1. Go with Leather furniture, it will last longer and ultimately be more kid-proof than fabric, pay for the extended warranty, this is one of the few times where this Capatalist Practice will actually benefit you (if there are no electronics involved).

2. The vehicles don't have to necessarily be servitor vehicles, they can just be industrial in nature, the Deuce and a half idea is seriously where this should go! It looks too much like one already..and is completely awesome so far! Those two winch panels are screaming to be a side-accessed toolbox, think of a tree-trimming, railroad maintenance, or municipal power truck (with or without the cherry-picker bucket boom)

I really dislike leather furniture. Something about the feel, I think we're going withe the second set we both like. Not as good of quality, but will be able to do a love seat for our bedroom, couch, two chairs and ottoman for family room for the same prices as just doing the couch in familyroom.

Hopefully it'll last ten years and the kids will be out of the house. Will definitely do the extended warranty though.

Oldest might have pinkeye, so I'm with her at the clinic with her now. Might have company tomorrow, one good thing about being unemployed is I won't have to listen to a boss about missing work. One of them had the nerve to complain about my kids getting sick, and how he hasn't missed a day of work because of being sick. My response was less than cordial. "Just because you come to work sick as heck, coughing all over, and spreading the flu to at least eight employees last month, doesn't give us a reason to emulate you. Unlike you I wash my hands in the bathroom after coming out of a stall. My three kids go to grade school, my wife teaches and I work retail, we are around people and get sick, deal with it!" He never gave me problem after that, and started to wash his hands.

As for the truck, definitely a repair vehicle for the imperium. I have some mock ups at home, if I'm home with Sarah while the wife goes to church I'll get some picks up.

We got Bonded Leather, a lot like a Bible cover from Sofa Mart. I didn't think I'd like leather either, but this stuff is very nice. Puppy claws don't even dent it.

As for bosses like that, they are pathetic human beings, no compassion.

Basic truck layout, need advice.

Tools up front

Door up front

And front view minus the robotic arms

Oh and for those who laughed at the tiny clamps.....

Bridge is looking awesome, and fantastic attention to detail. I can think of loads of cinematic ways the hinge mechanism would come in useful ingame too! One or two catapulted gangers by the end of a brawl, I'm sure

Truck is looking interesting, can't wait to see where you take it. Great use of the ?Stormtalon parts. I'd personally stick the hinged door at the back - makes more sense for loading it. Wouldn't be able to get stuff of reasonable length into the side door!

i second the objections against leather couches... we have a fabrics one and i have sitten on leather ones...in summer this feels wrong...and in winter even worse...personal taste however...so i wont do any judging here^^...

your ex-boss was a jerk... and these need a good see to... but you can´t really teach them...although...getting him to wash his hands can be counted as a major success!

as for the truck...atm...i can hardly tell heads from tail.,..so...i have to sit this one outr a bit more to be able to actually have something to contribute...but tools at the front sounds wrong... better in the back...and i am a bit unsure about the robotic arms...but don´t let that fret you...

oh... how many kids do you have again? and how old are they? my sons are almost five and seven years old...
and your oldest has "pinkeye"? is that this infection of the eye? and it spreads when touched by lil kids? it´s kinda epedimec in kindergartens all over the world...

Vik you'd be a great doctor, you figured it out. My daughter got it from another kid,Sarah my oldest is ten. Zachary and Lillian are twins and are eight years old.

Door up front would be the access to the driver compartment. Most storage will be on the top or back. I think the tools up front will probably work best.

I can't wait to see where this goes either to be honest. I have a crane boom I made a long time back, it's in one of the pics. Might be able to make a cherry basket for it.

@scarper, there actually storm raven parts, with the axels being sentinel parts and wheels from marine bikes.

How's 'bout something like this

Made in gb
Mastering Non-Metallic Metal

Depending on how big you are intending to make the cab (and how many crew will be using it) that door might be a bit large for just a simple access hatch. If this truck is just meant for "normal" humans to drive and that's a hatch for big and bulky space marines (correct me if I'm wrong, my part spotting usually is).

Looking at the front of that cab it gave me an idea for an alternative. You could hinge the windscreen up and add small, pull out/fold away steps (Like you might see on an A-10 for example, my model A-10 has one anyway). But that does depend on what else you have planned in the cab and that would only really work for the driver.

As for the tools. I would say towards the front if that is where the crew are likely to be working...then again, thinking of examples, a fire-engine (fire-truck for you over there) tends to have all the doors at the front and all the tools at the back... That probably makes more sense if things are going to be worked on towards the rear of the truck, I say rear then.

The M26 is the style I was thinking, with the toolbox just behind the cab, the rear drive wheels do the pulling and/or carrying of heavy equipment.

It also lends itself perfectly to 40k style of vehicles with those angles on the body - add some rivets and a heavy bolter (or five)and it's job done...

@ruglug, that adept us vehicle was actually what I was looking at when the inspiration finally hit. Ruglug where is that other vehicle from, the shiny one, reminds me of a toy I had as a child.

Definitely thinking tools up front as having them at the back might lead to them being misappropriated by some locals. If they are up front then they are less likely to walk away.

@dr. H, the cab is small. It's the turret from the storm raven kit. There's no place for a full person, just a half servitor. The screens will be painted black. The width of the truck is only as wide as the rhino top hatch. Not really meant for troop carrying, just tool moving.

@dave, m26 looks very promising for what I'm after. Thanks for that, looked at more source photos. Couches will be here Tuesday. A grand less than what we were going to get, decided only to do family room now.

Not getting much chance to work on stuff today. Watching little house on the prairie with the family, it's so mu h fun to torture the kids, they lost tv choices for the day while at the store buying furniture.

That's the one. But I'm thinking of a toy from the late 1970-1980s. It was about 1' long and 8" wide. It had a keypad on the top and you could type in the arrow for direction, how far, a turn direction, and how far. The tank would drive that far turn and go again. My brother and I spent hours at a time playing with it. Ran the batteries deAd and would drive my parents crazy asking for more batteries. It had an attachment for a tray and cup holder so the kids could send the TV dinners to their parents in the other room.

That was a good Christmas. A new neighbor moved in and he collected gijoes as well. He had that model and that spring his dad built us a 8'x12' sandbox that was3' deep. We built the biggest sand forts we could, then worked out battles using bottle rockets and m4s. So much destroyed plastic, and burns.....the burns.....

Ahh, but the memory burns are the best!

We had a big garden, which was mostly sand, we dug rivers, then filled them with the garden hose, and a couple of days later the weeds grew along our "rivers" and we had jungle terrain.
Many MIA joes and weapons are probably still buried there today!

Here I was thinking about making a functional avengers helicarrier with it and a couple of these

Although I should stick to only 30 projects at once and try to remain in a budget.

Truck with cab on the front.

Toolboxes right behind cab

The other part of the stormraven on top will disappear. I'm going to make the truck more boxy.

Also not going to do the manipulator arms on the front o the truck. Might use the arms, one off each side, as stabilizers for when the crane or bucket are in the air.

Right now the wheels are magnetized on, so the front set can turn 360*, the rear two are glued to each other, but the component is separate from the body. Probably make the back if the truck a picket bed like on logging trucks. That way this beast can haul conduits, pipes, I beams ir anything long.

Little work this morning before kids get up.

Built the tool chest and cab section. Cab is just tacked on for photos.

Found two of these bits, think they'll look good as exhaust ports? Possible placement.

And here's the cab, tool chest, and exhaust in place. Front tire assembly is backwards, but magnetized for easy painting and adjustments.

Let me know what you think.

Possible ideas.
Putting the sentinel legs behind the tool compartment, each facing outwards so they can come down like stabilizers.
Not sure how to mount the crane, so it might just become a flat bed, or if I find the right tube/ bottle, a tanker. Maybe the drive to my kids school will give me ideas.

Got the wife to approve a small purchase for me, so I'll be stopping by hobby lobby today for a airbrush hose, hopefully a regulator as well, and thinner. Don't know what else I'll need, so if you think of anything o ahead and post. I'll check on my phone while waiting with the kids.

No way to move the cab back without making this about a half inch taller. I think I'll be able to put a ram or at least a bumper under the front of the cab, it might help it look a little less like the driver is hanging out there.

Depending on what that box (that the tools are connected to) is for you could attach the crane to the top of that. Couple of semi-circles, a rod as a pivot, a piston or two (lots of rivets obviously) and Robert is your mother's brother.

Yeah the front wheels could do with being a bit further forward.

If you don't do the crane, you'll need a winch on the bed to drag things up into the back (like those small flat-bed car transporters).
