It's in the WD pictures, rather than the new releases, that I think most people are referring to/concerned about.

We also havn't seen or heard mention of the sky ray or sniper teams yet, so hopefully kroot and vespid are still there... (even though unless they're changed in some way noone is going to use them except for if they really like the models)

Is it me, or does the text sound sub-par? Mind you I haven't read a WD in a few...years now. But sentences like: "Much enjoyment can be had finding different ways to combine all the pieces." sounds more Engrish than English.

I know the words are all ok, but it just sounds very stilted... a bit unnatural.

Neko, who had posted rules leaks over on Warseer and ATT, claims that Kroot and Vespid are still there.

Even GW would'nt go out of their to ruin/obsolete peoples armies and force them to buy the "hot-new", thats just silly... no wait.

I would at least like to have some blind faith the kroot will get expanded/boosted, even if its part of an ally dex instead of the tau dex. I would assume even GW must of noticed the lack of kroot in tau armies lately.

I never had a whole lot of luck with Kroot. I wouldnt be too upset if they are gone, however, i do like the models and would like to see them get some armor and see them exclusively Tau(besides taking allies of course). They are our damn mercs. Not to mention the other armies are going to have to dip into our territory to get a hold of em. An ally dex doesnt make enough sense to me.

I actually like a lot of the new models, as to how it plays will be a different story.

And Im happy with the frequency of the books, just not the constant price tag, happy Sam-duh?

Thinking in Kroot:

Back in tha day, while the Tau had their Kroot Carnivoires in troops, there was a seperate Kroot Mercenaries Codex with WD and Chapter Approved. The Kroot Mercs mostly couldn't be taken as part of a Tau army (the Kroot were trying not to let their ally know just how much biodiversity they were sampling) but there was an option of adding a limited detachment of mercenary Kroot to several other armies, much like the way the ally system works.

I expect we will see more of the same now, a basic Kroot unit in the Tau Codex, plus a full fledged list of units in the Ally codex. I am thinking well see things like Gretchin, Harliquins and Renegade Imperial Guard/Gue'vesa in the Ally book as well. I've seen speculation that Sisters of Battle, the Assassins, the Legion of the Damned and others might be there too.

No, that would be two weeks, GW only does a week.

I also would not be sad to see the Kroot leave the Tau codex. GW made a big deal in past fluff about the Tau taking many different kinds of allies, yet they gave us only two sub-par ally units in the codex. It's like they said in WD when the first Tau book came out, they had a few great ideas for new races but couldn't decide which one to introduce into the game. So they just combined them together into one army book. Im glad to see that maybe this book will be solely about the Tau and that they may flesh the Kroot/Vespid out more in another supplement.

Combining the allies into one big bucket worked great for warmahordes.

I really like kroot and want them to stay in the tau book, however, in the general sense I like the idea of an allies codex.

Fact is, the galaxy is big and it has a TON of aliens that don't have enough population to count as empires on their own, but still exist and still could be allies or mercenaries.

Even if a race only has 1000 living individuals in fluff, you can still justify them on the table by saying they just all showed up for this one fight.

I'd actually play squats, if they updated the miniatures. Or just the rules... and use Mantic.

Random one off allies are the sort of thing that actually belonged in white dwarf, but they stopped doing things like that.

If the release is April 6, then the pre-order will go up March 29. The crappy video should then be up by March 26, I think.

I love that "crappy video" is just part of the accepted timeline at this point.

These pictures leaked pretty damn early, compared to the last few times. Usually only a couple of days before the teaser, IIRC.
