Yeah, I am a little disappointed in turrets and tripmines. Not sure I want to swap from technician back to Ghost and go Ghost/Fugitive, but I'm sorely tempted.

Problem with sentries is they go for centre mass, which nine times out of ten is armoured.

Thanks to being Infamous level 2 now I am forced to dump less points into the Technician tree. It's not much, but it helps.

Also, day three is now on-line: http://www.overkillsoftware.com/games/thediamond/

Sadly it won't be until later tonight until Overkill presses the button and releases both.

Also, two new DLC packs are coming soon: one containing all heists and one containing all guns. These come with an exclusive mask. Already got both or either pack contents? YOU WILL STILL GET THE MASKS.

And they announced something else: Multi-skill builds. Dunno what it means, but it's something the community has been screaming for.

feth YEAH

• Introducing Multi Skill Builds – Are you tired of re-speccing every time you want to switch from stealth to loud? Have you ever wanted to have multible skill builds but never could afford the skill costs or bother remembering your favorite set-up? If so, this is your lucky day; introducing the Multi Skill Build feature. Construct up to five Skill Builds - profiles of skills and perk decks. Need a Skill Set heavy on stealth for Framing Frame? Jumping between a Fugimind and a Techforcer set-up? No problem – create a Skill Build each, save it out and you're good to go. Going loud in Hotline? Easy. Switch back to a loud Skill Build. With a few clicks, you're always ready to bring the best skills for any heist.

Eyup, took me a moment to realize what it was all about. But, making good use of it to finally do that stealth build I've always wanted! Maybe now I can be more useful when we need to be sneaky-sneaky and stabby-stabby!

Also..

Her pager talks are well, her answering using her thick accent in some cases and the operator simply going "uh-huh" and "See you at bowling later!"

Haven't had a chance to give the new heist a try yet though, they released it too late in the evening for me.

It'll prolly only get worse when they go for the proposed Overkill 125+ skill trees.

Okay, gave the new heist a quick whirl, it's a fun one with some new elements thrown in for laughs. Buying some of the Dentist assets is a must-have though, I wouldn't play it without thermal paste at the very least for starters and the glass cutters are essential if you want to make this mission at least a little bit profitable.

On that remark, I am really not sure about their Pre-Planning / Assets system. It's...weird. In the beginning, you can't afford taking those, but quickly, you're drowning in money and can blindly buy everything.

Pre-Planning greatly evolved that system by maximizing the number of favors you can take. The general assets, however, are...weird.

Aye, I think the asset system is slowly being phased out in favour of pre-planning, which does give you more control on how you want a heist to go. It does make (IMHO) heists like Shadowraid more enjoyable as you can now decide where the zipline will be. It's no longer a random thing left in the hands of some tool who just randomly does gak, but this time round, seeing as you do the heist, you get to decide how it goes down.

Most of the assets are either useless (insider info for the regular bank jobs anyone?) or not required to pull off a successful caper, especially as the game continues to evolve and give you more toys to play with. Mallcrashers comes to mind. Why bother with the gas cans when three frags can quickly get Bile to come swooping in at under a minute if you know what you're doing?

Also, drill placement for those bank jobs, lolwut?! Some are nice, but with a good crew you don't need any of that stuff IMHO.

I bashed through a few heists today with three good and not to mention competent friends. We almost managed to silently do the Diamond heist, only messing up in the last minute when one of us got spotted with no pagers left.

edit.

I salute these bastards!

I'm absolutely loving Clover, I'm very Irish myself and prefer to play a female character, so she's right up my alley. I don't really understand why so many people are complaining about her looks because (1) she looks just fine and (2) why does it matter? THE Diamond is a fun heist, though, I've seen people claim it's super easy on loud but my crew just got swamped with police the entire time, it was pretty rough.

Anyways, I'm starting to run low on people to heist with, so I'm going to be slightly pathetic and say if you want a semi-competent player (but I'm pretty handy with a sniper rifle), then add Skogsdotter, I'd greatly appreciate it. As long as you don't mind a fair amount of foul language (you probably don't if you're playing Payday) then I'm pretty easy to get along with.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

The Diamond heist plays nice and tense when going quiet, when you play loud it's just like any other silent job gone bad really: fight off waves of SWAT and FBI until you can get the shiny.

edit.

They also fixed the payout of the Diamond heist, it should be worth a whole lot more now, making it more worthwhile to play on higher difficulty levels.

I didn't think she could replace Chains as my favorite, but damn is she trying. It's hard to top Chain's "turned into a freakin Pekingese" pager line.

Diamond is pretty straight forward up until the "step on the right platforms" thing, which can be hard to do solo. Going in loud I haven't had a problem with, but those stupid platforms...

i haven't played this in a while and patched the game up and had a go at it again, I guess I should have read up on some builds before I spent all my refunded points on things that seem pointless now.

any suggestions for some useful builds with survivability? I seem to be very squishy even pretty beefy armor on.

currently im the "drill guy" but maybe something more dodge focused so I can run around with bags?

I really like using rifles and akimbo does have me interested as my locomotive seems more like a toy train than the freight train it used to be.

It's free, yeah...but...ugh. Guess I just expect more from a company charging superduperextrapremium for DLC.

I prefer the Trautman knife myself when going loud, it even has a little compass in it, just in case you get lost during a heist.

I do like the trench knife when going silent, though I am hesitant to actually call the Fairbairn–Sykes one, seeing as it lacks the brass knuckles that makes it a trench knife.

My favorite is the Psycho Knife for a few reasons:

1. It's pretty fast. I can stab a swat to death before he can react usually.

2. It's pretty low on the conceal chart. I mean, it's no toothbrush or wad-o-cash, but it's also not the ding-dong-breaching tool.

3. If you charge it all the way, the music from Psycho starts playing.

It's just awesome.

That the music starts to play on a full charge is certainly a nice touch, makes the stalking of and waiting for security guards to reach certain parts of a map all the more entertaining.

I prefer the X-86, it's the best knife other than the trench knife for concealment-focused builds. The trench knife is really a broken thing, though.
