Thanks fellas!

I'm still not sure what this is gonna be, but it's all fitting together well, I'll just keep freestyling

I'm thinking it could be semi-modular too, build additional 1x1' boards so they all fit together..or maybe this will be just a one-off..I dunno.

hmmm.... i look from time to time into terra genesis... but they don“t have a good gallery... there is a ton of OOT cool looking terrain to be found... but you have to be lucky... no real research function so often it is miss instead of hit...

and dave... that looks awesme already... the hollow structure is something i never would have done... somehow my rock sceery always tends to be fully material back to front...and why does cotton wool itch?... (ah... just translated that again... and i meant of course plain cotton panties silly me^^

Thanks Weets!

@Vik- Thanks buddy! Solid rock would be too heavy, and use up a lot of plaster dontcha think?

TG was pretty good for the late 90s/early 2000s but the internet and hobbies have come a long way since then. When Gary James started TG it was good, but then he sold it off to a guy who was kind of a stick in the mud, ruined the community aspect for me. Thankfully, we have that here on Dakka.

well on my diorama for the first comp... i used lots of foamboards... to build the inner structure... but never would i have thought about making it hollow... see... we learn something new each day

and yep... that would make it way too heavy... tho... i have build pure plaster hills already...

and yep... dakka has a brilliant community... at least the part i tend to talk to

but i have also to add... the gallery leaves still much to wish for...

Cool idea like the modular approach, hope we are going to see plenty of vines and jungle plantation

The rock moulds have turned out pretty cool looking better than I imagined, I saw some of these at a toy and train fair years ago and passed them up

Looking forward to see how you progress with this and what kind of architecture develops

Not where I should be

Looking brilliant. Rocks look ace.

I got it its a flying base for the Aircav. Because it's so heavy.

Does look great. And if you built 4 reasonably the same so they all sit back to back. You got a mountain, king of the castle battles! And would also make a very brilliant display stand.

With the rocks are you going traditional granite, or whatever the red rocks are in Arizona, or sandstone?

Got to get me more storage room so I can get going with this sort of thing. Looks so awesome.

Building up nicely Dave. Rocks are looking rocky

What is it that you're building the hollow structure from, is that this foamboard I've been hearing about? Am I to assume the pin-like devices are to hold them in place while gluing?

Thanks guys!

Yes, that is 1/2" foamboard. I used to use those little plastic round head pins, but when you pull them out the plastic head would often come off. These pins are much more durable.

Thanks Silver and Casey!

I must refuel my efforts with a Sunday project...

It takes a special kind of Masochist to torture himself, his better half, and his dog with the smell of this Brisket cooking low and slow for 4 hours.
Even uncooked and fat-side up (so that delicious flavor permeates slowly through the grain of the meat), it's a beautiful marbled thing of beauty for a carnivore isn't it?

I think it should be a jungle weapons depot for the guard, or an Ork cave on a jungle planet that the guard are assaulting if you do the first then you could have marbo or snipers camouflaged in the jungle along with a weapon pit to keep visitors away from the mouth of the cave.

All I know this far, is that it'll have a lazy, double cascading waterfall flowing down in front of the cave (because proper waterfalls should always have mysterious caves behind them)

BTW..The Brisket was AMAZING!- The Brisket in the Butcher case at the Fresh Market had a nice marbled cut, but they trimmed the fat off for looks. I told he guy I needed about 1/2" fat on top for slow roasting....he knew EXACTLY what I meant, and went in the back and custom cut me 4 Lbs with a lovely layer of fat on it. I cooked it low and slow and when I cut that fat layer off...OMG it tasted like a tender roast completely infused with juice and braised from the bottom with hard cider. I can now NEVER buy another brisket from the grocery store again.I can't believe the difference it made.

Not where I should be

Lucky me......I am a butcher.

Sounds delicious btw. I got to try this sometime.

We had loin of pork, with crackling, and roast topside of beef for our Sunday lunch. I am sure I put on a stone just at lunch.

Model looks brilliant, putting me in mind of maybe lizardmen..... but you could go Kroot/Tau with this!!! Just a thought.

Well GOD BLESS YOU then my friend! -You make civilized society possible for the rest of us!

I use a pan with a rack in the bottom, I pour two bottles of Hard Cider under the rack. Then I etch a diamond pattern everywhere on the membrane (like a ham-sides and fat topside too), then rub my dry blend into the diamond pattern and let it sit on the block while I clean and cut potatoes, onions, carrots, and sweet peppers. Cover with foil and then smell it at 300F for 4 hours..or an hour for every pound.

Then Ladygeek makes an amazing gravy from the cider and drippings
