Of course I found the Avengers quite boring and I know I'm in the minority here so.

Agreed on both points, but I'm burnt out on super hero movies in general.

Has it been confirmed whether he'll actually have magic rings or are they going to feth him up?

Well, he is wearing rings in the picture

They've announced that he won't be magic based. He will be a tech based terrorist.

I have no idea at all how to feel about IM3 in general.

I loved IM1, because it was a great damn movie. Hell, my wife loved it and she doesn't even like superhero movies. It was helped a lot by the fact it required little in the way of "acting" from Robert Downey Jr - playing a drunken ass isn't exactly a reach for him.

IM2 was pure butt, though, and not the good kind. The whole thing felt like a commercial to sell toys. Just awful. Even the normally unsinkable Don Cheadle came up short, in my opinion, and I laughed precisely once (1) time, when the ex-wife fizzled.

So, now we have IM3. The trailers make it look good, and Ben Kingsley is normally excellent. I like the embroidery on his pants. So, I guess I'm with the President on this one.

Well the rings weren't really magic anyway, but space dragon technology that was so advanced that they would appear to be magic. Of course he also mastered his chi and was able to go years without eating or drinking while locked in a cell with no hands, which is kind of magical.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I enjoyed the last two.

I hope the casting/treatment of Kingsley/Mandarin translates to the casting/treatment of Ledger/Joker.

Off beat, but fanastic in final product.

Gold embroidery on camo trousers. Don't see that looking too good. Then again, maybe it works when he's in action.

Should have got Jeff Bridges to play him and change his back story to an ex-hippy, in all honesty I have no idea what to expect loved Iron Man 1 but Iron Man 2 was an above average superhero movie, nothing special.

They've kinda done Jeff Bridges already though...

I guess it shows a lack of long term planning!

I think he is still War Machine, just with a paint job since they will never actually be able to use Iron Patriot, being that Norman is Sony property, film wise.

What with the Glasses and Beard he kind of reminds me of the Dictator from the Sacha Baron Cohen film.

Even so, that makes more sense than calling him War Machine to the press. That is a bit of an antagonistic title after all, and as I said, Marvel ain't getting Norman Osborne any time soon, if ever, so it makes sense to use the name.

Did you attend a sneak preview? Comic-con sneak peek? I have seen all the commercials/trailers and I have not seen that.

I thought Iron Man 2 was great. We got Tony being Tony, we got a better (IMO) Rhodes, we got War Machine, we had a great fight with Black Widow (and a comparison point for short-haired BW in Avengers vs long-haired BW in IM2; verdict - long-hair all the way), we got a bit more Nick Fury, and a really really cool ending fight. It was better than Captain America...

I'm stoked for IM3, and even more for Cap 2. Thor 2... dunno. Guardians? Unknown property. Ant-Man? Dull character... but if Janet's in it, then I'll watch.

Jim "Rhodey" Rhodes has been and will always be War Machine. Even when he became half cyborg, he was still War Machine. He is not Iron Patriot. I understand Marvel isn't using N.O. anytime soon, but there is no reason to switch a well known character into somebody seen for a year's worth of comics, when a switch is 100% unnecessary. Marvel get's a big for this one...

The Mandarin never had magic rings to begin with... they're advanced alien technology; there is no mysticism involved.

It looks fine to me, they've been mixing things up for the films and so far its worked. Hell if you could handle the combo of Red Dynamo and Whiplash, this is pretty minor imo.

My bigger worry at the moment is this.. not sure who could replace him if I'm honest.

Iron Man 1 was a very by-the-numbers, average movie also...it's just that no one noticed because Bob Downey charmed their socks off. Iron Man 2 was kind of a mess, but again wasn't recognized as such based on the strength of its cast. There are reasons why "stars" exist...

Yeah, Downey Jr. isn't Edward Norton. He's far more integral to the role in people's mind. I'm hoping he signs up for more Avengers as I though he was under contract for 3 Iron Man and 3 Avenger films but I could be wrong.

Oh well, looking forward to Iron Man 3. I get a free pass to make the wife watch the Iron Man's and Avengers just because of Robert Downey Jr.

Thats the only reason I've watched the Iron Man movies. I like him better as Sherlock Holmes actually.
