Yep, I've seen those and they are on my X-Wing shopping list. Wondering about other 6x4 ones that might be available out there. Thanks for mentioning them though.

I've picked up quite a few Britishisms myself from Dakka.

The G&G brushes has already been mostly fulfilled, so no issues on that side.

The benefit of having this sort of generic board is that you can use existing terrain with them without any issues. Take for example the current Dwarven Forge gear, all those corridors and walls etc. You could easily grab one of G&G's standard table sized boards in cobble or similar, and use it as a base for your gaming.

Say you already have some basic hills or trees, you can use them with the G&G's stuff.

On top of that, they will be producing their own parts eventually. Their first KS was really just for the boards and they said all along that it was to launch a complete line of product. They didn't want to over commit and make the project too huge by including all the various hills, half'n'half boards etc right at the start.

The idea was to invest into a system that would be expanded on over the coming year.

It didn't pan out first time around mostly because they had too confusing pledge structure, little to no stretch goal incentives etc. The product itself was great. I really think a second go with a better campaign could even capitalize on the Dwarven Forge success if they market it correctly.

yeah,
I'm interested in both products.

SW boards look very detailed and G&G look more basic.
I think G&G boards are more ideal for converting your own tiles.

G&G's flat boards with engraved detail allows easier positioning of terrain.
SW's bumpy details will cause a few issues with placing minis and the bumps will get in the way of placing flat bottomed terrain.

Panic...

I agree... I really like how the brush kickstarter was structured. It was very clear, and they used the system to make sure that they couldn't over-promise on what they could deliver. I think we'll see a lot more that are tightly structured like that one.

2*2 generic. I am in for that.

SW unlocks a generic tile @ $200k. I am therefore no supporting that KS. I think that is a big error on their part - seriously, how much effort does it take to produce a flat generic tile I can use how I want to and with whatever histotical period I want.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

You have a point, but given how well their Kickstarter is doing, compared to the lack of enthusiasm over G&G's first time around, and it is hard to see SW's current structure as having many errors.

They probably felt that they needed to offer up something that represented a competitive advantage, especially if they felt that G&G would be coming back with a KS 'soon'.

Tastes differ. I wouldn't buy the ROB for half the official price, Extremely unmodular with the big hill and lack of even parts, hill slopes too slippery.

Seconded here. That hill slope- ugh! Models always slide down it...
Oh thank goodness. When I mentioned that to someone in a store they looked at me like I had a third eye and said "We have never had that problem."

I'm going to try gluing sand to the damn hills, but I don't expect it to help much.

No worries. I have no idea about the shipping to Oz but bannersonthecheap (http://www.bannersonthecheap.com) has some pretty good deals and the quality is decent according to a youtube video linked in the thread below. You can't select 6x4 as a standard starting size but it is available after you upload your background starmap pic as an option ($28 USD for a 6x4 star map when I priced it out). I ended up getting my map as a gift from a different source but they were going to get my money prior to that.

As for the games/gears stuff, I'm not really a fan of 1" tiles... While I see why people would like them, that's 4x as many joints that can break compared with 2x2. That horridly conceited game company that made Ex Illis did make a nice and cheap board when they weren't actively lying and trolling the gaming public though. It wasn't 4x6 but it was $100 iirc and it came with a bunch of figs.

Sand helps, but isn't perfect. Add a bit of static grass to the board and the issue is solved.

Just to clarify a few points. Sorry we have been super busy on our end.

- We have reached 200 "Hell Yes" (Currently 400) which means our 6 by 4 is now 100USD & 4 by 4 60.00USD

-Our battle boards are now 2 by 2

-Height same as the ROB.

-The new boards will have 16 unique textures across a 4 by 4 and can expand. That sync together

-We are doing a Sci Fi Urban War battle boards which is scaled for 28mm with Hawk Wargames (City Scape Battle Boards). But can also be used to 10mm (28mm terrian is not true scale). You can fit a Predator tank on the road with road space on either side

-We are doing a Hellscape Battle Board with Cipher Studios (Helldorado & Anima Tactics). Daemon Worlds, Chaos wastes...

-We have another press release to make soon.

We really do not want to detract from the current KS discussion here. But if you are interested and want to ask some questions, check our some prelim pictures please go to https://www.facebook.com/GamesNGears

we also have a poll so please join in

Just to re-state: 16 unique textures in sync per battle board (4 by 4 or 6 by6). All Games & Gears battle boards are 2 by 2. (Hope that clarifies it all)

@GamesNGears: Okay, the news of a Hell Dorado board is freaking exciting to me. How will the size of the boards reconcile with the fact that the HD boards are supposed to be 30 inches by 30 inches?

A 4x4 board is $60 whereas a 6x4 board is $100?

Are those prices correct?

If each piece is 2x2, the 4x4 set comes with 4 boards for $15 each. The 6x4 set comes with 6 boards for $17 each.

Why would I ever get the 6x4?

The prices are correct. There is a a slight jump in shipping price when shipping a 6 by 4 compared to a 4 by 4. If you want to get x 2 4 by 4s awesome.

regarding Helldorado, we have already sorted that . We hope to give you an awesome surprise. What we can say is that we will be bringing your the depths of hell via the Hellscape battle boards.
Another Press Release to be announced in the next few days.

^ That board would be amazing for Mordheim.

And 4x4 board for $60? Hell yes.

At that kind of price it's a casual purchase, and not some massive investment.

This is definitely more my kinda thing than the secret weapon boards.

Definitely needs better presentation the second time around though, I really think that's what killed it the first time, if it doesn't look professional people won't back, no matter how good the product is.

Well, I think I can safely say that I'm in (tentatively). If Cipher is working with you on it, I'm sure the whole thing will be perfectly suited.

Will you also be offering terrain to go with the boards, as add-ons, etc?

Am I being blind or is there no confirmations of a simple generic sand/ grass type board for those of us that place historicals + sci-fi.

If there is, I will purchase a 4x8 in a heart beat.

I would really like to see an addon to make display boards. Some sort of lipped edge that snaps on... may be an excellent addon for kickstarter.

Once again, I was really impressed by your brush kickstarter... keep it up!

At those prices, if they launch soon, they will be a serious competitor with Secret Weapon's offerings.

Especially with the apparent 'compatibility' with GW/FW's boards?
