Hey Ritides if you want in we can go in together. As for the discount being romeo and Neal don't get along i wouldn't count on it being at the warstore.

Bout to find out, just sent the warstore an email.

According to Neal, if they can get it through distribution, then they will probably carry it.

Looks like you can NOT select the Lawmen as one of your starters - it is add on ONLY.

If that's the case... I don't think I'll be pledging.

I might give the game a look once it hits retail though...

@Alpha,
That is indeed the case, but they will increase in price to from $60 to $80 a starter box and no additional voucher also, which would reduce the entire of your next order.

I'm sure this has been answered, and I could probably figure this out on my own, but a starter has what 8 models? 1 Boss, 1 Underboss, 5 Hired Hands, and a Heavy Support Vehicle? For 80 dollars? O.o

To be fair, that's not unreasonable.

Compare with Malifaux plastics:
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Rail-Crew-Box-Set-WYR30521.html
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Rail-Golem.html
One Boss (Mei Feng)
One Underboss (Kang)
4 Hired Hands (Rail Workers + Emberling)
1 Heavy Support (Rail Golem)
All for $70.

With the Relic Hunters Boxed Set:
http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Relic-Hunters-Box-Set-WYR1056.html
They have an additional figure in there for +$5

Take into account that WWE's miniatures are noticeably larger at a silly 35mm or so, and that can justify a further +$5.

That being said, $80 is incredibly high for what is supposed to be a starter set. For that price, the 40k starter is a much better deal. They should have just dropped the heavy vehicle thing and priced it at $40.
Considering this is an unestablished game from anunestablished and untried miniatures company, they'll have a difficult time attracting people into the game at that price point especially if they exclude online retailers. Why would someone start Wild West Exodus when Malifaux and Warmachine are right around the corner, have infinitely more creative fluff, have an established player base, and are cheaper?

That's still not too bad for the price, but like Absolutionis says, 80 dollars for stuff from an untested company doesn't put me in a nice light.

Also Absolutionis, you should know this well enough that those 70 dollars for the Mei Fang crew is pretty much all you might need for a long while . But that's another thing entirely.

And that's a perfectly valid way to compare them, considering the models he compared them too also outside of the kickstarter discount zone.

That is tempting...

IF I can trade it in towards the Lawmen mini-starter.

Is that confirmed?

I don't think this game has legs. Their insistence on resin for everything other than Hired Hands indicates they expect sluggish sales. At least sluggish enough that they can't cut steel for bosses, underbosses, heavies, etc. Okay, that "might" not be the worst indicator of fail but consider also that these models, at retail price, are easily on par with the pricing of GW models. In some cases Outlaw is charging a whole lot more than GW. For example, in the skirmish game Necromunda $55 gets you a Cawdor gang and a "booster" pack, or 13 models. You get 14 models for $80 from Outlaw. With few exceptions, you also get a better per-model deal buying a GW battleforce/battalion than you do buying a starter set for WWE.

The larger models seem to be better priced than GW offerings but they're mostly blocks of resin rather than light-weight plastic kits. I also don't know if they compare to a Skaven HPA or a 40k Dread in size so I can't speak to which would be the better value for your money.

So, outside the KS, I really don't see this selling well if Romeo achieves his goal of eliminating discounters. Wyrd already has Malifaux filling this part of the hobby market and I think Wyrd will be the one left standing in another two years or so.

I think the best option for people is to get the faction you want most via the KS and then get some fan-made rules for using them in your other favorite Sci-Fi game or "weird west" game like Malifaux.

I could have sworn I read that Lawmen were an add-on only item. No trading. I'll go through the posts and see what was last said.

Edit: Found it in the FAQ at the bottom.

Can the Lawmen Mini Starter be swapped out for other starters?

No, the Lawmen Mini Starter can not be swapped out with any other starter box. The Lawmen Mini Starter is a special add-on item only.

Normal MSRP is $105 - KSRP is $60

A bit early to declare this game DOA, Breotan, with how the campaign has done. There's really no way to say how it will do (skyrocket or flop) other than 1000 folks are very into it, with probably several times that as interested observers. Plenty of companies make resin models, and few make plastic- it's expensive and challenging to do for so many options.

It is a bit of a grey issue - I'm not looking to swap out a starter for the Lawmen, I'm looking to use the "Rotten Module" and its declared trade in value of $40 towards getting the Lawmen mini-starter.

There's a difference - but I'd still like some clarity before committing!

I'm not declaring it DOA based on how the KS was run. I'm declaring it "in the ambulance, hooked up to the defibrillator" because of the chosen price points and limited market (niche) that already has heavy competition from day one.

The Lawmen are an add-on so my understanding is that you can apply the $40 to their purchase just as you can for any other add-on.

I'm in, but a world wide player base of around 1000 isn't huge. It'll take some doing :-)

The 3-1 for the Wave 1 Light Support to get Wave 2 Light Support is pretty BS....3 to 2 would have been reasonable since they are pretty close on the price points that way but 3 to 1 just pushed back out again. This is pretty solid fight just because of the models I'd like to order to paint.

There are 9x plastic kits being produced. 2x for each faction and 1x for the Lawmen, due to partial release.

Each plastic mould will cost $20,000 therefore = $180 just in tooling costs alone.
Then we expect staffing cost, fuel, other assets, rent and rates, tax, KS taking their share of the pledged amount, delivery costs for USA deliveries etc......

I think that this is taken very seriously indeed. As for the next 6 months they will have whatever there is left from their funding to allocate to their overheads and liabilities.
I would personally hate to look at the trial balance on this little lot if it was my business venture.

You need to be mindful not to allow beliefs to shape events and to allow events to shape beliefs.
So I think there will be interesting times ahead, and I am sure I will be buying more in years to come.

Still don't like the idea that the Lawmen were "announced" but you still can't trade in to get them...

Same here Alf - it might just keep me out of pledging.

I would've gone in at the $115 level for certain.

Now, not sure...

Still a bit too cluttered, but not by much. Also... can't they please center the life points?

Edit: Madmick, what Dakka Army Track are you on? I can't seem to find it in the listings from the ones down in Nuts and Bolts. I was curious as to what I'd have if I were on your army track.

Terrain is already part of the kickstarter. In fact, that's what I'm in for. They have commissioned stuff from Micro Art Studios, both MDF buildings and resin(?) stuff like barricades. I think the resin track segments are being done by Outlaw but I might be mistaken. They look like S-gauge so you may even be able to just grab actual track off eBay for cheap. I've no way to tell if this will work or not so you'll want to wait and see if someone else can confirm.
