Well I say......

I may have to indulge you Mr graven! As it seems that Round 14 of the LoER Terrain competition has just landed squarely in my lap and I think will be a great chance for me to use this terrain piece as my entry.....

Everyday kitchen / household items.... CHECK..... Make something ordinary, extra ordinary...... POTENTIAL CHECK...... Excitement & brain juices flowing.... DOUBLE Check .... Massive phallic rivet gun..... we will see!!

Got some time today to come up with some more sketch ideas of how I think I want this piece to develop!

cheers,

wow....man i have visited some of my subscribed threads not for what feels like ages... i feel really sorry for missing out on so much cool stuff...
the lil steamer... was a brilliant design, and too bad it had such a cruel destiny...
the efac tank i think went for way too cheap over the counter...that was a terrific build...
i hope to become a regular again...

cheers, vik

Ahoy Vik!

Good to see you & thanks for popping in!

Yeh it was a shame for the wee steamer..... but there will be a revival... 2 infact... along with their larger relative! but for now all else is pushed aside to concentrate on the LoER comp 14! Sounds like it could be right up my alley!

thanks for the kind words on the ebay tank....

Look forward to you looking in again and hitting me with some C&C!

Ahoy everyone.

Hope alls well,

Apart from thimking and racking my braims for the LoER competition I have had a bit more work into the GOW King Raven.

It is a lovely model and kit I have to admit. Goes together really well and is good fun. Got the tail section put together and added to the body. Took a couple of scale pics of Marcus Pheonix with trooper bob for a comparison.

Hope you guys like it.

Cheers,

fething huge piece i say....!
what currently offends me is the big viewable screws, they could have tackled that probably better in another way...

as for the comp... well i have looked through my junk collection... now inspiration has to hit me while looking at the selected pieces as well...pfffffff....

Thanks Vik,

Yeah it is a rather big piece for sure!

the large screw heads are a bit annoying but it is a construction piece rather than a showcase model so I guess actually being able to see the construction method is alright! It has been mentioned before.. but these Mecanno sets have really come a long way...... they actually do a GOW Centaur tank in this range also..... looks sweet.. might have to get my hands on one of them at some point!

Good luck with the comp buddy! I am sure you will come up with something awesome as always! I am really struggling with this to be honest... I want to be really true to the theme and am going to try and attempt without buying any parts ...

Ahoy all... hope all is good.

Got some time today on the next LoER competition.

The 2 base pieces I am going to be using are 2 empty printer cartridge packets. As with the rules of the competition both units will be treated differently. One will be intact amd ome destroyed. I have a couple of pictures of the parts before I started. I managed to get a very WIP of the base.

Built up using pizza basas and the given a first rough coat of polyfilla. Going to add an underground bunker door and a lot of cables and piping. But IMHO its got some potential.

Would love some C&C.

Cheers all,

Thanks for looking in gents! I appreciate it!

and thanks for the forewarning Vik..... I will have a go at gluing something to the printer cartridges tonight. Better to find out now rather than later if its not going to work!

In other news.... I am over the moon and awaiting the arrival of a certain package from a Mr Klaus in Germany! some may know that he recently had a "clear out" of some of his previous projects in order to make himself some more work space.... I was one of the very lucky few to manage to secure one of the pieces on offer! Cant wait for it to arrive...

my wretched modesty kept me from answering klaus request... see...
Neil Gaiman
“You see, evil always contains the seeds of its own destruction. It is ultimately negative, and therefore encompasses its downfall even at its moments of apparent triumph. No matter how grandiose, how well-planned, how apparently foolproof of an evil plan, the inherent sinfulness will by definition rebound upon its instigators. No matter how apparently successful it may seem upon the way, at the end it will wreck itself. It will founder upon the rocks of iniquity and sink headfirst to vanish without trace into the seas of oblivion.”

HERCULES HAS ARRIVED! !!!

As I mentioned earlier, I was very lucky to mamage to obtain one of Klaus' s projects in his clearout. Hercules the epic tank and the scenic base arrived from Germany and I will admit that I was excited!

Un boxing the piece and I certainly was not disappointed! Apart from some small superstructural damage from the joirney, the tank is awesome! Really lovely design and great model and paint job! Got a scale shot and am really happy that Herc site nicely beside my Macharius MKI! They are going to be a formidable force when both completed!

Unfortunately the scenic base didnt cope so well. A fair bit of damage but I am sure it will go nack together pretty well!

Overall I am over the moon at mamaging to have one of these really inspirational pieces in my wee collection!

Cheers all and thanks again Klaus!

Hey Klaus,

No problem at all... its not your fault... the piece was well packed and secure... the Hercules only has small pieces that need fixing.. I managed to put it back together... and I am sure the base will go back together when I get some time to look at it! At the end of the day... it is a fantastic piece and I am really happy to have it here!

Thanks again!

Good choice. 'tis a nice tank.

Shame about the base. Looks to be fairly clean breaks, so should be easily repaired.

You could always take the opportunity to extend the base for both tanks...

HHhmmm.... wise words indeed....... damn it... now my brain is thinking how to do it!

Thanks for the kind words all,

Its not all been Hercules related work tonight.... I got a small amount done on the boiler unit for the "Chief Steamer" ..... added the earth shaker as before and the little details but this time I have added a fly wheel to one side.... I cant decide to either use it somehow to run the drive tracks..... or keep it to run some other kind of machinery like an old steam engine.... any thoughts?!.....

Not a lot to look at yet but I like where it Is going...

Was also thinking of adding a sponson to one side... to really bulk it out a bit and mark it out from the smaller Steam Scouts that will follow.....

Cheers All,

It's a shame klaus's Diorama got damaged in the post, hopefully you'll be able to put it back together.

Unfortunately there are some postman out there who just don't care. I once sent something from the UK to Australia,
it made it 11,000 miles undamaged, until the postman chucked it over the back fence, where it was attacked by two very large dogs.

Yeh it is pretty disgusting really... it just shows a real lack of respect for other peoples belongings IMHO.... although I can relate to the dog attack.... I have dogs and more than once I have caught them making off with parts of my models or with their noses in my bits box! haha! Demons!

I am pretty confident it will go back together 95%.... might have to add a couple of my own little bits and details to it but want to keep it as true and honest to the original design by Klaus as I can!

shasolenzabi wrote:Package handlers must have manhandled it a bit, played rugby with the package!

You ma be right..... I can just picture the baggage handlers trying to emulate "Johnny Wilkinson" and drop kicking the packages into their respective delivery boxes! But ot be honest the damage on the tank wasn't too bad and I think the base will be ok!

Thanks again for looking in all!
