I see the recess on the arms, but it's only on some of them... and I'm not seeing any bump on the inside of the pads.

Given that the recess looks to be a different size and shape on each arm, I'm thinking it's intended for some other purpose than locating the shoulder pad. Can't for the life of me think what though.

The matched pads are all for the shield arms. It is specifically for the Deathwing Knights. This was described in the WD in the model preview section. The shoulder heraldry and the shield heraldry are matched up.

My guess is that the rest of the pads will be standard.

Sad but true.

GW wasn't creative with poses and recycled arms and other body parts.....rarely whole mini's .. its just a step further...

Really? That's great of them to do so. Probably wanted to keep the limited codex "limited" instead of a re-adding one to the website.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, the holes are on the Mace Wielding arms, so you could still easily combine the wrong shield with the wrong shoulder pad, further, given the way most storm bolters are included in the kit, you would have to use those arms with the concave shoulders for your storm bolter wielding Deathwing much the same as your Mace Wielding Deathwing.

Also note that the Storm Bolter on the second frame (the one with the scope) has the same recessed area as does at least one powerfist on the third frame, this is noteworthy because the Storm Bolter and Power Fist are left handed, while the others that feature this are all right handed, and further the Storm Bolter or the Powerfist almost certainly wont be able to pair with a Storm Shield.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Why update a model when you can simply remake him in FineCost, up his cost by 30%, and keep selling a 15 year-old sculpt.

In that particular case, the model has aged quite well. I' d hate seeing him bow legged and carrying a sacristy on his back to out do the awkwardness and overblinging that his subordinate Belial has.

One thing I'll always give GW credit for is excellent customer service. As much as one may have issues with their policies, models, rules, etc, the customer service guys are always great.

I can't tell you how much I love that Terminator Box.

With or without robes.

Some close combat weapons.

All of the shooty choices. (I have plenty of standard terminator arms already, CCW or Powerfist/stormbolter). Very nice box. Can also make some nice HQ models from this box. With my DV box, I'll take this and mix/match with normal terminators for a small fallen DA army to go with my Chaos Space marines. BAM!

This is really something that has become more apparent over the last few releases, but this one really drove it home for me. GW minis have really lost their soul.

Don't get me wrong, I think GW makes some of the best (if not the best) plastic models and kits our there. The amount of bits they are now able to put on a sprue is insane, and the ways you can customize your models just by buying a single box is awesome. GW seems to be able to put insane amounts of details on their miniatures, even though at times it feels like we get detail for the sake of detail. GW is leading the market when it comes to plastic kits and minatures.

But even though they are releasing models with tons of details and are able to come up with good themes to tie them together, they just seem soulless to me. That GW feel is gone IMO. You can still tell they are GW minis, but that individual character of the sculptor seems to be gone.

I remember when you could look at a model and know who sculpted it. I also remember a time where people were less concerned about who wrote the codex/army book, instead we were trying to figure out who was doing the models. Certain sculptors "got" the feelings and aesthetic of an army and that connection came through and was evident in the final mini. That is something that I have not seen in a while now.

I guess loosing that is a byproduct of loosing individually sculptured models and getting a box of 10 marines that could be used to make two separate choices of the base model and then customize it beyond that.

It appears the Dark Angels will not get access to Ironclad Dreadnoughts or a Stormraven. There's probably other things as well, but these are the two that stuck out to me.

Anyone know why they would do that?

I think it's a great box, but only a single Thunder Hammer and pair of lightning claws is a little bit underwhelming given how loaded out the GK box is with weapon options, and that the Deathwing saw a significant price bump in most regions (only $1 more than normal termies in Aus)

The standout for me is the ravenwing box, looks really great, even seems to come with spare banner pole things and kind of a spare front shield (would require some converting) which will be great for doing up attack bikes in the new style, and a ton of other cool bits, like that drum fed bolt pistol, which I'm sure some other models will be stealing in my army, nice bits for making an on-foot apothecary if you don't use him amongst your 3 bikers, a bunch of heads/helmets, the saddle bags and melta bombs, a couple of nice swords, just a wonderful kit that will go well beyond the 3 guys you make from it IMO.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Maybe because the Stormraven is a GK/BA only thing? I mean, that is right in the fluff for that unit, that only two "factions" have access to it.

And I always assumed that the Ironclad was a more "siege" dreadnought, which dose not really fit the DA style of fighting.

I hadn't known the fluff you speak of!! I somehow was under the impression...nvm. I bought one and painted it Deathwing, I was hoping i'd be able to use it. Oh well, only in local friendlies is fine by me.

I still have a complaint with the Ironclad. Yes, I have some of those painted up to.

Why no Storm Raven?

1. Because it's a GK/Blood Angels only vehicle.

2. DA were given the Storm Eagle Assault Gunship instead.

Why no Ironclad?

No idea. They get troop Terminators, variant Land Speeders, and lots of bikes, though. That's pretty cool.

Not so, in fact the Dark Angels designed a new Land Raider variant by sticking a Demolisher cannon on the front specifically for siege breaking, I mean it's not a particularly good variant but they did it.

Long aog in epic the DAs had an all tank company, the Iron Wing. Now gone... just like their American Indian heritage and all black banners...

Seriously the DAs have had more ret cons than any other chapter.

The $70 price (Cdn) is ridiculous, but if a person bought the new DA box and an Assault Terminator box, you'd end up with two solid five man squads, plus a bunch of bits leftover.
