Probably a Daemon Primarch. The only one sane enough to do so would probably be Magnus.

I really have a pretty broad definition of "sane" but Magnus fits in it. I've never heard of him doing any insane stuff and he normally acts reasonably, so when did he get insane? Tzeentch's dominion doesn't involve insanity that's what you think, and if it did Magnus hates Tzeentch for di*king him over so hard so he probably isn't the prime example of a Tzeentch follower.

You take this discussion very seriously LoneLictor, I was just sarcastic...
Anyway, Tzeentch has all planned till the end of times, so the decision has allready been taken. I don't think it would be a Deamon Prince, Erebus is not a warrior leader, Kharn is absolutely mad and enable to drive a Black crusade...
The Fallen Primarchs had their chance during the Horus Heresy, and they missed it. I don't think Chaos gods would give them a second opportunity : they are loosers, they have failed.
IMO I would go with somebody unexpected, an new Horus : a respected and glorious Chapter Master whose mind would be twisted by Chaos Gods.

I don't think that the Traitor Legions would follow Huron Blackheart for a few reasons:
Firstly, Huron isn't that strong a leader. I mean sure, he's been able to cobble together an ad hoc pirate kingdom in the Maelstrom, but he lacks the sheer dynamism of a much older lord who fought at a primarch's side through the crusade and the heresy.
Secondly, I feel that any legionnaires would have a general feeling of disdain for any upstart renegade astartes lords. After all, what are his paltry achievements compared to those of a being who's commanded warriors who've fought for the dark gods for 10,000 years, and before that conquered entire subsections in the name of the False-Emperor?
Thirdly, even though Huron has a large enough following to conquer much of the Maelstrom, he lacks the numbers to subdue the millions of traitor humans, mutants, and daemon-spawn in the Eye of Terror, much less the tens of thousands of Chaos Marines there.
Lastly, there's the problem of basic galactic geography to deal with. The Maelstrom lies close to the Galactic core in the Ultimate Segmentum. To even get to the Eye, Huron would need to fight his way through large swathes of Segmentums Solar and Obscurus, some of the most heavily militarized Imperial bastions, and he'd need to contend with Battlefleets Gothic, Scarus, and Solar....some of the most lauded fleets in the entire Imperium. If by some dark miracle Huron survived such a trip, he would have taken such abysmal losses that any force he brings to the Eye would be negligible.
/end rant

Personally, I believe that if Abaddon falls, its game over for Chaos Undivided. The real cpntenders are the Daemon Primarchs. But only Lorgar and Perturabo would be suitable candidates being the only Undivided ones.Angron wouldn't listen to Fulgrim. Fulgrim wouldn't listen to Angron. Magnus wouldn't wouldn't listen to Mortarion and vice versa.
Perturabo is too siege oriented and sulky to do the job. Lorgar might be suitable but a hunch tells me the other Primarchs wouldn't listen to him. Maybe Magnus or possibly Angron but I doubt it.

It's implied that Erebus locked Lorgar away in his tower so he couldn't interfere with his plans.

I really dont think abby is all that special
The various chaos warbands fight amongst each other when they want to. They unite on a black crusade when they want to. Abby can try to lead them but I dont think he is the sole reason the warbands unite. Any suitably badass chaos warlord(of which there are many) can easily get chosen by the dark powers to be their undivided champion to run the crusades.

Just don't see Huron going for it. I mean he was never exactly a traitor Marine. The Imperium turned on him first then, then he was driven to Chaos. Not out of any love for the Chaos Gods but becuase that was the only way left for him at the end of the Babada wars.

However I would say no one. I don't think there are any other characters with the drive, leadership, or the respect and reputation to be able to bring all the war bands together.

At least according to the wiki (I can't say for sure where it comes from, but it was added after they tried to stick to canon more), there was a LOT of political wrangling that Abaddon had to do (calling in favors, threats, promises, etc) in order to get everything ready for the 13th Black Crusade (and presumably the other crusades). Chaos Is inherently fractious. Unlike Orks, they don't waaaagh together just for the hell of it.

As others have stated, I would assume it would need to be a Chaos Undivided leader who's still hellbent on defeating the Imperium. As much as I despise the Black Legion, why wouldn't it be one of his close lieutenants, such as one of the surviving Mournival advisors?
Huron's too young, good luck trying to get a 10k year old warrior to follow somebody a few centuries old who didn't fight in the HH.
You would think that one of the primarchs would really want to come out and fight as the leader, but most of them are content to sit on their daemon worlds doing whatever it is they do. (Except for Angron) If I had to pick a primarch who would lead Chaos, maybe Perturabo?
I think Typhus is a badass, but he's a Nurgle follower.

The Soul Hunters heir Decimus. /thread Seriously though, he's on his way to uniting the NL's and roflstomping Ulthwe. I could see him as being capable of doing it. Only problem is that he and the legion in general despise the warp gods, and have no interest in pursuing any agenda beyond their own. My money's on Huron. He has no problem getting daemons and cult-legionaires to follow his orders, I don't see his age being an issue. Got the might, must be right, and so on.

The thing is, Huron and the Maelstromites are kind of on the entirely wrong side of the galaxy, maybe he could call in some favors to get him over to the correct side, but if the warp currents aren't willing it's gonna be a long trip.
Which can totally be made into a comedy.

I'm going to cast my vote for Huron. But not in the manner your all thinking. I believe the events that follow would cascade with Huron becoming more powerful as a result.
1) Abaddon dies.
2) The Lords of Chaos in the eye decimate each other fighting for scraps from the table. Truly I don't think their is one contender strong enough to win through quickly.
3) The broken and disparate forces of the defeated melt away with their own warbands,
4) The eye is a free for all with no real safe spots. I can quite easily see the beginning of a migration of Chaos Space Marines to the supplies the Maelstrom offers.
5)I can see Huron absorbing a good number of Maine's from the eye as the warbands go about their business.
Herons rise to power wouldn't be a 'Raargh Im The boss' type event. But a slow exodus as the warbands dissipate without a cetral figurehead to keep them.
As for comments that Legionnairies wouldn't follow Huron because 'he wasn't there' would soon swallow their pride if they want their ship refitting or rearming. Huron has a central and organised power base. And that by its nature would draw support.
As for the comments that Huron isn't the dark gods chosen one. Well if Abaddon is dead then the Gods will need a new champion and I'd bet money on it bring the one with the most power pledged to undivided.
I'd also say a primarch wouldn't cut it. Any leader who can't sustain his form in the material universe isn't going to hold their followers together for long. A crusade maybe but nothing ling term.
