I've read up on how Marines are made for the Imperium. It seems like a hell of an intense selection process. Entire sectors of space with planets devoted to the birthing and creation of the Adeptus Astartes, sacred areas of the Imperium's controlled space.

What about Chaos? How the feth do traitor legions recruit new marines? How do they create them?

Can it be from anything like random guardsmen turning renegade, then the renegade gets jumped by a Chaos Marine soul from the warp, which takes over it's body after "killing" it's mind and absorbing it's soul?

Do the Daemon worlds breed more Chaos Marines?

Destroy to create. Wreak havoc upon the infrastructure and bring life anew. Break through all barriers to realize there were no barriers. Realize there were only treacherous games. Learn the entirety of the game. Find the game makers; find the dick traitors/dictators.
Explode unto thy betrayers - ruin all their materials, dethrone and desecrate their persona, crush and manipulate their force, squeeze and torture their ideals to redirect their goals so as to dominate their souls, extract and perfect their fear so as to mitigate their strength and amplify their weakness.
Cut out the sickness, then imprison the wardens. Sing the song blood red and true. Create their destruction.
All for the hunt to dominate.

In some cases, pretty much the same way. There's a short story about a world that's been claimed by the Night Lords as a recruitment world, from which they cull the best as new recruits. The Imperium can't police every planet. This works best for legions, like the Night Lords, who still have relatively pure gene-seed.

Otherwise, more dramatic solutions are taken to "mass-produce" space marines. Honsou of the Iron Warriors
Spoiler:
built a daemonic machine called the Daemonculaba to "birth" new Iron Warriors in one of the more disgusting ways possible.

Slaves and captured geneseed. Space Marine Scouts captured from Loyalist Chapters. Their own non-Imperial Human worlds found in the Eye or in places where the Imperium had not yet trod.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Many loyalist marines see the light and come over to Team Chaos

But CSM create new marines in quite a few different ways, depending on the warband/legion/etc. They still have gene seed and the knowledge of how to implant and harvest it.

Fabius Bile is a master at genetic manipulation and he has done a lot of work on creating and altering space marines.

You can recruit them from those slave stock taken in battle or the peoples on the worlds of the Eye of Terror,

Breed, train and indoctirinate them from an early age - much like Loyalist Chapters do.

Pretend to be a Loyal Chapter and take a tithe from a planet.

Stealing geneseed appears to be important to some Chaos Marine chapters or elements of them......

How - well the Dark Mechanicus has losts of really wierd stuff they can do.

As well as all of that there seems to be a lot of fighting between cgaos factions within the eye of terror, where anything goes. Brought back to life randomly by a passing daemon prince, existing in different places at the same time, different marines from different dimensions, go with whatever is most fun

Depends on the warband.

The Tsons cannot make new Thousand sons, no rubric or ahriman for them.

The Alpha Legion and Night Lords have pure gene seeds that can work just like any other chapter.
The Iron Warriors i think is only slightly degraded
The black legion and word bearers are degraded but can perhaps make new astartes
Death Guard on the other hand have mutated to the point that they cannot make astartes from the old marines.

so they steal gene seed. Every chapter in the IoM tithes some of it's seed to go into banks that the AdMech runs on some of their forge worlds. CSM have been known to raid them for gene seed. The AdMech also keeps gene seed from the original traitor marines, so you could have new death guard or Tsons(who would then start to mutate into chaos spawn unless they were sorcerers)

or they go through another process. They uses Daemonfuges or Fabulous Bill tech to grow hideous things that resemble space marines.

Just like the normal AdMech has hordes of geneseed, so does the DarkMech. They will create new space marines in exchange for protection and stolen tech from their loyalist brothers.

In other words, creating new CSMs always takes up resources, as they either steal, beg or borrow their way to new marines.

Allegedly there are 11 or 12 additional dimensions rolled up within our own universe. Maybe they have escaped from those.

OK

The book Blood Gorgons shows how the Blood Gorgons CSM use pretty much exactly the same methods as loyalists. They have their own worlds that they recruit from and protect from invaders.

In the Ultramarines books, the Iron Warriors Warsmith Honsou creates new CSM by basically incubating captured Imperials (one example is a former Commissar cadet) inside daemon-things and feeding them ground up geneseed.

I think that they use the same ways they did before the HH. They would take warriors, implant, and new SM (CSM). Of course, there are many ways that this is done now.
Check out WH40k wiki for some good ideas.

Yeah and those dimensions are things like width hight depth and time. they are other directions not other worlds, and what to us would appear as non linear timeframes.

While there may be life in these dimensions it won't be human or anything resembling life as we know it. There are definitely not other versions of our own universe in them.

Agreed with others that it would vary by specific Legion. Chaos marines will find any way to replenish their numbers be it the imperial way, all manner of daemonic/technological combinations or whatever other ways they can scheme up based on whats most doable for each Legion.

In Black Crusade (the FFG RPG) they state that makinga CSM is a rather simple process:

1- get gene-seed
2- stick it in someone
3- wait
4-if he dies, well it's in horible pain so at least it's entertaining...if he lives, he suffers horrible pain nonetheless, mutates into someonthing else and becomes a CSM

For some World Eater bands after they fight a space marine loyalists they will drag away survivors and torture/indoctrinate them. Zhufor, a Chaos Lord, had this done to him and they implanted butcher nails in his head and he went crazy and joined up with them.

The Emperor may be able to see everything but do you think he can see why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch?
