Mmmm, like the companion piece, you should finish that and magnetise it....

I do like where you were going with the fish-steed too, very cool idea.

And where's the serpent head on the skavesnake from?

RIght so Lothar has had loads of work done, I didn't notice from the original pic. He is really great, such an improvement on the stock model. Vilitch just has too many bits sticking out all over, but you've pared him down to a classic chaos warrior. The drooping shoulder and heavy mace work great, as do the low angled wings - he seems relaxed but solid, imposing. And his cyclopean helmet looks alert, like he is just staring. Quite evocative of Magnus the Red as well, with the eye and the wings. Yeah, easily my favourite of the bunch, just great.

And Peter, equally amazing. My excitement is tempered only by your inability to share this work by the usual means :p

On the Eternal Champion Neil it's not a book but a series of interconnected books about 70 in all the Hawkmoon books are key to his influence on Chaos and the Imperium

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Well since you insist, I've been in a real burrow of activity on the modelling desk thanks to you. I may of posted some of it too.

The idea of PDH-style Slaaneshii Cultists pleases me greatly! I haven't seen that many decent conversions of those so I look forward to them (and everything else of course.)

Mister Feral - The Slaaneshii cultists are not going to be PDF style (or did you mean PDH style?). They are actually going to be much more like your Tzeentchian lot - as in from a chaotic area.

I put PDF didn't I? I'm a simpleton, I meant PDH as in you made them so they are your style.

Cue one much-deserved slidy-face facepalm.

*EDIT* Since I'm here I might as well enquire what sort of look you are going for on the Cultists? Overly flamboyant or more a subtle approach (pastel colours and all that.)

@ Mr feral , apologies for not answering your question earlier mate, for some reason I couldn't edit my original post .

The legs on the tzaangors are blood letters as you guessed, the bodies are lotr goblins, and one arm , the one with rock is from the ghoul kits ? I think, the bird head is from the empire general griffin familiar.

BTW I have called him PDF and phd on more than one occasion :-P

@ lamahead, I knew their were a few books but had no idea there were so many, I read they were in trilogies , it was one of the first books called the eternal champion I was going to pick
Up ,although I had read it wasn't the best tbh , but I won't be reading all 70 anytime soon though , thanks for the info on the hawkmoon stuff I will bear it in mind if I decide to pick up a book or two, cheers,

@ Migs - Cheers
@ Bruticus Thanks bud , I just need to sort out his extra thumb on his mace hand might give him a loose gauntlet or just leave it as a tzeentchian gift
@ monkey the snakehead guy is the dark eldar slyth, really cool model IMO.

@ pdh rum makes everything taste better ..;-)

Willken Gortfreid cowardly Champion of Nurglitch a top Blightsting - the ant faced, shotgun tentacled, winged, giant beast of Nurgle.

This was fun and time consuming, wings are tacked on at the moment as I imagine they will get in the way for painting.

...now does anyone have any suggestions as to how I paint this colour of slug?

He is immense ! that is perfect example of a beast of nurgle mate - just bigger and nastier... the champions shield and throne are great ideas , i have no idea what bits you have used which is a treat , the ant face is cool great use of the horns as antenna, no idea how you might capture the slug colour though , looks like you will need a dark brown base that blends with a karki sand colour upto a light grey and an orange dry brush on top maybe experiment a mottle effect.

he is going to take quite a bit of paint i imagine,

btw what is the base model for your champion ?

just superb work mate , i really cant wait to see the warbands together duelling it out in the chaos wastes!

Neil mate I cannot wait until we all duel it out too. Do we know how Tears of Istvaan is getting on with his warband?

I think Gottfried is going to be a lot of effort to paint and use a lot of paint. JB, El-D and Krauty have all given some good advice about the paint scheme. Now I just need to hear from JRN and I should be able to get cracking...on the crossbow men and pestitaur.

The Champion hiding behind his shield is: Chaos Knight legs and shoulder pads, FW Death Guard torso, Plague Bearer arms, flag head, A horn, shield is a icon from the chaos alter I think. More angles when he is painted at the moment there is still a nice aura of decay....sorry I meant surprise.

My favourite bit is the wooden spikes jutting out of the beast.

Wow, gruesome gribbliness all present and correct sir!

I want to see it painted just to see some more angles on it

For that slug-look you'd really want a grey base with browns and orange over the top, although not sure how well that would work with the texture of the beast as opposed to the slug texture....

So no real help there then

A wonderful centrepiece there PDH, love how you've incorporated a Rot Fly into the Beast of Nurgle.

I look forward to seeing it painted, mainly because in it's current state it isn't the easiest to make out all the details you've added.

The slug looks like a terracotta base highlighted up to a strange yellow-orange & flesh mix to me. The shading appears to me to be a rather ruddy brown.

Neil, I adore rum too! Give me black or dark rum anyday!

Thanks for the bitz rundown as well, it all makes sense now in my head.

The nurgle champions steed is just vile, which is great.

Its all so so good ;;

You guys are doing a great job, everything is so evocative of chaos, the pestigors and tzangors are sublime.

The champions though. They are beautiful. The tzzentch warrior is so imposing and natural, and that beast is insanely cool

You guys have really inspired me back into a hobbying kick now to convince my friends that realm of chaos is a good idea xD

Wow! I am trying to convert a WoC force dedicated to Nurgle as well, and this has really inspired me to get back to work. I also think I need to get a set of Plague Bearers and get to work with Green Stuff as you have with the Pestigors.

Tremendously creative (and sometimes disgusting) work!

I think I would actually be frightened to face some of these models on the tabletop!

Lovely painting as per usual, even though they are filthy mercenaries.

If you are considering adding something extra to the faces, a subtle glaze of the wonderfully garish orange used for the buboes would work around the eye-stitches and in the recesses of the heads, I reckon.

monkeytroll, Darth Bob - Cheers boys. Its really simple bit of Ork Hibe Shade, less of each of these Hawk Terquioise, Ice Blue and White. Then bung in a shed load of water and then let it flow into the cracks.

pantheralegionnaire - Cheers. Still a lot of credit has to be given to Foot of Tape.

JimmyGrill - Probably going to leave the faces for the time being. Got started on the Minotaur this evening and that is much more fun. Thanks about the beastie.

Mister Feral - I'm thinking they are too clean. I'd be worried that the orange would be a little too much but I suppose a glaze wouldn't hurt. Sod it going to give it a whirl.

If you think an orange glaze would be too strong (which is fair enough), perhaps mix in some of the shade colour with the orange to make it subtler?
