Got my support weapon boxes (and box of Ashigaru because why not) from the WGF sale. Least cost effective box (why I didn't get them in the KS), but damn the weapons are hot. IG heavy weapon teams (and sabre platforms) so zzz in comparison.

I had the same thoughts on it- they're pricey by comparison to the troops (but then most heavy / special weapons are for most games) but they look great

Did anyone else at GenCon fill out the form at the WGF booth to be contacted when the 15mm Crusader became available? I'd like to order some of them when they are, but can't remember if it was going to be direct through them, or if it was going to be through the Warstore or the like.
I'm assuming direct (and it was to be at a slightly reduced price from retail) but just wondering about that. I haven't heard anything yet, but maybe they won't email the list until after they get the stock in / ship the KS rewards out / etc.

Over 2 weeks since the last info from Mark and almost as long since we heard from him. (He posted about screwdrivers 2 days later). Being a week into the new month now, September delivery is starting to look ...like a maybe. Automatically Appended Next Post: Just found this in the KS comments:
Creator Mark Mondragon on Aug 26
These would likely be people who chose ship when complete or did not have any weapon arms in their wave 2 items... I know the weapon arms are still being cut right now and will be test shot next week. After that they need to be boxed and flown to the US or shipped from China, I would expect that to happen closer to the end of the month.
I will post an update as soon as I hear that the molds are all in T1 test shot.
This means nothing in September. Come back in October.

That can't be right. I mean... the factory has got to cut him some slack, darnit!
See what I did there? I saw a delay, and was informed by communication from the KS creator. It cut down the whole drama thing to, like, zero.

I love you guys.
So, is WGF likely to continue making molds and selling kits for Dreamforge? At this rate, they seem pretty disinterested.
Is Mark still planning to do a Shadokesh KS or a ..uh, Space Russian KS? Or is it clear now that he's not the one holding the whip?

I certainly hope so. Once the full Eisenkern range is released there should be more interest in it. When you can field a full 40K IG army of Eisenkern via command squads, troopers, support weapons, APCs counts as tanks/chimeras, black widows counts-as something, with allied SMs (Valkir) and titans... that'll be pretty compelling!

To be fair to WGF, they have their own stuff to bring out as well, and Dreamforge has a gakload of kits as a result of this KS - especially when you consider each add-on weapon arm is effectively another kit.
How many have already shipped in Wave 1?
Big Levi
Capacitors
Infantry
Heavy Weapons infantry
Accessories/command
Did we get the left-handed gatling? I cant even remember!
Plus things like Ava, the extra sword arm, and the Shadowkesh thingy.
All in all, it's rather a lot of kits in a relatively short space of time...

That's a fact. Although WGF is probably best described as a company within a company, so its probably more precise to say the manufacturer that owns WGF also manufactures Wyrd plastics.
I think part of the issue is that converting existing 3D files to do something new is sometimes (most of the time actually) harder than starting from scratch. I've done 3D modelling including ports of models to new uses and it isn't easy. I can only imagine how hard it must be to engineer something to be injection molded.

I don't think Mark is holding the whip, but that was clear from the beginning, and the price to do business with Wargames Factory.
I think this might be the kernel of truth at the centre of Defiance Games' clear and frank opinion on the matter. After that, mostly shades of gray and personal interpretations, I reckon.
It's true, though, I had forgotten that Malifaux 2.0 was just around the bend (it's been so long since I played). It seems that the bottleneck rests at mould cutting, though? I'm assuming those are pricey machines and the process itself is very time-consuming? Although if they did front credit for Mark to KS all those kits, you'd think WGF would be keen to recoup on its investment (assuming they aren't raking in crazy interests) as soon as possible.

Yeah, the idea that WGF is slow at production due to various issues like just being from the south of Franc....wait, they're the Chinese ones? Huh...weird. If that just isn't shamefully negative of them...
Well anyway, I'm sure Mark is apoplectic with them about these delays because it's his name being dragged down but it doesn't do any good to show that frustration to the customers. It won't make WGF move any faster, and it won't make the backers any happier.
I do wish Mark would put out some sort of formal update though as I'm sure many of his non-forum going backers are wondering the same thing Azazel was. I'm not THRILLED that there's been these delays, but it does allow me some time to cope with other KS that I've backed in the interim coming in so it's something of a wash for me.
For others though, not as much...

Well, the new Malifaux are a good showcase, but they haven't been really taking credit for it. But those 15mm kits are stupendous.

Well, I'm not yet so fethed off with this one that I'd throw all my toys in the garage for 2 years and come back to them later, maybe (see: SW), but I am waiting till I get them all so I can figure out how to paint them, so I've got a lot of plastic sitting about that will be waiting until March? April? July? 2014 - a year later than the updated, extended dates given out post- KS (and yes, at one stage in my life, I actually did expect the dates on KS meant something, so I was originally expecting October/November 2012 and March 2013 for the stuff). So while I'm not throwing this baby out with the bathwater quite yet, I'd have to think long and hard about going in on another DFG KS. This one cost me over $700, and it's a lot of money - especially that far upfront, especially when the stuff gets discounted fairly often when it's finally released at retail... not to mention the expenses I have today that I didn't when this KS was running a year ago...

I know you've said you're reluctant to do this, and as someone who's not really painted any DreadBall models because I want the whole team in so they're all consistent I understand, but see if you can't work your way around to building one of the Leviathans (unless you already have, of course). It really is an amazing kit just to build, and honestly without putting a bit of paint on one I felt like I got my money's worth on that kit just putting it together. For the most part you can do the major assemblies (legs, arms, upper and lower torso) and leave them apart for easy painting. To this day I'm amazed at how big the model is, how movable it is, and how very little glue actually goes into it. Just brilliant design and engineering, and I don't think looking at pictures of it gives a real appreciation for it.
It won't make the waiting any easier, but it does make my mind that little bit happier to know from personal experience that I'm going to open the next boxes and be amazed instead of going "well, I hope this didn't turn out terrible" like some other KS projects I've heard about.

Renders would let us know what has been designed at least and it would give us an idea of the time spent in each part of the pipeline.
For example, 'Here's renders of the command squad, they've just been sent to the manufacturer. It will take estimated x amount of time to layout sprues and injection points etc.'
Currently we don't really know what the hold up is, other than moving the factory, which was probably an unimaginably huge headache for everyone. We could also presume the move allows increases production capacity and less of a gap between wave two and three...

I can only imagine what it can mean for a company like WGF if manufacturing in China is no longer as profitable as it used to be.
Time to stock up on WGF plastics, boys and gals. I suppose it was bound to happen though. My customers keep wondering how come frames premade in China are cheaper than local labour even though the distance is such. I can finally tell them their wish is coming true... though the other way around.

I've honestly got way too much stuff to work on to spend the time working on something that I have no intention to finish anytime soon. Everything I've heard about them says they're amazing kits, and both the pro-painted examples as well as the ones put together and painted by the rest of us show it to be great looking, so the quality issue's not in question, unlike some other KS campaigns. While I think I'm being pretty patient on this one, I'm also pretty annoyed about the delays, since it'd be nice to have it all, sit and ponder, exhale, and then work out what I'm going to do with them all.

My only regret was that I didn't order a set of heavy infantry, a leviathan, and an APC during the kickstarter. For the price those leviathans were in the kickstarter they were a steal, and I'm still kicking myself over missing them.
I also can't wait to see the black widow renders, even though I know they're a long way off

Mark/WGF really needs to let us add more for wave 3 pledge! I'd probably drop another $300 on Valkir and APCs. I'm sure they get a much larger cut than through retail and it's common KS practice. Might want to preserve their retailer relationships though I guess. edit: Mark posted an update on Kickstarter. Those arms are looking great.

I like the weapon designs a lot, but I really prefer them in the 15mm size. For some reason when scaled down they just seem to be smaller compared to the body! I know the ratio is probably the same, but that's the impression I get
Which is why I've pledged for so many 15mm weapons for my wave 3 . I just have to order the 15mm walkers to go with them, as soon as they hit the states this fall!
