Thanks for the closeups!

I still can't believe how incredible that model is - and the book!

The details on the book!

How in the world did someone paint that!

Wow!

It's clear to me now that he must have sold his soul to some foul deity for such skills at painting. It's the only possible explanation for such incomprehensibly amazing work.

Yeah I would have to agree she looks amazing, I'm going to have to pick her up for sure. I'd never be able to paint to that standard but would love to try, even if I only just get the colours in the right place

Hahahaha you fools.
You all fell for it. Those things are not real.. they cannot be real. They are CGI renders, made to look like miniatures.
Noone can paint stuff like that.

Right?
RIGHT? O_o

@Alpharius Yeah, Nakatan did a great job. I particularly love the beautiful book. Unfortunately, the enigma model is made of metal, so I am always a bit nervous moving it around my table/diorama for fear of it tipping over.

@Darth Bob Agreed!

@GiraffeX There are very few people that have the skills and talent to paint like these guys. They are professionals and it shows.

@Thairne Lol It is indeed amazing work. It does seem CGI rendered. Nakatan's skill is prodigious.

Back to the minis, here's a group shot of the ogre clan!

Here are some greater familiars. These guys are tiny!

And here they are with completed bases -

Here are some trolls and an owlbear. I really love these old school models. They look just like the D&D first edition Monster Manual. Brings back a lot of great memories from my childhood.

Those trolls and the owlbear are fantastic! I want some.

The skin tone on the trolls is really something else.

Waaay back in the start of the thread, Bloodmaw, Krull, and Jootan (sp) are just jaw-dropping. All of them are good, those three are, well, jaw-dropping.

I get a very 'Eaters of the Dead' (or 13th Warrior, if you saw the movie) from that Idruaada miniature. Very cool!

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

It is from Mierce Miniatures - Timoth from the Angelcynn kindred.

I don't know if he's available to the 'general public' yet though - I think he's only shipped to Kickstarter backers so far...

Glad you guys like the models.

Here are more old school, first edition D&D monsters - hobgoblins! They are painted to match the first edition D&D monster manual description (i.e., the flesh color and nose color match the description and, obviously, the models match the picture)

beautiful as always. I swear these model companies need to just use your pictures in their shop. I was looking for Rollo ( Desperately I might add after I saw your masterpiece ) they finally added him but all the pictures they have, for everyone really doesn't quiet compare to your pieces!

I agree the models on their site at one stage were really well painted, I'm guessing they must have changed painters as the quality seems to have gone downhill.

Really glad Sorn has kept to the good ones though so we can still get our fix.

Would be interesting to see some of these guys take on an Infinity mini.

Thanks, guys. @Rogue Wolves Below is a picture of Rollo (who represents my character, Sorn, in the 5th edition D&D campaign) and Naara (another one of my favorite models) in my diorama.

@GiraffeX Glad you like the models. I am not into SciFi at the moment (and will unlikely be into it anytime soon), so, unfortunately, it is not likely you will see SciFi models in this thread in the next year or so.

Here's Ieuen and his loyal dog!

@Kelly502 Glad you like the pics. I will have to post a few more pics of the next adventure, which should happen next weekend.

@alanmckenzie I certainly considered it, and I may consider it in the future. Time will tell.

Here are some more hobgoblins-

Love old school D&D. My favorite module when I was but a wee lad was Tomb of Horrors. It was such a challenge for even the highest level adventurers. Gale Force 9 come out with a Tomb of Horrors set of models. I simply could not resist buying them...

Here's the high level fighter!

Here's the high level cleric - bearing the full brunt of the evil Lich Lord Acererak -

Here''s the high level paladin - (kind of reminds me of the large female knight in game of thrones)

The next adventure happened yesterday.

The party:
Sorn, the Barbarian
Lady Emerys, the Paladin of Tyr (figure subject to change in future)
Rasec, the High Elf Wizard
Bludrac, the Drow Ranger (figure subject to change in future)

Jericho has put up a nice adventure blog at:

https://sites.google.com/site/theeventidechronicle/dark-skies-campaign

He does a much better job at describing the adventure. But here's the gist of it-

Having defeated the cultists on the bridge while escorting the townsfolk to the castle, the party presses on to the castle. Traversing the bridge, the party spots another group of kobolds attacking townsfolk and heroically engages them-

After making short work of the kobolds, the party enters the castle and meets with the captain of the guard. The captain sends the party on a mission to protect the mill of the town from the incursion.

The party travels to the mill through the town and then the forest...

And gets ambushed by three incredibly large, dire, war dogs of the cultists. A fierce battle ensues with the ranger falling to the large grey dog.

After emerging victorious and reviving the ranger, the party climbs up the hill to the mill, which is next to a recently abandoned guard tower. Group of 6 cultists make their way up to the mill. The party fails their stealth checks (with miserably bad rolls), resulting in the party's carefully orchestrated ambush preparations being for naught. A fierce combat ensues...

The party was again victorious, successfully protecting the town's mill. The party returns to the castle only to find it being stormed by more cultists. Many dead townspeople and guards are strewn about the main gate. Unfortunately, the tide of battle is turning against the town protectors as evidenced by the attackers having managed to pry the main gate open. The party puts up a strong defense on the drawbridge, facing a heavy assault by 4 kobolds, 2 cultists and a mercenary.

Guards position themselves to protect the citizens within the castle walls

The fighting is fierce but the party turns the tide back around.

The party is victorious and is able to knock the mercenary unconscious, bringing him into the castle for a less-than-gentle interrogation by the party and the captain of the guard.

The interrogation bears fruit. The mercenary informs the party and the captain of an evil presence that has made its home in the graveyard near the town. The party agrees to investigate.

Appearing to sense the presence of the party, something emerges from the catacombs entrance - a formidable undead warrior, a wight! The party bravely attacks, with the barbarian and the ranger's melee attacks being largely ineffectual.

Fortunately, the wight's defenses fail to protect it from the paladin's righteous fury, and she skewers the wight with multiple mighty blows, bolstered by radiant damage.

The paladin's efforts secure her the MVP slot of the game. And the adventure ends with the party having advanced from first to second level. Stay tuned for the next adventure when our intrepid adventurers will explore the catacombs...
