How often does the Reputable Traders list get updated?

Merely curious, I understand it is quite a job to keep up with and our mods are only human (mainly) so was just wondering.

The easiest way to look at it is to find out the last time the OP was edited. In this case, it was back on November 14, 2012. So we've had about a month and a half since then, and the thread has continued to move since that edit.

If you're curious about a specific user, you can always run a ctrl+f and search for their name.

The Rep Trader's list has fallen behind somewhat lately and will take a fair amount of work to bring up to date. There is method behind this madness however; there is a new system on its way as part of some changes to the way that the Swap Shop works - you may have already seen we have a semi-automated system in place now for title formats and the rep traders thing is being updated as part of these raft of changes. The new system won't be in place for some time yet but to be honest, for the work involved, there isn't really much benefit in keeping the current rep trader's thread updated since it won't be an ongoing thing anymore, hence why I have held off doing it. At some point soon, I will lock the thread but leave it in place as a resource for current trades as part of a gradual handover to the new system.

That's good to know, and good news about the new system. If the current RT thread will be obsolete do you know if the trades made between the last (and probably final) update will be somehow integrated into the new system or will those trades be lost?

Yes - without wishing to speak for Legoburner and any plans he may have, its pretty unlikely that existing rep will be ported over to the new system, therefore everyone will be starting from a 'blank sheet', so to speak. The current Reputable Traders thread will be left as a sticky for a while yet so that users will be able to cross reference from the new to the old - the only issue being that is unlikely that the OP of the Rep Traders thread will be updated for the foreseeable future; as mentioned before, the work involved to get it up to state is not really worth it in light of future developments.

Thanks for the input Alfndrate and for missing the point entirely. I have made my first trades on Dakka since the thread was last updated and was asking for clarification as to whether those trades would ever see the light of day or be lost with the new system.

Filbert did indeed answer my question, in his last post. The one after yours.......

No, I reread his posts, and half of his question was answered in my post when I quoted Filbert, the other half was answered by Filbert in the post after me, I just felt that what I had said didn't need to be said, I try to keep polite on this site...

That kinda stinks.. I would love it if the reputable trader thread Positive Trade Reputation was factored into a new rating system.

I admit bias, as I think I am one of the top 5 traders, and would reaaaallly hate to see my rating drop to zero.

I suspect that WarOne, and anyone else with at least 50 trades would feel the same.

It would be nice if it could stay locked and stickied so that your reputation could still be referenced with a quick search. At least for a while until the new system was populated with successful trade feedback.

I agree completely and would like to apologise Alfndrate. I was in a particularly foul mood the other day and should of thought sensibly before I posted that. Was a kneejerk post and a bit rude of me. I too try to remain polite on this site and it's safe to say I failed there. Sorry

It's always nice to see other people with the same mindset. I swear trading is the most enjoyable aspect of the game for me...

That said, I'd like to see the refs carry over. If there is monotonous data entry to be done , I'll help.

Oh and I hadn't posted a new thread since the automation went in. Oooh, I'm bursting to post a new one now. That looks pretty slick.

Would it be okay that once the new system is in place that we do a quick post to state who we've completed trades with to try and re-establish some of our rep? All of my trading has been since the last update to the current system and would hate to lose it, can't imagine how some of the more popular traders feel.

Also, with so many scams going on lately, whats to stop people who use this "clean slate" as an opportunity to rip people off? Will there be anything put in place to trace known scammers?

Well, I am one too that will be very disappointed that a new system will not reflect the current trade status of individuals. This will only cause more confusion and hassle working out trusted trades.

I do appreciate the powers behind DakkaDakka coming up with a newer system that would give a better feedback as to what kind of trader and person is. Perhaps something like on Bartertown?

Why are the current trade ratings not being carried over to the new system? That is a big deal to me, I flat out refuse to deal with someone outside of my immediate area unless they have positive feedback.

Probably because the two systems are not compatible.

That being said, if someone needs to convert the current text version to some sort of database format, I would be happy to help.

I've already had to start over at another site that redecorated their trade rep system. It would be incredibly nice to have the trades carried over. Maybe look around for a data entry volunteer?
