It really picked up today according to kicktraq:
http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/409030043/warmachine-tactics/#chart-daily

15 hours left in the statistical day and it's already about the same amount as yesterday's total.

I'm guessing it got a new article written about it or something.

Hopefully this momentum lasts for a few days, I'd really like to see Ret and Mercs in the game.

Updates were promised in the comments section last night. Whoever manning the KS was downright chatty even - so it might just be the activity spurring it forward a little.

I'm happy though as I got my super discounted Battleboxes in the mail today. At $30 a pop (and free shipping) it was hard not order like 5 of them really.

new Add On: A tabletop map pack.

We’ve been carefully considering every suggestion from our backers and are designing more Add Ons for the Kickstarter. One of the most frequently requested items is a map of the continent of Immoren and the Iron Kingdoms. We think it’s high time to fulfill that request, and we want to take it a step further!

The Tabletop Map Pack is a digital download that will include five high-res miniatures-scale battle maps straight out of WARMACHINE: Tactics that you can print out and use in your tabletop games. The in-game maps are incredibly detailed and will make fantastic encounter locations for RPGs or small WARMACHINE & HORDES skirmishes.

As well, the Tabletop Map Pack will include a huge map of Immoren, including both the western and eastern portions of the continent. If you’re new to WARMACHINE, Immoren is the continent where all this metal-on-metal action is going down. The Iron Kingdoms cover most of the western side, while the eastern portion remains largely wild-frontier except where it’s dominated by the ominous Skorne Empire, home to a fearsome race of inhuman conquerors bent on the conquest of the Iron Kingdoms.

Maps will be presented as 150 dpi PDF files, in 7.5” x 10” chunks that you can print off any home printer, but each will also be included as a single, complete image in case you want to print them from a large format printer or poster service. Battle map dimensions will range from 15”- 25” in width to 15”- 25” in length, and the Immoren map will be printable up to 41” wide x 33” high at the full 150 dpi resolution!

I don't get it. Well the map I get, but what are the other things for, the first two? Do you make then 4x4 and play on them or something? Wait I just reread it, use it for the RPG/small skirmishes. Interesting enough idea, and one of my group members for the IKRPG has a good printer that can churn stuff out for him for free since it is at his work, so they'll get some use.

Yeah. I want that Immoren map, but then I think about how I'll never spend the money to get it printed. The other two seem like there'll be limited use outside of IKRPG(even then) except perhaps to run scenarios based off of those levels.

They almost had me out of excitement from a new Add On. I was about to press Change my Pledge until I decided to go back and actually read it.

A physical map of Immoren shipping with my stuff that I've already ordered would have seen me pay 15/20 bucks, easily more than it'd cost them to make/ship. But probably not this. Also additional books about established characters would get me upping my pledge as well (I'm already down for the 10 dollar pack). And I'm sure a render, or even an individualised outline, of the other journeymen would help boost pledges

No offense, but if for IKRPG players, it's a pretty good deal, even if it doesn't work for you. A physical map of Immoren would have been nice, but the digital map will do nicely for RPG gaming.

Town names, battle locations, travel distances, plus players like to have a map so they can plan journeys and routes on occasion. You don't need one, of course, but it's kind of nice to have. The ones in the book are a bit small.

Hadn't thought of using it to plan travel, and you could gradually mark areas where, say, Cryx are raiding more heavily if your group was down there, and it'd be right over that really quick way to where they want to go...to chance being late or chance being hit by raiders...stuff like that could be quite fun. Ah well I have 16 days to decide, but I'm still leaning towards no for this add on.

Huh. $10 for a PDF. Seems like I could just get any one of the dozen or so friends I know that are interested in this kickstarter to print out the map for me... obviously, people want a printed version, not digital.

Can't blame them for not adding on physical "freebies", but a PDF map is an easy digital "freebie" if there ever was one... costs them nothing if the map is already made.

The Marauders Map is $40 and even the Terry Pratchett Discworld map done 15 years ago is still $20 (And that's overseas, here in Australia those prices are a fair bit higher still), so I think $20 is a bit off, especially as they don't yet have the fan base of either of those franchises to get an efficiency of volume. But yes, getting a physical map would be nice (as I mentioned in my first post anyway), but these things are more complicated to produce than you might think, so getting a digital version in the mean time is fine. In terms of using it for the RPG, a digital version is actually quite useful too, as you could print bits out and write/mark it without feeling horrible about it. Plus, you can always have it professionally printed in full scale on nice quality paper yourself if you want.

You can also do that with the Novels if you wanted - they don't have DRM. It's mostly just adding another option for people who want to put in some more money for the game. People who want it will get it, people who don't, won't.

Hey, I got my maps for free with the old $40 hardbound rulebooks... think I have something like 3 of them now, though I'm not positive where I got them from.

And, yeah, looking around, if they sold them for $20 a set, they'd be making $10 profit off of each of the 500 sold, and by the time they hit 1,000 sold, they'd be making closer to $15 off of each buy. Instead they're going for the pure profit and no physical product (and if you want to print one it's at low res for images) option.
