I really like how you did your metallics without making them clumpy or chunky looking. I think you did a good job with your weathering too, and didn't go overboard with the effect.

The only piece of constructive criticism I have is to trim the mould lines off the back of your weapon arms. I know it can be a pain in the butt, especially on areas with lots of topographic irregularity, but it's worth it in the end.

Still, great pieces!

That was my main goal before i even painted my first GK - I wanted something somewhat similiar to the GW scheme but make it less boring. Many thanks!!

Thanks, glad you like them. I wanted the blue to be totally blended in and seamless, this turned out to be not so easy.

But now i think i have started to perfect the recipe

I painted the model silver.

Then I made a very thin mix of blue ink and silver around 50/50. This mix is airbrushed very carefully onto the areas that i want to have a blue tint. I stress carefully because if you go too heavy on it you'll end up with just a blue-silver model and that would ruin the contrast.

then from there the brush work starts, glazing the recesses with blue ink, black ink, asmuren blue, badab black for shadows and then bright metallics to hit some highlights, mithril silver is nice for this.

I also like to do "metal glazes" ill call them. basically a bunch of asmuren blue with some metallic mixed into it, you can use this to smooth out transitions, and lightly go over your airbrushed blue areas to smooth them out even more. but you need to go very light on this or you will mess up the airbrushed layer which puts you back at square one again. Use it as a glaze, not a wash.

hope this helps.

And a grandmaster. This guy is nearly as wide as two dreadnoughts sword tip to sword tip.

Originally i wanted to sculpt him a cape but in the end im glad i didnt because he took awhile to finish as is.

On a side note and this is no criticism of you, though those dreadnoughts are awful models!
