields!
It was literally a 1m wide gap in the hull that I shot, causing the thing to collapse! The irony!

If you just want to build near the buildings already there thats fine, pretty much the only area Im using has basalt bricks laid out so anything not on those go nuts.

Well, the plan was to buy up all of that land, so as to have a ready to go base to express industrial might against Shrike.

You can use the 2 tower buildings plus the basement area but the main larger building with all my machines in it Id like left as is.
Both the towers have access tunnels underneath to the basement, one tower is empty as is the basement. They just have some lighting installed. Automatically Appended Next Post: Im having a rather hard time finding iron on the new server.

Dark can check the logs for when you said "I won't blow up your base, shrike"
also, you didn't destroy the forcefield, just cut the power cable feeding it and managed to blow a hole in the wall at the same time... and oddly blow another hole 10 blocks further down the line...

If you're strip mining by hand in the mining age, because it's solid rock, it can be quite tiring to just keep mining through all the cobble, only ever able to see the 6 blocks around you. Compare this to caving in the overworld, where you can just walk right on by all the stone, looking for exposed iron over a much larger surface area.
The mining age is more suited to turtles, quarries and other automated means of mining. While it will have more ores than the overworld (as there's no caves), it also has a lot more stone to get through . You also won't find any marble in the mining world, as the terrain gen setting for marble is for it to replace air, and there are no caves, so no air, so no marble.
I think it's perfectly fine to cave mine for exposed ores in the overworld, but strip mining, and any automated mining, especially quarries, should be in the mining world.
The Dark Apostle wrote:Should we not rename this thread to tekkit/FTB? It seems only fitting.

I'll probably branch off a separate FTB thread at some point, but not yet while it's just a test server at the moment. Unless others think it should be separated?
There's no map at present, maybe later. Like I said, I'll be testing a lot of stuff on the server and at the moment I want to get a baseline of how things go without any additions so it's easier to see how extra addons (such as the live map generation) affect it.

That would be a great feature if it wasn't in the top right. It flickers because it clashes with the map.
I know the map can be moved and then it's fine, but I like the map in the top right. Any other corner and it feels wrong or obtrusive. The NEI tooltip on the other hand could go anywhere because it's small, but I couldn't find any setting other than the one to turn it on and off.
I can't remember where that setting is right now, but bring up your inventory, click "Options" in the bottom left corner, and browse around NEI's menus.

The lag you're describing sounds like internet lag. I had it when my former ISP decided to start limiting my bandwidth to 256K after 5 years of perfectly fine service. (Note the former). Check you're not also being limited or if someone else in your household isn't hogging the internet

If you're trying to use beds in a Mystcraft age like the Skylands, you may be out of luck. Overworld should be fine.

The two villages I saw both had villagers in them, so you may just be unlucky.

Certainly no-one else was using the internet at the time, but it sometimes does play up here.

well, having a look through the Portal Guns available, there is quite a few variations. And, none of them seem to be that demanding. The hardest item(s) would be Nether Stars.
Dark, if we as a community decide to develop our own version of the [annoying robot voice on]Apature Science Computer-Aided Enrichment Center[annoying robot voice off] would it be possible to get the Nether Stars obtainable through 'tests' in vast quantities, as opposed to just going and getting them (which is an option if people want to)

The village right near spawn did have villagers in it but they appeared to die off or become zombies over about an hour of me playing.
Was annoyed, I wanted to trade them for a diamond pick.
So, far as I can see villagers are indeed not spawning.
