Just amazing Cam. Would have never thought someone could scratch-build a LR.

you sir are one of the few that mastered the small scale casting splendidly!!! the chains are an awesome idea!!!

the camo marines landraider is a beautiful piece... I think the scale is not any mm off to the real kit piece... with the chapter associated surfaces it is still in your face marine, but it is a refreshingly sight that even hints a slight homage due to the camo scheme towards tau in my opinion... which I rather think is a very clever amalgam...
the hammer décor on the sides is an interesting idea, while lurking your thread I was wondering what you might come up with for that space...

you are truly a scratch builder of the crème de la crème....

Smashing work. Really makes you do a double-take to check if it's not just a "real" one.

Stunning work, bud. I wouldn't even know how to start something like this. I'd love some scale shots please, I'd actually be even more impressed if it was closer to truescale. I hate GW tiny vehicle syndrome.

Not where I should be

Thank you,

As to scale, according to interwhatsit....

IRL LR 10.3m long, 6.1m wide, 4.1m high
1:56 18.3cm long, 10.8cm wide, 7.34cm high
GW LR 17cm long, 10cm wide, 7 cm high.
Mine 19cm long, 11cm wide, 8cm high.

So I am a bit big, but closer to true than GW. Heres a shot

Oh and next up.

Been mucking about with the idea of a truck, Imperial close to Taurox, but mine. Can't find dimensions for the taurox anywhere, but working on a theory.

Ah yes the GW LR is one of their better proportioned vehicles but yours is still much better scale. There's no doubt it could take a squad into battle. Thanks for the scale shot.

Truck sounds fun, where do you get all your resin crack?!

Yep, when it comes to vehicle scaling... yours is much more believable.

Really? He scratch-built a Land Rover, so, seems a logical progression. Plus, the Land raider would be the easier of the two.

LR looks just right. I like the sleek look it has. As far as gun and door placement, IIRC, the Space Marines (or whoever builds marine vehicles) are dumb, and simply follow without thought whatever designs have survived, no matter how garbled those designs are.

Edit: for clarity.

My Marines, The Dragons Errant are a unlisted Salamander group, they have all weapons mounted front, assault doors on the left and right are behind the sponson weapons as they originally were meant to be. BUT the GW imagery oin codeci as wella s some of the toruney rule nazis get upset if they are not as Cam and the books show. They forget that the fluff supports different "patterns" of the same vehicles.

Great work on the LR, Cam. Done a fantastic job on replicating the kit.

Good effort on the cast parts and on the freehand.

Thank you all for your comments, very much appreciated.

Well did a little more on the truck (Taurox proxy.) Still very wip and will be adding a load of detail yet, but have decided that this is a prototype, and If I like te general shape and the way it comes out, I will go back and start over with PC and maybe try molding it in part, so I can easily duplicate it, after all you need a convoy don't you....

Thoughts?

I'm not sue what the Taurox is supposed to hold, 10 guys maybe? I recon you could *just * squeeze ten guys in there. And it looks suitably trucky with nice big knobbly tires.

It looks great in all the photos except something is off in the head on view. That may be the fact I have a cool truck heading straight at me, but the proportion just seems a little off? Maybe because of the angle of the windscreen it looks too small?

I like it but I think the back could be bigger so it looks like it could comfortably take 10 guardsmen like your LR. If I was being really picky then it might be a touch too wide for me.

So we like the general design, with the crew cab, and a seperate cargo "bed", But it is a bit too chunky, and not quite long enough, and I am completely with you Archer, my windscreen is too small.

No problem, MkII on the way then. More truescale. Thanks for the feedback, exactly what I wanted.

Dimensions wise this one was 7cm wide, 11cm long and 6.5 cm high, so about the same size as the Taurox, but maybe a bit tall, next one will be a bit bigger, but less chunky.

More truescale is a good mantra in all things modelling I feel. It's music to my ears. Like more Dakka but the more refined side of the coin.

For Dakka was thinking about guns mounted on the fender, but more likely a pintle mount on roof, not sure.

Might I suggest ladders for those high doors!

Yeah, for dakka I'd go for a hatch on the roof of the passengers side of the cabin. An autocannon always feels like the meatiest gun for these situations.

I like the overall shape nice and boxy, the back trailer section could do with enlarging and the window screen as well maybe do the rhino guard section on it ?

The other thing is the front grill needs to be larger ( I gather the white section represents that ) then add some kind bumper bars over it, maybe some lights on the wheel fenders as well.

Thank you guys, taking all that on board.

Some of the details will follow, but for now here's MkII....

Started with Chasis, cheated a bit but heck why not...

Stuck an engine in it......( no idea why, never going to see it??)

Front end, with a bigger grill...

Started adding crew cab type area...

Then got a bit carried away....

Thoughts?

The best part in my opinion... is that you added an engine that will never be seen. Mark of a true crazy-man.
