Yeah, she heard a radio commercial talking about adult toys. How do you explain that to a 6 year old? Warhammer models... So then she's like "my daddy plays with adult toys and leaves them on the table". So... Yeah, better think of another explanation to explain what an adult toy is to a 6 year old lol because they will go right to their grand parents to tell them about your adult toys, your adult toy table, and your adult toy bags full of toys...

I just laughed and rolled with it...we don't listen to the radio as much anymore either now.

When my 6 or 7 year old cousin asked what my Warmachine was I said they were "adult toys". And I mind-facepalmed at myself, because I actually used that word.

Kids aren't they great, some times it hard to keep form laughing. Just hope he never tells anyone about how his daddy gets togather with all his friends and plays with there adult toys.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.

Call them 'toy soldiers' where she can hear.

Or dollies.

The Auld Grump - daddy's playing with his dolls again....

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

My 4yo calls them Toy Soldiers, I'm happy with that as it's entirely accurate.

For what it's worth, with a some imagination, ingenuity, and the slightest bit of force, you should be able to make your 'adult toys' work both ways.

I've got my 2 year old calling my Wargaming Miniatures "Daddy's Toys". There's always room for misinterpretation, but much less so with this phrase.

Plus, it's the truth. I'm not self-deceived enough to try and convince anyone that they aren't simply grown-up toys that happen to require assembly and painting.

That is really quite funny. We don't have radio ads in Aus that I have heard about adult toys, luckily, so I will hopefully never have this problem!

You just need to tactfully explain the difference, so she can tell people what you are actually playing with and then nobody will think either you or her are strange.

Think about it, after a proper explanation, instead she will say to her teacher...

"My Daddy plays with highly detailed miniature figurines. Yes, they are a kind of grown up toy, not anything silly like..... spiky double ended dildos, gimp-masks, ass-less chaps, nipple clamps..... "

WRONG! WAR DOLLIES! That is the ONLY acceptable name ... WAR DOLLIES!

To the OP, that's hilarious and also a prime reason why I do not have kids. By 6 they would already be sooooooo screwed up. lol

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

I think "adult toys" would obvious confuse the connotation since that could mean something very raunchy indeed. Maybe "Daddy's/Mommy's hobby toys" would be a bit more clearer on that, and would sound less strange.

You mean I'm not supposed to put them up... but it felt... I enjoyed... bit spiky sometimes, but... slightly tight fit perhaps... wouldn't recommend CSM.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

A friend of mine is a commission painter. His wife, after getting a new job, was asked by her co-workers what her husband did, to which she replied, "He paints toys."

"Like, toy trains?" they asked.

"No, like, toys for grown-ups," she said.

Her manager went all pale, leaned in, and whispered, "You mean dildos?!"

I've never gotten the "daddy's toys" treatment.

When my kids refer to my minis, they always explain them to others or refer to them as "daddy's monsters."

Then again they've grown up with piles of Ultraman and all his kaiju buddies, so having piles of lizards, skaven, and tyranids lounging around along with all the Hordes monsters I've been painting is a pretty natural extension of Daddy's particular taste in his hobbies.

The hundreds of Gundams though? Those are Daddy's toys. And Daddy doesn't share!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I'm sure there are allot of train enthusiasts that would go apoplectic about that, suggesting that their dil...er i mean trains were toys!
