There's at least an HQ in there because you get the Annihilation Barge which has a plastic Overlord.

battleforces, cultists, and wall-- meh

ice bases-- pretty awesome

under empire- pretty cool, nice rocks, like the dual uses of the green crystals (which also look nice)

death world and badlands bases, disappointingly specific... I was really excited about the potential of some nice ash waste/badlands bases, instead of tombkings & skulls

$33 on those basing kits seems like highway robbery. I could make a ton of mushrooms out of green stuff for "Underempire" bases for probably less than $10. Not terribly impressed by the other kits either.

You're overlooking the six boxes of Cadians you'd have to cut up for the bodies...

Bah, I'll chain some of my extra Ork arms/legs to them so!

But yeah 130 is excessive imho. Anyone going to get one out of interest? Any views?

OMG... That's all the more reason TO buy the GW terrain.
There's no comparison in quality. That stuff isn't bad for someone's basement, but there's no way it's even half the quality of GW.

Kinda agree with MM, quality sometimes does dictate price, however, the GW kit is still.....

$40 for rocks and a few chunks of resin? Jesus christ...

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

While I applaud the "value" of the ebay set, and think that it is not bad - it is light years away in detail quality and workmanship from the gw wall.

I won't be getting the wall, and if I did not make my own terrain (which is about the same quality as the ebay set) I would think they are both priced fine for what they are.

They made the same with Space Hulk. They see it as a success to only have stock for a few days, don't ask.

I imagine it's more of the "sustainable sales" game they're playing with investors. Sell too many sets at once, you can't keep the money coming and the market gets cranky. Do "limited stocks" for a while, and you get a nice spike in your holiday numbers, then the following summer release the parts and trickle in more money.

Are they leaving money on the table that way? Undoubtedly, but that's not what GW is after really. Their primary focus is keeping investors happy, which counter-intuitively can mean going for less money from a strategic point of view.

Anyone recognize the Lizardman mini on the death world kit? I'm not sure if it's just a conversion or a new model coming out?

It's the plastic Temple Guard leader.

As for the "Defense Line"...
They did this with the Cities of Death "Imperial Sector" and the Planetstrike "Imperial Strongpoint". It's just a huge bundle of stuff in a big box.

As for me...I think I'm gonna pick up that Northern Wastes set for basing my Vampire Counts stuff. Those icicles would look pretty great dangling from the underbelly of the Zombie Dragon, I think.

I suppose the idea is that it looks good..."Oh my god, we sold out in like two days!"...but it's not so impressive when you purposely print a limited number and all but ensure that they'll sell out quickly.

Nothing here is really all that interesting. I would have liked the defense line if it wasn't covered in irremovable corpses.

I think these are sort of those 'little boxes' you get, before they release an actual multipart plastic kit, like the 5 gaunts, 3 space marines, 5 IG Cadians, those little ones they new people buy, or people get to test paint schemes.

I'm hoping this is the case, at least, or I'm going to be seriously pissed off.

Robin Cruddace say they make models then they make rules for models. The CSM codex contains no options for cultists that don't appear on the models in the starter set. So we can reasonably conclude the rules were made for the snap-fit models, not an upcoming multi-part plastic kit (unless said hypothetical multi-part plastic kit has the fewest options of any multi-part plastic kit released in the past 10 years). The only question then is this - when 7th edition comes out and Dark Vengeance goes away, will cultists go the way of the LatD of old? The cultist five pack makes it a little less likely, but not much IMHO.

Anyone know if these mega deals will be available to any retailer outside of GW? From GW it's not worth it I think but from a discount seller it might be.

Yep, the regular discount of 20-30%, making it ~$US190 would be very enticing compared to the $AU450 GW retail in Australia.

What's the retail on the Necrons? If someone knows. On my phone so it is hard to price.

$357.50 GW Retail for components
$250.00 GW Necron Mega Force Price
$187.50 MiniatureMarket discount price

This means that if you pick up the mega force from GW, you're getting a 30% discount (huge for GW). Picking it up from an online discounter like MiniatureMarket gives you a total 48% discount off retail. That's a pretty sweet deal if you don't care that retail price is obscenely high in the first place.

Would the Necron Megaforce be a good way to start a Necron army? I wasn't gonna start a cron army until well after the new DA codex came out but seeing the megaforce it looks like a good deal...

Uhhhhhhh.....anybody else seeing crazy weird price fluctuations. Like, I just checked the Necron Megaforce and it was not listed as $400, then I went back 10 mins later and the price had raised to $400.

Same thing with some of the Battalion boxes. I was looking at the Skaven Army box then went back to look at the battalion box and the price had jumped to$170 whereas it's normally around $120. What's going on?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Weird, it looks like I'm now seeing it with everything. Skaven Stormvermin are usually $40 and now they're priced at $83. Is this normal around Christmas?
