Meh. I'm glad I picked up the Hobbit SBG instead of the Dark Angels like I was considering.

It's $5 whole dollars less than before and the only thing that went down in price.

Its worth mentioning Darksphere are doing 25% off preorders on Dark Angels, takes something of a bite out of the price.

So when, exactly to these things release. I don't see a date. I looked on the newsletter....nope. Here's GW's advance order page.
GW Advance Order Page wrote:These products launch on January 12th.

Hobby Centre Delivery

Place your order by 23:59 on the evening of Sunday 6th January, choose to have them delivered to your local Games Workshop Hobby Centre, and we'll guarantee they'll be there for you to pick up on launch day - that's absolutely free of charge, too.

All Other Deliveries

You can also have your miniatures shipped to any other address - place your order by Wednesday 9th January, and we'll despatch it on Friday 11th January. Orders placed after the 9th will be despatched on Monday 14th January. Delivery times will vary according to your chosen shipping method.

Shipping

We know that you want to get your hands on new products as soon as possible, and we offer a range of options for delivery. Whether you choose free shipping, or go for the fast, priority shipping option, we'll ensure that your orders are sent quickly and securely.

Is it the 12th or the 19th? I actually just called GW's customer service desk, but they're Monday-Friday. I don't actually see a release date and I don't think I'm daft.

Re the Land Speeder Vengeance, could that silly front-mounted gunner be replaced with a spare LR/Razorback turret? I think that would remove a lot of the ick design factor for me, although the kit is still stupidly expensive :(

I love how everyone is saying the Nephilim is so much better than the Stormtalon when they are clearly built on the same design scheme. That's hilarious to me.

I'm going to be giving the DA a large pass for now. I'm currently working on my Flesh Tearers, anyway.

I think that standards have been set so low that being better than the Stormtalon is a huge upgrade. When in reality, it's like saying gingivitis is better than lip cancer.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

It's the same scheme but it looks far less cartoonish I don't see what's so ridiculous about that.

Except there is a large difference between them in terms of amount of Gothic bling on one and not the other. If you don't like your fighter aircraft looking like they are decorated with stone and brick, one is very much more appealing depending on your tastes. Just because you don't have the pallet to recognize the differences between the two doesn't mean they don't exist.

That you pay 66% more for a slightly modified sprue

Plus the fact that all Batman flyers look more realistic and less overdone than this:

Since when are GW stopping you from playing on their gaming tables?

All they've done with the Battleforce (same with the Jetbike) is rebox them.

I think he is referring to the decrease to one or two tables and one man reported in alot of gw stores. A side effect of that is that they tend to be reserved for demos rather than open play.

Maybe the dark angels do really worship Chaos. Or am i looking to much into this?

Actually, the Nephilim were the offspring of angels and humans in the Old Testament of the Bible.

Deathwing Terminators: Meh. Seen it before, and frankly I prefer the Dark Vengeance ones.

Deathwing Command Squad: A mix of cool bitz (Apothecary, Standard Bearer) and "meh" ones (Halberd, Sergeant). Overall I've seen conversions that did most of this fine, though their take on the Standard Bearer is excellent.

Deathwing Knights: The best kit of the release by far as well as probably the best Terminator models GW has ever produced. These are basically perfect and I really, really hope their rules are good enough to make them hit local tables often, because I love this aesthetic as well as the overall execution.

So, these are actually all the same kit, and you bash the hell out of it, then change your stance to say it is the best kit of the release by far?

Yup, just a bog standard late medieval war hammer, No creativity invested at all...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_hammer

"A blade or spike tended to be used against other parts of the body where the armour was thinner, and penetration was easier, than through the helmet. The spike end could be used for grappling the target's armour, reins, or shield, or could be turned in the direction of the blow to pierce even heavy armour. Against mounted opponents, the weapon could also be directed at the legs of the horse, toppling the armoured foe to the ground where he could be more easily attacked."

GW stores are not play stores they are there to sell their products, then there's the fact that they have gaming night and so that's when you go to play. My local GW used to have big games on Saturdays but he has reduced it to small games due to the fact that he noticed that his sales went down with big games and up with little games.

Watches?

I'm actually less impressed with a lot of this after seeing the official photos than I was of the dodgy WD scans...

Belial is a serious throwback for a special character sculpt. The pigeon toed stance is awkward looking, and I'm at a complete loss as to just what he is supposed to be doing... He's just standing there with a bored expression on his face waving his weapons in the air. "Yeah, guys, go ... I don't know... assault that ridge, or something. If you feel like it... I have a sword... woo... brain the size of a planet and they send me to fight orks..."

On all three of the bikes with twin plasma the plasma guns don't line up. While that may just be rushed assembly, it would make me worry about the kit being a little warped.

Likewise, the assault cannon and sensor rod on the Land Speeder Ridicorous are both bent. While the sensor rod could be easily fixed, I'm having flashbacks to the release of the Eldar vehicle weapons sprue release, where on at least half of the dozen or so sprues I bought, the missile launchers were warped out of shape.

The terminators... there really does look to be something screwy going on with their anatomy (more than usual). I'm guessing it's just the result of the extra bling all over their armour making the rest look more bulky rather than the thighs actually being smaller, but they look decidedly odd.

And the flyer... I like the initial pics of it, but the angle shown in the 'official' pic looks awkward, The wings are too far forward, so it has the same issue of looking ungainly and unbalanced as the Storm Talon had.

It's lovely to see GW moving towards more clear visual distinction between the various flavours of marine... but this release is overall a big swing and a miss for me.
