Privateer Press plastics are a type of PVC, not a resin/plastic hybrid.

Restic is just a gimmick name for PVC.
I hate the stuff. Whether it be Privateer Press or Sedition Wars I've had poor results, I've hated working with the stuff and have sworn off it. If this project is going to use PVC (a cheap, trashy material whose key benefits are low cost and not needing to relearn how to sculpt for hard styrenes) for its miniatures then my interest has completely evaporated. I guess that's good for my wallet at any rate.

Not excited about restic. I hope for a resin set or a set without miniatures so I can get a board/dice/cards/rules and use other 3rd party minis if the minis suck or are poor quality in material/casting.

Restic is a bunch of different materials with roughly similar properties (PP and mantic use the same thing, but there's also finecast, trollcast, whatever AoW uses is different too I think). Has anyone actually messed around with Gamezone restic models? The dark elf spearmen have been around for a bit haven't they?

My real question is how comparable this "restic" is to the original HQ figures, because those are fine. Other than one or two weapons breaking off enemies, they've endured use, decades of storage and a dozen moves just fine.

Original HQ was polystyrene - what tends to be called hard plastic. It won't be that (though there's no reason why restic couldn't be a resilient formula).

I'll have some of the Gamezone PVC plastics in my possession shortly and I'll post pics and a mini-review. I hope they are similar to the recent Avatars of War pathfinders as they were easy to work with and far superior to the Sedition Wars PVC.

It's not that hard to get hold of a copy in decent condition via eBay. I picked up one and combined it with the stuff I still had to form a copy I'm pretty happy with. Also picked up AHQ the same way...

Me too! 3 way fight now between this, AvP and the Battle Systems KS..

From Gamezone tweets kickstarter prices
Basic boxed game $89
Boxed Game and 15 heroes - $110
Boxed Game, 15 heroes and all stretch rewards - $150
EDIT: Apparently that's 15 heroes in addition to the 8 in the box. There will be 50 all new adventures in the rulebook, every model even minions will have unique poses and the baord will have the classic dungeon design on one side and an outdoor shore line scene on the other, the Drakk are humanoid dragons and replace the Fimir.
And.. all of that is awesome news. The resin terrain pieces are a nice sounding touch as well.
Now for the minis.. Am really hoping the current trend of everything Spanish and miniature related being amazing continues for another couple of months !

Yeah there's always 1 or 2 on eBay for < £30. I sold a complete set at a local con for £25 last week, and still have a stack of spares to sort and flog (I ended up with 2 and a half boxes of it)

I guess it's a matter of availability, because the Spanish version, in good condition, can be between 100 and 150€. Lucky me, I've never got rid of my copy.

You're probably right there; we're talking about the English version which presumably sold in much bigger volumes since GW is British and MB is American.

For the English market, it is the expansions that are difficult to get hold of these days rather than the core box, again presumably because they sold less copies in the first instance than the original boxed set. The first two, "Kellar's Keep"
and "Return of the Witch Lord" crop up on ebay fairly regularly, in various states of completion, however the third expansion, "Against the Ogre Horde" is very rare to find and almost inevitably very expensive.
I'm surprised to hear there are those who seem to find them 'regularly' for $50 or however much the conversion might be.
I rarely see intact HQ sets up for less than $200+. I have my own copy so it's not a concern, but if it's so cheaply and easily available on the other side of the pond, perhaps this KS won't do very well in that section of the world.
Guess North America will just have to make up the difference!

The difference is that against the ogre horde was never available in North America, so there's less supply and more demand. Wizards of Morcar was the same situation.
Similarly, there was a Barbarian and Elf quest pack available only in the US that go for stupid prices.

Yea, I just don't have the cash to really spend on it. If I still had it from 20+ years ago, that'd be ideal, but there are things I want to spend money on more than HQ :(
New HQ might be one of those things It is actually better if I have to wait a while, since getting my wife into it is only a possibility, but my spawn grows stronger within her with each passing day. Soon, she will break screaming into this world, to take up her fathers arms and stride forth into the world!
So what sort of international costs and delays will US backers face for an internationally KS product? Will we have VAT-like fees, customs inspections and delays, etc.? I'm already assuming USA backers will have their stuff shipped after domestic (Spain) backers and/or distributors.
It depends on how they run the campaign. For example, Mantic (UK-based) sends stuff out to backers regardless of location in advance of distributors in most cases.
I hope these guys are prepared for what could be a considerably large first day if this game looks to at least visually live up to its predecessor.
I'm wondering if there will be any serious game play tweaks. I also wonder if they'll toss in an AI deck or something along those lines for the times when I get absolutely sick of CONSTANTLY having to be the bad guy, and want to do something heroic for once.
I really hope that all inclusive pledge is truly that- all inclusive, like what Guardians Chronicles netted you (which was EVERYTHING) for almost the same price.

Gives us a good idea of some of the stuff we'll see in the box.
Shame it isn't as metal as the old box though!
Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out! Our grading term ends today, so Friday is going to be a pretty much nothing day, especially since my students are off for the entirety of Thanksgiving Week. That means art projects and fun stuff when they're in my class, which they won't be most of Friday (since they have music, PE, and computer lab time, which counts as my prep time as well).
Not sure actually which I'm looking forward to more though- this game or vacation!
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
I have to say, I really, really, REALLY, like the new art direction. It has subtle hints of the Torchlight universe, Warcraft universe, and a touch of the Pathfinder universe, all rolled into a rather nice look. I'm curious to see if the minis will all be the same pose, or if maybe we'll get a few variants here and there.
The clear bases are cool, but I wonder how difficult it will be painting if the miniatures are attached: will the bases come attached already, or will we need to assemble on our own?
Really excited for this, as it was one of the first games I cut my teeth on when I was young.
