Something to point out is that the new flyer is a brand new mold, while it might have the body of a stormtalon it doesnt use anything from that kit.

I have a blog, check it out - http://forthegloryofgorkandmork.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/tau-xv8-02-commander.html - brand new post 11/04/13

We know it's a new kit. It's 100% new sprues.

Hell, I didn't know. I just assumed because the cockpit looked similar, but when I looked at them side by side I finally noticed it really is a brand new kit.

Just noticed something weird about the pricing on an international level.

In Australia the new flyer kit is $81 while the GI-Joe speeder is $85 (equating to 85 and 89 US dollars) , in NZ it's 96 and 100 respectively (equating to 80 and 83 US dollars) . In the US the new flyer is $75 while the speeder is $65 and in the UK the flyer is 45 Pounds (~75 US dollars) while the speeder is 40 Pounds (~66 US dollars).

Somehow the new speeder kit is more expensive in Australia and NZ than the Flyer is there (which is actually very close to the US price) at a rather odd ratio switch relative to the US and UK (and Europe looking at it)

Weird.

Not weird at all. Aussie minimum wage is a hundred thousands times higher than the US one, so we have to pay more. And... umm... that's also why the Speeder costs more. Can't you see it?

'Least that's what everyone keeps telling me... maybe they're wrong?

It probably has been mentioned already, but....

If you buy 3x DW Terminator box + Belial it costs 3x 45,- + 20,25 = 155,25 (euros)

While GW's totally awesome package deal costs 156,-

Do I miss something here or is it time once again?

I get that the Aussie/NZ pricing is usually hugely bloated, but I just don't see why the Speeder is more than the Flyer, and why the Flyer is so much closer to US/UK prices than anything else is

Just to feth with everyone I guess?

I guess one could go off on the tangent there about GW wanting to really, really push flyers, but I'll leave that one alone for now

Nope, you didn't miss anything. Likewise, in the US, 3 new DW boxes plus Belial are $202.25, while GW's package set is...$202.25

At least in $ the price is the same, but down here the package deal is more expensive

I assume the package deals are more about highlighting the shiny new things and seeing if they can't hook a few impulse purchasers by doing so.

As they say to their investors in the annual summary, GW don't do discounts.

Except to other retailers, yes. Let's pray they never pull that rug out.

New Dark Angels, though, look O.K. They haven't swayed me one way or another from my hobby plans but I think Terminators with Plasma Cannons is the way things ought to be. The Terminator legs are a little silly, but all the kids wear skinny jeans these days.

I look forward to the mantis marine release

I think part of the problem isn't just that GW don't let you use your imagination but also that they are struggling with their own imaginations and coming up with stuff that is basically by numbers just by an armies name etc.

Sadly IMO a lot of GW recent releases look just like toys, not all as bad as happy meal toys but not far off.

Hellebore wrote:GW currently only sells the IMAGE of their IP, they've long since lost the substance it once had. And as a result, I no longer wish to partake in their products.

They've decided that the image of a badass marine murderdeathkilling eleventy bazllion Bad Guys is enough to sell their product and are completely ignoring the substance nuance that underlies this image - that they are imperfect creations requiring constant metabolic monitoring, that they've lost their humanity to protect the humanity of others etc.

GW has stopped accepting the consequences of the fiction and simply focused on the actions. And that has turned it into a shallow pulpy mess where pithy one liners describing an army or individual are used as the whole basis of their fiction.

They are basically suffering from Adaptation Distillation and/or decay. But not due to the recreation in other media, but because they are going through multiple sets of authors, each only understanding the uppermost 'image' of the story and starting from there. They lack or actively ignore the subtle contexts that existed before hand. Priestley et al were well educated people and they injected that into their writing. Not to say that it was the greatest thing eva, but it's all the more noticeable when a small amount of substance is removed.

purported leaks of the launch brief, an internal memo telling GW staff how to sell the new products, says it, with no information as to what that might mean for other captains in TDA.

Although imo the captain in terminator armour model in our HQ part of the website, its a good sign that Belial may not be needed.

Something that might be worth mentioning is that Sammael's jetbike is no longer described as the last remaining one. Perhaps GW decided that they should be selling a jetbike squad after all! One can only hope...

It was deservedly called the Dark Age of Technology if man developed the science necessary to colonize the far reaches of space but instead used it to create giant rideable ribbed flying dildos.... which the God Emperor in his infinite wisdom decided were the perfect mounts for the most macho men in the universe. So, we already talked about the silly designs in the rumor thread. What I want to know is, what's the deal with the GW descriptions? Have they been doing this for other armies and I just haven't been paying attention?

I go to the product description for say the Dark Talon and the Darkshroud (oh good, Wardian naming conventions....) because I want to know what the hell they do to justify being high-speed aerial vehicles with added masonry. Instead, the description simply tells me what the models look like. I can see what they look like, THERE'S A GIANT PHOTOGRAPH ABOVE THE TEXT.

I know GW is synonymous with "ineptitude", but Christ, I never thought they'd sink so low as to make me miss the days they filled their product descriptions with badly-written, over-the-top descriptions of how powerful something is...

They have a... bump... on the inside. And the arms have a corresponding recess. Obviously anyone who's not hilariously incompetent can shave/drill the arms on his regular termies to fit the pads, but it's still a hassle.

Since they are switching to more digital sculpting I would imagine that they have a basic shape rendered in that pose and just add the decorations/armor for each army...

I see the recess on the arms, but it's only on some of them... and I'm not seeing any bump on the inside of the pads.

Given that the recess looks to be a different size and shape on each arm, I'm thinking it's intended for some other purpose than locating the shoulder pad. Can't for the life of me think what though.

so i bought the 3 boxs of DW and Belial, a nephilim and the limited codex, this was impulse i must admit, then i looked online and saw all the massivly cheaper deals out there and decided to cancel my order, i called GW and told them, the person on the phone asked me "why", I told him that the fact that i had bought so much and didnt get the same discount online that i wanted to cancel and purchase the items online, this will allow me to purchase another nephilim with the money i would save, so the person on the phone said "ok, to save your custom, we can throw in another nephilim"

GW prices are mad, GW customer service is excellent.

good job that man, i will be sending in a letter to say thank you

thought i would share
