Thinking about getting these to make a zombie army with the new chaos codex. I don't expect much modeling wise. What I do want to know is: are they same size or slightly smaller than a guardsman (zombies might shrink a bit as they loose water weight and such) ? $10 for 100 just seems like a great way to get a bulk force. Anyone have a picture they can post up? I am not worried about hacking them up and using greenstuff to individualize them or make them a bit bigger. Anyone got them?

Way too small man, like 20mm scale.

I knew too good to be true. Is that an actual height measurement? I heard on a podcast they were onl 2mm smaller than a standard guardsman. Also if their base is thin then upgrading to a standard GW base would add a couple mm. Or am I just grasping at straws here?

What exactly are you going for? They aren't GW so it really doesnt matter if they don't mach up. If you're somewhere that doesn't care if you use another companies models it won't matter if they're too small or not.

If you play at a GW store then they'll make you use GW products when you play there.

If not then I would go with manic zombies

$60 for 60 zombies

Or you can buy them on ebay for less... which is what I did.

They're less possable than the GW ones and come with square bases. But personally I think they look great, they don't have fantasy bits on them like the GW ones and look like a proper undead horde.

Exactly It's not GW so at best you'd be wanting to use a 3rd part product in a GW game. Most tournies disallow them.
I'd prolly buy the Fantasy ones, if I wanted them.

those are for the ZOMBIES!! board game from twilight creations. they are extremly small, only about an inch tall, and rather flimsy. the game they are for is great, and i reccommend checking it out. but for use in 40k ... i think they fail.

Definitely small and definitely flimsy. A lot of them have a nasty lean to either side due to the soft plastic bases. They are still great for "fancy wound tokens" in various zombie games, but I don't think you'll have much luck converting them into anything in 40k. The only use case I could think of would be bodies on the bases of CSMs, since then the tinier size would look good compared to the power armor.

A couple of images that might help with the size:

yeah, I am probably going to order a box or two of Mantic games's zombies. They look good and have a decent price point

At my local GW store, as long as you are playing a GW game, you can use what whatever models you want.

IIRC, Mantic models are 28mm, but in general can look slightly off next to GW models (I'm told this is because Mantic models have more realistic proportions compared to GW)

Honestly, I'd say you're probably fine aesthetically, no one is going to be looking THAT closely.

I had a look at the "Bag of Dogs" from the same company (small dogs are fine, tiny humans not so much), though decided to avoid it due to the need to convert all the monopose models.

I did however buy a box of Mantic Ghouls and another of their zombies. Yes they do have more realistic proportions, but they're (intentionally) the same height as GW models. Mine are plaque servitors (cut down marine back packs, shortened chainswords replacing an arm, and Pig Iron Kolony Ferals heads). XD

Do NOT get these. I got a bag back in 5th ed for the apocalypse plague of zombies. I wasted about 90+ bases and guardsman bitz on them. I didn't have my collection with me when I put them together so I finished just to find out they were horribly downsized and badly modeled compared to 40k stuff. Maybe proxies in a friendly game, but in my opinion they were a waste of $10.
