Always looking for more bits, and I think it's great to have more weapons and bits to convert models. I don't see what the problem is.

Deathwing terminators get plasma cannons as well though, so its 33% more generous than normal terminator boxes for heavy weapons

I love the new deathwing terminator kit. I have a box of regular terminators and I can combine pieces from both to get some very unique but still DW models on the table. Or Knights.
I also was a big fan of the PA and Terminator Grey Knight plastic kits. I bought one of each and put out a bunch of Deathwatch models for my Black Templars and Crimson Fists to sprinkle into those two armies.

Personally, for my army of Orks, I love the multi-unit kits as you can use the extra bits to convert something later on and/or use magnets to changes parts in then (example would be Burna boys/ Lootas) to change out units.

Multi-unit kits is one of the few things GW is doing right lately. I like to mix and match bits and it gives variety. That being said, it doesn't justify the increase cost to said product.

Pardon me. I was just going off memory.
But this is why i prefer the DA box I have enough for a full tactical term unit or if i get a dark vengeance box i can make a heavy weapon term to swap out for every occasion.

Generic/Ultramarines might not get the same value out of it, but that's why there will still be the other two Terminator boxes on the shelf.
I'll argue with that, lol! I'm filing down all the (main) Dark Angels iconography from a box and using them as Blood Angels!!

you now this way you could put anything on a terminator base and be cool with it . Problem in 6th is that with WYSIWYG a power mace and a thunder hammer are two different things. just like a bolter and a plasma gun are both guns , but have different rules.
*sigh* Before you tqake the first opportunity to bust my chops like I'm daft, re-read the underlined. And you have been talking to Kaldor too much. Counting a mace as a thunder hammer is a bit different than counting a Grot on a 40MM base as a Terminator.

lol just like the GK terminator box only has ONE daemon hammer, despite it being a free upgrade for GK terminators....
bitz stores are your friend....
GW should really just be better at selling weapon bits,
why i cannot buy a 5+ sprue of plasma/meltas/ect is beyond me, I used to be able to by power weapon sprues, necromunda weapon sprues, ect ect now gw just sells boxes and leaves bitz to 3rd parties (which may actually be a good thing, seems cheaper to me.)

Those hammers go for a lot on 3rd party sites. Bitzbarn is the only acceptable price I could find ($2), but they are always out of stock and almost never restock. When they do its only one box worth of bitz. Otherwise the hammers are going to cost you $6 or so each from someone who actually manages their inventory...

Because you have too many bits you don't need and you don't have enough of the stuff you do need. For example, the TH/ SS issue: you need one for every model in the unit, but you only get one. On the other hand you have leftover stuff you don't need no matter what unit you make. So it's the worst of both worlds: you overpay for the one unit you want, and then you have to overpay again to get extra parts to finish arming them properly.
As opposed to not having one of the bits at all. Which is the other "option"
GW will not make 3 separate kits, because that is 3x as expensive to make, 3x as expensive to ship and 3x as expensive to stock (holding stock costs money people) when for a lot of people being a little bit creative gets you round the "issue"
Its like people complaining a devastator box doesnt contain 4 x every weapon. Crazy, shortsighted-ness that doesnt think about the reality of running a retail modelling business at all.
I was going to write the same thing.
Basically if it wasnt 3 kits in one, DA still would have just gotten 1 kit, but instead they only would have gotten 1 set of rules.

Actually, I was talking about Oooold school terminators, when you didn't have multipart models and you had to buy your metal heavy weapon terminators separately. You young whippersnappers don't know how good you got it. Now get off my lawn!

Mace and hammer are both power weapons. How hard is it to cut the head off the mace and replace it with a block to show it's now a hammer? The hammer is only a cube on one side and a wedge on the other.

well I will be damned,
I thought they took those metal special weapons out when tehy took out the other bitz like necromunda, and I could order power axes ect from GW
thanks for the link
but really.... compared to converting back in the pewter days,
building my diverse multipart plastic guardsmen today
vs doing the same 10 pewter ones over and over back in the day...
life is good now.

I am at a loss as to why people actually WANT 5x standard Deathwing with TH/SS. It just doesn't make any sense.
Going for a normal unit? Take one (ok, ok, fine, TWO) TH/SS to get the invulnerable saves then give everyone else shooty weapons and power fists/chainfists. The DW are the only Termie unit that can be that versatile without paying through the nose for it like SW do.
Going for MC hunters? ...take the Knights!!
With that in mind, I think GW have taken the absolute best approach to what you get in the box and can't fault them on it.

Personally, I like the combo kits. Especially for the larger items.
Generally, it's pretty easy to put some magnets on something and allow it to convert from one to the other thereby limiting the numbers of these things I would buy... (crap, don't tell GW that).

This is what I was going to say.
OR
You could do a quick instamould and make new heads out of greenstuff
OR
GW could have included 5 power weapon hafts, 5 mace heads and 5 thunderhammer heads.
(Personally I think the mace heads look ridiculous, and were I planning to play a Deathwing army, I'd cut the tops off and just have the haft anyway...

You could also very easily make uniquely-shaped Thunder Hammer heads out of a short piece of solid plastic rod, glued horizontally in the place of the Power Mace head.
I wish more people still converted things they needed, instead of being mad that there isn't an off-the-shelf option. It's the best way to make a force unique to you, and to be engaged in the modelling side of the hobby for what it is.
