All the time, it was the same in the last codex too so I'm curious, what made you think it might be only against Ranged Attacks?

I'm thinkin' back to the days when it really was a bubble-field, and didn't work against attacks made from inside the field.

Yeah, 2nd Edition was awesome like that.

Quit reading Dune!

2nd edition actually, conversion fields use to work the same way.

Wasn't it Power Fields that worked that way?

Refractor, Conversion and Displacer worked always, Power Fields were only against shooting (to balance the fact that they were 2+ Invul saves).

2nd edition reminds me of an Internet meme:

Yo dog, I heard you like tables. So we put tables inside of tables so you can roll on tables while you roll on tables.

But there is no other game where I could throw a virus grenade and wipe out 3/4 of the opposing Orks in turn one.

Yep, you are correct. Been a few years I guess. Anyhow, while I was doing my sanity check... I saw the stats for Melta Missile. That would be a cool return! With Skyfire...

Conversion field didn't have a bubble, it worked like a Flash Grenade when hit. Hence the story of Vandire blinding the assembled Daughters of the Emperor.

Power Fields didn't either, but they did make you count as encumbered (-1 in CC)

The helmet the Watcher carries contains a bubble conversion field.

The "bubble reference" was only to illustrate that CC attacks aren't defended with the old Power Field. Geez...
