I like the cog idea though I admit I feel the scale is somewhat "Orky", if that maked sense? Perhaps add some smaller cogs and wheels to make it look overly conplicated as AM have a want to make things?

Hi Mate, thanks, yeah I kind of agree with you in most cases.... but I think here I am going for a real holding facility.... almost bunker like and solid to really make sure that those held inside "which may be valuable to some" can be protected and secured... the holding pod itself will certainly be high tech.. but I think there could be a nice contrast between the 2 elements..
shasolenzabi wrote:Oh even cog-wheel tech like on the door would be acceptable to the Adeptus Magos's, they could have for all we know converted a Garage for Leman Russes into that lab as they never throw anything away!
Yes I like that idea..... it was an old bunker / tank garage.. deemed solid and secure enough to be requisitioned as a holding facility...

You might be right there mate... I admit I wanted it to look big as the door itself is massive and heavy.. so need a large gear to move it... but maybe something a bit more complex would be better suited....... hhhmmmmmm
Oh... and I have been giving some thought to our "subjects" means of escape... I wont give away too much..... but "SHAWSHANK" ..............
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh....... I forgot to mention.... I FINAL bought some tracks for my Macharius Mk1!!!
I went with the Liberator 1.0 tracks from Machinator and his Blood and Skulls store! VERY excited about receiving them!
I think they are really going to compliment the Mk1 feel and vision I have for the tank!
Anyway... just wanted to share!

Haha... I think tank size would be the only thing I could match him on.... his work is pretty awesome! Still wondering about adding sponson weapons to this... I think it will look pretty mean.... but fear I might anger the gods if I dont max the dakka?!
Any thoughts?

If it's 40k, then sponsons are a given surely - but in my book rule of cool would win and I'd go sponson-less

Up to you on the sponsons, looks baneblade sized so it should be fine without. Looks awesome so far!
Out of interest what have you made the sized from, is it plasticard or foamboard? ATM I'm thinking the latter
Looking forward to seeing what you do with your bunker / tank garage, nice to see peoples ideas coming along

Thanks OMN .... It is indeed 5mm foamboard.... I have loads of it lying around and its pretty sturdy so thought it would do well as the track units...
Still swithering about the sponsons..... I definetly don't want any protruding sponsons, but I might think about putting the "Malcador" style gun ports instead... would add weapons to the sides but keep the clean lines overall...
Thanks, I need to get the finger out with the comp.... got plenty of ideas of what I want to do... just need to nail them down!
Cheers,

Oooooooo exciting times!! My tracks from Machinator have arrived today! Fresh out of the bag and wanted to get an idea of how they would look.
IMHO they are a perfect size..... and going to really look good on the MK1 Mach!
Going to do some LoER tonight... so will get these sorted later!

Small piece done for the LoER comp tonight. Changing my plan up slightly to be a little more achievable with my time scale and ability...... the tank shed / bunker has been put on the back burner and I am going to concentrate on the story..... anyway... no more details..... mums the word..... got one wall section done....
Cheers

Tracks fit on surprisingly well, almost as if you had measured them.
Make sure to add a hole for them to be coming out of.
Do you have access to a laser-cutter, or did you buy the eagle in the background?
The hole, with the burn marks, is just as interesting as the piece that's been cut out, gives me an idea for the future.
Wall/arch/buttresses shows promise.

Thanks to the "H's" both big & Dr!
Yeh they do seem so fit quite nicely and actually give a really nice thin profile... so its going to keep the tank looking lower!
The eagle is actually a stencil I bought... the eagle was the cut out piece that came still In its position.. So the eagle itself is redundant and it is the cut out part that is the useful part! Although I am definetly going to be using the eagle too!
PS...
I am getting a wee delivery of 1mm "Rivets" Tonight..... should be interesting.. the ones I have used previously are all 2mm!

Thanks my man! Yes indeed I am over the moon with how it is progressing..... track units tonight!
Haha... thats actually only part of the wall but it is giving me an idea for the door!
Well.... today I received my 1mm "Rivets' ..... I have added a couple of pics to let you see them compared to the 2mm on the Macharius.....
I might look to add some to the track jnits but I think it would look better to have the rivets uniform throughout the build.....

Hey all.... managed a wee bit of time on the Steam Scout..... really rough form but quite likr the feel of it.... got a little container for the boiler.... planning on a lot of rivets and need to decide either tracks or wheels..... the gun housing at the front is a little squint but I will be able to sort that.... and its really nice and small which is what I was after.... love to hear some opening C&C

Nice little tank there...intersting design to riff on
Tracks or half-track for that baby
And good luck with sticking to two projects, and working tidily - both those concepts are just far too alien for my brain to comprehend
I'm really hoping you didn't throw anything useful out - to be honest I'm cringing just at the idea of throwing anything even remotely related to modelling out

Hey all, thanks for the comments... I think I agree with you and going to have a crack at a half track... but perhaps going to have the wheels at the back providong the drive?!
Had a little time watching the rugby and managed to get some rivets on and got the boiler fitted.... the sharp eyed among you will realise it is the breach end of an earthshaker canon. IMHO it fits the well pretty there... need a wee hatch ontop of the commanders area and then plan out the tracks/ wheels.
Got some filling to do around the boiler and then some nice little details to add.
Cheers all,
