Glad I have now got my shipping notice. Now just waiting for the British Grasping service (or Grasping Post Office as they are otherwise known[GPO]) to put a card in saying I owe them money for paying HMRC on my behalf and can they add £8 for the privelige.
Still, I joined my local group of the Miniature Armoured Fighting Vehicle Association last year, and I'm sure they'll be really impressed with my 3 APCs and Black Widows.

Got my notification that they will send it off today. Had some of really everything in this wave.
Bah, couldn't care less, my interest in this bloody KS and the minis has waned long ago. After all these years, it's already 2015!, of cheap excuses...at least something good came out of it: this KS and the CMON Relic Knights KS radically cooled my interest in any KS! Saved me a lot of money!
Will see if I find a place of honour for it in the pile of shame, aka things that I'm never going to paint.
I'm still into 40K, so will use my Toughest Girls instead as IG. Way better, as I also have some SM girls with my Sharks.

The Last Chancer Who Survived
|
Honestly I was only into these models as 40k alt models, and had grad plans of making a mechanized IG army with the APCs and all with some titans for backup. I haven't touched a 40K model in over a year and I think I'm pretty much done with it for the time being, if I go back I'll just stick to my nids.
So I'm hoping to see the Shadowkesh get done and have this become a full fledged game. I think I'd rather play something all new, but like every other new game I want to play, I need 2 different armies of my own if I want to get any friends to play too, till they decide if it's worth buying too.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that my interest in 40k has pretty much fallen off a cliff since 7th edition dropped; I too built around the idea of a mechanized IG force with various odds and ends tossed in. However, they still look like they'll be great models; for me they'll just be great models looking for a game to call home for a goodly while. Maybe as WarPath stand-ins? Though I have a boatload of Enforcers (the obvious analog) so it's doubtful they'll do much of anything at the moment.
It is good to hear that "bit of everything" orders are going out; makes me hopeful that I'll see my own here in the near-ish future (hopefully before I have to travel for work next month).

Yeah, the interesting thing is not so much that the wait killed things, but this line was always a perfect substitute for me for 40k... a game system I no longer have the slightest interest in.
Same here!

According to the book, I'd have assumed mobile infantry to be in much heavy suits with an exo-skeleton and jump jets. Funny.
I'm utterly discouraged by my 90 conscripts that remain to be assembled and painted. So if Ironcore can rescue me from 40K... I'm all for it.
Yes, I think 100 conscripts is a good idea. It's psychological warfare.

Mantic's approach of writing rules to cater to GW burnouts and their massive, extant armies seems to be gaining the most ground from my perspective.
I like Mark. I think he's a good guy and a smart business man. I like his products. But I'd bet it all on "Iron Core is DOA." It will be like the ...uh Warlord?... rule set that Reaper pretends anyone uses with their minis. Automatically Appended Next Post:

Yeah, until they really get rolling on another faction I don't think IronCore will make much headway, but at the same time I don't think that "get IronCore in the wild" is on the immediate agenda for DFG either. Sure, get out SOMETHING for the petty wars between Eisenkern noble houses, but I see that as their public beta of the ruleset and not an actual offering. Until there's an army that actually has very different rules, it's not really going to have traction, and I don't think that anyone involved in the project really thinks it would be any other way.
Now, it's certainly a missed opportunity with GW trying to drive 40k under (I can only assume this is their plan based on performance) and shedding loads of players who are now looking for a game, but I don't think there's any "40k replacement" on the horizon at the moment either. WarPath gets bandied about a great deal, but they're open about the rules potentially being changed significantly, and in ways that might be quite divisive for former 40k players (multi-based units, for example). Won't know until they're released, but until then nothing has really stepped up to fill the void.
It would be nice to hear how the rules are coming though, just to get some sort of gauge of the progress that's been able to make since it's independent of manufacturing. When was the last time it was mentioned? When development was being headed up by someone else? My memory isn't what it used to be...
Anyway, back to hitting "Check Mail" for a shipping notice.

Well, mine left Salt Lake on its way to the UK last night at 7PM their time.
Seems like I'll either have a postcard or a package in my hands by the end of the week.
Just as I was getting into the swing of thinking about working on my Daleks again, I'll now have at least one APC to worry me over as well.

Rules would be pretty trivial to do - just take the publicly-"leaked" not-40k 6E and run it through an editor for cleanup, going back to the 3E-5E concepts of unit vs unit gameplay. Fast and smooth.
If IronCore were an evolution of 40k 5E, it would be akin to Pathfinder addressing the DnD issues.

An alpha rule set was submitted to Mark by Precinct Omega (Robey Jenkins) some time ago, summer or early fall I think. I can only surmise that it is being gone over by Mark in his spare time and maybe they are working on revisions to put something playable out as a beta test at some point.
You can check here to see older posts about it, along with some insights into the game play devised by Robey.

Interesting.
What I'm glad Mark moved away from is the infantry formations. Those were nice in concept, but would have been hell on a tabletop.
With the new concepts, infantry might be a lot closer to the original goal he had in mind. Support, but really as a side show for the big guns.
