I would really, honestly, like some explication of how Battlefleet Gothic and Epic are rooted in 'real world' examples, and how Necromunda 'is Steampunk'. You even specified 'Generic Steampunk', which is Victorian-era aesthetics with flying dirigibles.

I've seen other posters rip into your arguments in other threads worse than this (and done my share) and THIS thread is what upsets you?!

What context? Everything you said is wrong...

If Mordheim doesn't have anything unique to GW IP, then neither does WHFB since they share the exact same background.
Blood Bowl IP is completely different from Mantic's Dreadball IP... You could just as easily have said that Subuteo imitated Blood Bowl.
Imperial Guard has nothing to do with modern armies, they are remotely inspired by WWI era armies but that is it.

You thinking that Necromunda has anything remotely to do with Steampunk has already been addressed by other posters...

There was no trolling on my part, I may have shared a joke with another community member but that was not trolling. All I did was ask you how you got steampunk from Necromunda. In fact I was asking you to expand what you said.

If the things you listed 'do not count' as GW IP, then what is GW IP? Is the OP stating that GW has no IP?

I am unsure that they're going to lock a thread just because you made completely illogical statements and people are calling you out on it. They might, though, since there's little else to say; you said something silly, and people pointed out that you're being silly and I guess there's nowhere to go from here.

You could, however, answer sourclams' legitimate question.

However, to address the OP, I would think the real reason that GW is doing away with Specialist games is some combination of the following:
1.) They don't sell well enough to justify continuing to produce them and they've decided they don't want to invest in promoting them to make them more popular.
-1a). This could be because they don't think it's worth the investment regardless of other financial factors.
-1b). This could be because they're attempting to cut expenses, either because they're not making enough money (or losing money), or because they want to make it look like they're making a lot more money.
2.) It's part of phasing out metal, and they've decided it's not worth investing in new resin molds for all their fringe products.

It certainly has absolutely nothing at all to do with the "IP" of these products being indefensible, as they're based on the 40K and WHFB IPs.

You've openly admitted previously to deliberately being facetious/playing devil's advocate with posters who have been p'ed off by some of GW's actions in the past, in order to get a rise out of them.

If you can't take it mate then don't dish it out, people might be a bit less inclined to jump on you at the first opportunity

No one here is showing any 'rage'. But nice deflection - playing the victim card because people called you on your words.

I spend 10 hours a day in a factory doing hard labour, during which I am frequently called things that would probably break the swear filter on dakka I don't need "thick skin" but I think dakka should hold itself up to a standard of social decorum above and beyond what some posters have displayed in this thread. Rule 1 guys. Hell, I could get insulted and flame and troll that you just called a six foot tall sixteen stone man "sunshine", despite that I can probably bench what you weigh. But I don't, because of...manners!

Or at least, try to address the issue rather than picking apart what the OP said because you don't like his opinions on other things. I see dozens of threads every day that I read and think "wow that guy was smoking crack", do I post in the thread, picking apart what they have said and demeaning them? No, I click "back" and view another thread.

People have addressed it. You on the other hand are now playing victim and running off to the alert mod button because you got called out. Try to take the moral high ground all you like.

I don't see the point in responding to legitimate posters if there are trolls left right and centre. I haven't been "called out" on anything, I asked a question, I didn't state anything that *could* have been called out.

I asked a question, and instead of engaging in debate, you (and other posters) flamed/trolled. But you apparently have carte blanche in Dakka sub-forum so it's to be expected I suppose.

I honestly would like to hear you address Sourclams' post.
If the things you listed 'do not count' as GW IP, then what is GW IP?

Is a perfectly legitimate topic for discussion. RE: Mordheim: You're claiming that the Chaos-based Warbands, Skaven, Warpstone, etc., aren't unique to GW at all? Epic and BFG, despite being firmly, firmly rooted in the 40K universe, aren't defensible?

Actually my first post - the second in this thread - was asking for clarification, clarification you've yet to provide.

It's a simple case of put up or shut up. Sourclams asked you several things - drop the victim/woe is me/you're all trolls act and try responding to him. Obfuscation won't help you here Bryll. None of us are dim enough to fall for it.

And learn what trolling means for God’s sake...

Don't get cocky kid, there's always a bigger fish.

TBH, I don't have a dog in this particular fight, but it does seem you have overreacted a tad, especially as you do normally seem to expose yourself to, and deal relatively well with, criticism on a regular basis.

Oh, and 'hard labour' is something Victorian convicts did, while I'm sure you work hard, not necessarily the best phrasing. Unless you are posting from prison?

Wow, dakka. Wow.

There was no rage that I saw. I was unclear as to what you meant and gave examples of the differences, a perfectly calm and rational action. Had you said that you were mistaken and meant "futuristic", or grimdark, and then moved on then many of the resulting posts could have been avoided.

Ok, this has devolved, since the OP has requested a lock, here it is.

As a third party, each 'side' here is kind of correct, and everyone could have handled this discussion a bit better.
