Mountains o' Gold
Due to his 45 years at the helm of the biggest Ork Mercenary fleet in the galaxy, Ukzork has acquired vast mountains of riches, which he brings with him to battle. This impenetrable fortress of wealth confers Ukzork a 2++ Save.

Hit and Run
If there is one thing Ukzork knows from his times scouring for the big paycheck, it's that his size is not his strong point. He steals/destroys the enemies wealth (if they have nothing, he is richer than they are!) and runs away, further and faster than those he just targetted . This psychic power is used in the movement phase. On a roll of a 2+, pick up to 3 models belonging to your opponent and smash them to pieces. If your opponent does not react within 3 seconds, smash another model to represent Ukzorks determination to push his luck in his quest to be the richest by any means possible.

I think you're looking for the other unique characters thread, the one without balanced in the title. "Your own unique characters in 40K" I think. We're doing it a bit more seriously here.

Well guys, I've been privately warned by our Fascist Overlords to stop writing such wildly imbalanced characters.
So, in the interests of conformity I've drawn up something new. Balanced suggestions are hard work but it feels worth it in the end.

The Honor Knights are the best chapter ever. They always fight with swords because they are honourable knights and they are taught to fight with a sword in each hand because it is the best way to kill enemies fast and efficiently and honourably. The home planet of the Honor Knights was destroyed from orbit by foul traitors without honor, and when that happened the Honor Knights decided that sometimes they need to use guns as well so they practiced a lot and became good at shooting too, but they don't like it.

Captain Spartacus Sharp of the Honor Knights
W B S T W I A Ld Sv
8 5 4 4 3 7 5 10 3+/3++
Wargear: Power Armour, Superblade, Frag and Krak Grenades
Special Rules: IC, ATSKNF, Eternal Warrior, Feel No Pain, Elite Killer

Superblade
Spartacus got this sword from the inquisitor king when they met during this one battle. It is extremely old and powerful and in the hands of Spartacus Sharp, hyper deadly.
Superblade is a relic blade that has AP2, like the old relic blades because it's old. Also, the wielder can choose to attack with different fighting styles like so:

HONORSTORM: The wielder may make two attacks for every enemy model engaged in the fight.
SUPERPOWER: The wielder halves his attacks for this round, but resolves hits at strength 10 and rolls 2d6 for armor penetration.
BLADEWALL: The wielder may not attack at all, but is only hit on a roll of 6 and may re-roll failed saves. Also works against shooting attacks because he hits the bullets away.

Elite Killer
Spartacus Sharp is one of the greatest fighters in the universe. His code of honor forbids him from ever giving up so he just comes back stronger every time and it's like fighting Vegeta from Dragonball Z.
When fighting in a challenge, Spartacus Sharp can re-roll up to 10 dice per turn, as if he had 50 more friendly models than the enemy. Also, in a challenge his FNP save is increased to 3+.

I was thinking around 175pts?

Colonel Ferdinand Foch
An unnaturally resilient officer with a knack for getting himself into and out of tight spots, Col. Foch has been reported missing presumed dead thirteen times so far. His last disappearance was during the war for Armageddon, but the Imperial Guard has not taken him off the active duty roster yet, since he's probably still alive somewhere trying to make it back to report in.

Mega Gob: Manuz knows that he is the meanest and toughest Ork in his Waaagh! So he has to wear the biggest Iron Gob. His Gob has stopped a Lascannon shot and a direct hit from the tusk of a Gargantuan Squiggoth, and both times it stayed intact. The Mega Gob gives Manuz a 4+ Invulnerable save.

Trophy Rack: Manuz Gobsnaga has defeated many foes who have challenged him, and he has collected a trophy from them every time, leading to him having a very impressive trophy rack filled with trophies from Space Marines, Humans, Eldar, and even other Orks. Orks from his Waaagh! become inspired when they see this. Any allied Ork within LoS to Manuz Gobsnaga act as if their unit has one more boy for the purpose of Mob Rule. Imperial Guard:

High Lord Uber General Dalkas Mennov

High Lord Uber General Dalkas Mennov leads the Jorlogos 15th Arctic Hares. He is the master of accomplishing very little for very high costs. Mennov leads with swagger and incompetence. He is a mouse among men, a mediocre officer and probably mild pain itself. He was notable for running away during the Battle of the Holy Saint Kelan when his regiment faced off against the Space Wolves 2nd great company who he had mistaken to be Thousand Sons traitor marines, which was actually an Arctic Hare victory thanks to the initiative of Mennov's water boy (who happened to have learned great leadership skills by not doing what Mennov did).

However, despite his gross incompetence, he is the survivor of dozens of campaigns and has won his share of battles by simply letting his underlings do what they were trained for. Whenever there is a victory attained by a junior officer Dalkas will always be there to take the credit, no matter the cost in human lives.

This Independent Character may either be taken on his own or be purchased as an "upgrade" to a Company Command Squad, replacing the much more qualified Company Commander.

WS: 2 BS: 2 S: 3 T: 3 W: 3 LD: 3 I: 3 SV: 3++

Wargear:
Chest of Medals, Golden Encrusted Laspistol, Power bottle, Incredibly expensive Armor, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades

Special Rules:
Highly Decorated, Armchair General, That IG General, You aren't the boss of me!

Highly Decorated:
General Mennov has more awards than brain cells. In fact, the amount of Imperial medals the adorn his chest is so great that it can even stop the power of direct Battle Cannon rounds. Therefore, General Mennov gains a 3+ armor save that can be rerolled if failed.

Armchair General:
General Mennov, being from a opulent family, has a rotund belly and runs a mile in 40 minutes. Therefore, he and his unit's movement will be restricted to 3" Maximum. In addition, he also lacks the skills to maintain a cohesive force. All units within 4D6" must use his Leadership. This distance is rolled during the beginning of each turn since some Sergeant's may take the initiative to actually lead their men but only to be put "back into line".

You aren't the boss of me!:

Being a High Lord Uber General is hard work after all and Dalkas doesn't appreciate these power armored upstarts telling him how to do his job, no matter how scared he is. Thus, Mennov and his unit will treat any allies as Desperate Allies. In addition, Mennov honestly believes his orders are the best there can be. Therefore Mennov's unit cannot be issued orders by anyone.

That IG General:
If you were to describe Mennov's strategy, strawman Imperial Guard officer would be the best way to speak of it. He has little regard for the lives of his men. He has no grasp of actual strategy beyond using more men. You know that General that everyone compares the relatively good officers to? He's that IG general. Replace the normal orders chart with this one:
Spoiler:

Throw More Guardsman at the Problem Until It Goes Away
Upon a successful order the unit in question must assault the closest enemy unit. If the unit being ordered is part of a Infantry Platoon, then the entire platoon must assault the enemy. If the Platoon or unit is wiped out before destroying it's target, put the unit into reserves and bring it back onto the board as soon as possible. The unit then most move as fast as it can to attack the target during the turn it comes on to the board.

Tactics? What? Just pass me the cheese.
Upon the successful issue of this order, the unit in question can shoot at differing targets using snap shots. For instance, a squad of guardsmen may shoot a squad of space marines with half of their models and then a dreadnought with the sergeant. The Rapid Fire rules do not apply under this order.

You! Go kill that nasty over there!

Upon the successful issue of this order, the unit in question must select one model to challenge the nearest model with the highest leadership. The model chosen from your unit now gains furious charge and nothing else.

Golden Plated Laspistol:
S: 2 AP:-1
The Golden Plated Laspistol is a heirloom of the Mennov family. But it is useless as a military weapon. The model being fired at using this pistol gains a +1 modifier to their armor save due to the -1 AP of this weapon. For instance, a Terminator can never be wounded by this weapon due to a 1+ armor save. Yes, he will autopass each wound. Deal with it.

Power Bottle:
S: User AP: 1

Suprisingly effective, considering it's a weapon made from an old wine bottle and power sword hilt.

Incredibly Expensive Armor
General Mennov has very expensive armor. If he takes an unsaved wound during the shooting phase, he must fight at initiative step 1 during the following movement phase to avoid getting it damaged. He, however, can reroll one morale check per game as he remembers how much better he is than everyone else. This rule applies to the rest of his squad as well as they must protect (and enjoy) his Incredibly Expensive Armor. However, if he joins another unit then that unit may not reroll it's morale check since they don't care about his shiny armor.

Upgrades:

Spoiler:

Mennov may replace his Laspistol and/or Power Bottle with...

Ornate Bolt Pistol 7 Pts
S: 4 AP: 6

Poorly Maintained Boltgun 7 Pts
S: 4 AP: 6

Dull Power Weapon 3 Pts

S: x1.5 AP: 4

S: 7 AP: 2
Always Gets Hot! (This weapon always gets hot! Every time this weapon fires inflict a S: 3 AP: - attack upon Mennov)

Misused Meltabomb
S: 8 AP: 2

Krieg! What a hole...

Character:Figured I'd drop him here, created him because, as some of you know, I really love my Grenadiers

A bit of lore: the 6th Company of the 5th Krieg regiment is one of the veteran companies from the siege of Vraks, as such, its Vraks bear more Grenadiers and other veterans than most companies, the commanding officer, 5601 has been drawn from these veterans and kept most of his old Watchmaster gear as he took on his Captain duties, the great number of veterans allowed him to try out new strategies.

Stats line (Standard Krieg stuff, save for the 4+ and 10 lds)

WS: 5

BS: 4

I: 3

A: 3

Ld: 10

SV: 4+

Wargear: Mastercrafted hotshot laspistol with intergrated vox system (in the back mounted powercell, duh!), powersword, carapace armor, frag grenades

The vox system allows 5601 to send his order 6'' with a further, 12'' if the squad has a vox caster of their own (the leadership roll cannot be re-rolled in this case)

Special rules: Veteran company, 2 new orders ''They are already dead'' and ''Grenadiers, form rank! Fire at will!'', Senior Officer, Iron Discipline, Die Hards, Hardened Fighters (the last 3 rules are standard for any Krieg soldider find them here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/k/kreig.pdf)

Veteran company: Grenadiers maybe taken as troops, the veterans of the Company Command squad have the same gear as a standard Grenadiers

''They are already dead'': The unit who received this order may fire at units locked in melee, shots that miss are resolved agaisnt friendly troops, all normal saves apply.

''Grenadiers, form rank! Fire at will!'': This works the same as FRFSRF but for Grenadiers, it affects the following weapons: Hotshot lasgun

Quick comparison to Creed: Can give 2 orders to Creed 4, can potentially reach 24'' just as Creed, his single hotshot laspistol is MC (count as twin linked, right? or did memory failed again), however he gets a power sword and +1 WS, also custom orders. No tactical genius sheninagans, but there's the FoC sheninagans.

Was thinking at the very least 90 points, as an upgrade for a Company Command Squad.

Might bump him to 100 pts.

I'm not familiar with IG rule but here's something I've wanted to do a long time

Please tell me a good points limit for these guys, and maybe help me improve them?

Junior officers Priest & Cook

These two friends were left behind by the 4th Cadian regiment in a death world filled with plague zombies, along years they have picked up equipment and skill to fight against the endless hordes of zombies. Never leaving each other behind they fight through the world with only one goal: Escape!

WS 5
BS 5
S 3
T 4
W 2
I 4
A 3
Ld 10
Sv 4+

Unit size: 2

The stats are identical to both

Wargear
Priest: survivalist flak armour, Bolt pistol, lasgun, Survivalist knife, Tracking beacon, survival kit
Cook: survivalist flak armour, las pistol, power fist, medical kit

survivalist flak armour:
Improved flak armour made to be as durable and light as possible.
Gives 4+ armour save
Survivalist knife
A multipurpose knife
Priests CC attacks are made with 1+ S and AP5
Tracking beacon
a small sensor gives away the position of the enemy when near.
Priests and Cooks snapshots hit on 5+
Survival kit
A huge backpack filled with everything to survive a zombie apocalypse.
Once every 2 turns, Priest and Cook can fire their weapons twice
Medical kit
A smaller backpack carried by Cook holds medical tools for emergencies
Confers the rule 'Hang in there buddy!'

Special rules:
Priest & Cook: Zealot, Hit and run, Relentless, Stealth, Hang in there buddy!, We're gonna get out of here!

Hang in there buddy!
So strong willed are the two friends that they'll never leave each other behind
When Priest or Cook loses their final wound, do not remove the model, instead place it lying on the table where it was killed. If the other friend is still alive he can try to revive his friend. Roll a D6, on a roll of 3+ the fallen friend is placed back again with only 1 wound left

We're gonna get out of here
If BOTH Priest and Cook leave reach the enemy's table edge, the controlling player receive 2 extra killpoints or count as holding an additional objective for the rest of the game

What about when you're actually fighting zombies? Like typhus zombies. Preferred enemy: zombies??

High Lord Uber General Dalkas Mennov

WS: 3 BS: 4 S: 3 T: W: 4 LD: 3 I: 4 SV: 3++

Wargear:
Chest of Medals, Golden Encrusted Laspistol, Power bottle, Incredibly expensive Armor, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades

Special Rules:
Highly Decorated, Armchair General, That IG General

Highly Decorated:
General Mennov has more awards than brain cells. In fact, the amount of Imperial medals the adorn his chest is so great that it can even stop the power of direct Battle Cannon rounds. Therefore, General Mennov gains a 3+ armor save that can be rerolled if failed.

Armchair General:
General Mennov, being from a opulent family, has a rotund belly and runs a mile in 40 minutes. Therefore, all movement will be restricted to 3" Maximum. In addition, he also lacks the skills to maintain a cohesive force. All units within 4D6" must use his Leadership.

WS3 and BS4 seem a little high, might want to tone that down a little. Also, is the 4d6" command rolled at the beginning of the game, or every turn? It's important to know how loud he feels like yelling on any given turn to have his "orders" executed.

One suggested special rule:

"What would YOU know about it? YOU'RE not a High Lord Uber General!": Mennov's ego forbids him from taking suggestions from his subordinates, no matter how intelligent they may be. Mennov's unit may never receive orders.

Ooooh! My turn! My turn!

Marluxia, Herald of the Heartless Crusade

WS7 BS5 S4 T5 W4 I5 A3 Ld10 Sv3+ Pts170

Unit Type: Infantry

Wargear: Oblivion, Bolt Pistol, Power Armour, Blight Grenades, Sigil of Corruption.

Special Rules: Mark of Nurgle, Champion of Chaos, Fearless, Feel no Pain, Independent Character, Heartless.

Oblivion: This corrupted scythe is said to be the twin creation of "Manreaper". The slightest scratch from this weapon drains the very life-essence from its victim. This is a melee weapon with the following profile:

Range -, S User, AP2, Melee, Soul Drain, Poisoned (2+)

Soul Drain: Anytime Marluxia's close combat attacks with this weapon cause one or more unsaved wounds, roll a D6. On a 3+, he regains a wound lost previously. If he is at full wounds, he gains +1.

Heartless: His greatest gift from Nurgle; Marluxia is both alive and dead and yet, is neither. Forever doomed to lead his unholy crusade against the mortal realm, Marluxia's endurance is legendary. Marluxia's Feel no Pain saves are made on a 4+ instead.

Krieg! What a hole...

I'd say remove the ''gets +1 wound for each unsaved wound'', seems to easy to get.

Azyr Skoros, Lord of the Architects of Death........................240 points

WS...BS...S...T...W...I...A...LD...Sv
....6.....5.....4...4....3...5..4....10....3+
Unit type: Infantry (character)
Wargear: Hand of Mutare, the Edge of Reality, Power Armor, Frag and Krak grenades,

Hand of Mutare: This powered gauntlet is a psychic conduit, allowing Azyr to unleash searing blasts of raw psychic power at his foes. This counts as a Spell Familiar and is also a shooting attack with the following profile:
RTemplate S3 AP4 Assault 1, Soul Blaze
If Azyr may spend up to two warp charge to enhance the power of this weapon. If he spends
1 warp charge, the weapon becomes S3 AP3
2 warp charges, it becomes S4 AP3 and gains the Torrent special rule

Edge of Reality: This magnificent blue sword swirls with raw empyrean energy, tearing apart anything it touches with ease.
R- S+2 AP2 Melee, Two-Handed, Shred

Special Rules: Sigil of Corruption, Mark of Tzeentch, Psyker (Mastery level 3), Champion of Chaos, Gift of Mutation, Teleporter

Teleporter: Azyr can manifest an ability quite similar to a Imperial Librarians Gate of Infinity ability. However, due to his favor with Tzeentch and skill with magic, his precision and safety is far superior. This is a blessing that targets Azyr and his unit. Azyr may spend his Warp Charges to teleport him and his unit in the following manner:
If he spends:
1 warp charge- 8" teleport instead of moving.
2 warp charges- 16" teleport instead of moving
3 warp charges- 30" teleport instead of moving. This may only be used once per battle, as the concentration required to teleport such a distance is incredibly strenuous.

If his unit is unmarked, there is a chance something will go wrong, and any double rolled on the leadership test causes one model to take a wound with no armor or cover saves allowed. If the unit has the Mark of Tzeentch, then there is no risk.

New points breakdown:
65 - Lord
75 - 3 psyker levels
30 - Edge of Reality
20 - Hand of Mutare
50 - MoT, SoC, and GoM
Total - 240
