I agree with the price complaints.

They look nice, I'm aware of their pedigree, but it quickly exits the limits of what small amount of cash I have left to spend.

I wouldn't mind getting a box of troops or a handful of heroines, but I'm really getting tapped on these massive money sinks of miniatures.

The other downside for me is there's no game attached.

I'm more of a boardgamer than a wargamer, so these don't hold as much value for me, but I can see where this would be a boon for others.

I'm going to keep checking up on this one in the hopes that they can figure something out with shipping. Maybe I can talk someone into splitting shipping with me so we can both get a few pieces.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Then thats bad presentation, I understand that weight doesn't matter for most shipping, either these are hilariously, needlessly big, the art book is massive, or you're getting soaked, as shipping is a (high) flat rate no matter what pledge, i'm guessing you're getting soaked, getting 1 mini costs the same shipping as the 995 "wtf hilarity" 100+ models package? comon dude.

It doesn't look like the KS needs me to pledge to meet goals, but with those shipping rates it doesn't make sense unless you want the art book and KS perks (I dont) or are spending so much that you dont care I'll just wait for them to be publically available and pay the 7 bucks for shipping like everything else.

So far they've unlocked an additional 2 Troop boxes, 3 heavy weapons, and 6 heroes. That includes the first three stretch goals. Doesn't seem like enough stuff unlocked for the additional 143k seeing as the 3 heroes were only about 4k each.

Still looking like this is going to be a good one

15$ for 5 individually posed miniatures is awful? Really?

Yes, really. I'd be willing to pay that for supplementary troops, but without an affordable backbone I'm not going to start an army from scratch. If they unlock the injected plastics at a decent price, I'll buy those. Only then will I be in the market for anything else.

GW nowadays wants 35$ for 5 Dire Avengers!

GW can go to hell.

I'm pretty sure they weren't expecting to pledge up so quickly and will be updating the page later today

You can go on the USPS web site and calculate international shipping to France... in a medium flat rate box, they are quoting me $60. International shipping is expensive, and i'm sure they are still subsidizing it to some extent.

Whats the difference between spin cast plastics and injection plastics? I dont mean the methods but the attributes between each plastic.

Also $23 for shipping is fine. Most KS international backers pay more and US backers don't pay anything, at least EVERYONE is paying for P&P.

I'm going to have to mix and match. I love the Techpriest and 42, but the Jailbird nurse is too damn cool. She's very Borderlands-esque. As for troops, I'm likely going Kuragnova to go with my Valhallans.

I'm alright with the value. I'm in at the $150. As long as I can pick add-ons to that total I'll be staying there. There isn't much of a value break at the $350 level and I like picking and choosing more than than the $10 it saves me.

Well, there is a middle ground between expecting "a cannonball to ship to Australia for free shipping" and "A single $10 figurine having $23 shipping". I don't have any real beef with my, fairly large, order to be at that price point of shipping, but if I only wanted a single mini, or a few minis, there is no real reason to participate at all vs just waiting for them to be available at retail.

That being said, they're not really making money off the shipping at any level - they're including tracking and insurance, which you don't get at first class postal levels. Adding on registered mail to first class mail makes it $26 to France for a 6oz package.

I'd be alright with 10-15 shipping for a half dozen plastic figures.

I've gotten some heavy ass comics shipped from France for nowhere near 23 dollars, and if you're familiar with French albums, they can get BIG.

When I was picking up all those Gormiti figures a few years back I used to get them pretty regularly from France. I could order five or six at a time and shipping was never more than ten or eleven dollars. Mind you that was a year or two ago, and I know prices have gone up, but we are still talking lightweight materials to be shipped.

I'd be okay if it was shipped out to me in some ugly cardboard box rather than something nice and pretty to look at if it cut down on shipping costs.

I've also decided to sit out on some KS from the USA (mainly KD and RBG) because of the shipping. For one mini it's expensive but from Lt and upwards it's fine.

It would be nice if they could come up with cheaper shipping for small orders, I agree. I was going to order a mini direct from Hi-Tech but the international shipping made me not want to bother (and it was only $10 or so.) You could always try and find someone local to you that would add your pledge onto theirs to split shipping.

I can understand them not wanting to go through contortions over a few $10-20 pledges though. It may be more trouble than it's worth. (Which, of course, is kinda crappy if you're one of the people that get ignored for that reason.)

Spin-cast resin = GW Finecast. Hopefully a better quality resin instead of plastic/resin that GW uses but is still prone to bubbles. You need a vacuum chamber to eliminate most bubbles in resin.

Thanks! So if they go for spin cast I hope they've got some series QC measures put in place. Have they said where they will get it done? I hope they don't go to china.

Also I'm not to interested in the characters (lovely though they are), I just really want troop boxes and support boxes. I hope they add an option for mostly troops and support boxes. In fact I will email them now, though not to sure if they will get it though.

Pretty sure finecast = finecast, and GW keeps the secret of their horrible material close to their chest (not that anyone wants it). Spincast resin is closer to Bones or Trollcast isn't it?

Those options exist as add-ons, so you may be better served going that route...

You're right on Trollcast being a spincast resin

however Bones is NOT a spincast material, it's injection moulded just the same as GW polystyrene or PP restic

Here is a link to a blog post I did when I started working on the Sci fi Blood Vestals:

As I have mentioned many times in my blog posts, the resin can even be painted directly... no washing or even priming!

Actually I did the same, and was flabbergasted that shipping is that much higher for fance, but i've shipped to spain, germany, the UK, italy, virtually all of EU for a fraction of the price, thats idiotic. The way it's presented it just seems like they're trying to filter out lower pledges that dont make sense. It hurts that I want like, 2 models, maybe a squad of 5 too, and this is going to cost me dramatically /more/ than if I payed retail and just got it from thewarstore later.

It would be nice if thewarstore neal or someone would step up and be a distro center for this KS, so they dont have to front shipping costs as much, and I would mostdef order some stuff through thewarstore at the same time as part of the order.

I do think the value is there, at the stated prices, just the "lol X2 that price for shipping" ebay-ish trick nonsense leaves bad taste in my mouth.

Probably, I'm having a bit of a blonde moment here. Even though I'm a KS veteran I should know this answer, I should still be eligible for the SG rewards if I pledge $305+ right?
