The dropship is actually almost done. Really, I just need to wash a few bits and add a few decals. I just have so little time now with my new job, I barely get to paint. I only really get about 30 minutes now. An hour if I'm lucky.

So, update. I have completed the Arbiter Interceptor. Aside from maybe putting a few decals on it, I'm done with it. But, I have not taken any photos of it. Yet. With luck, I'll get some photos of it this weekend.

I did paint some figures this week though! Yes, amidst the Arbiter, work, and not having much time to paint, I managed to start and finish three figures!

Two more Russian special forces soldiers to add to my ranks.
First is another machine gunner, this one with an RPK.

second is another grenadier

Yes, I painted the eyes on both of these guys, and yes, I did remember to paint a little Russian flag on them. I decided not to paint these two in camo, obviously. I've seen in pics that the Russian military does have non camouflaged uniforms. These aren't quite the same shade of green as those, but they're close enough for my taste and they look good mixed in with my non SSO guys.

Funny enough, the color I used for their uniforms looks like a pretty good match for Seal Team 5's green uniform. Hmm.

The other figure I painted is totally random. It's a Roman civilian. Nothing exciting here. Just some dude. Looks like he wants to share his opinions with whoever will listen to him.

He's from the Gangs of Rome line. Nice, simple, and something fairly different for me to paint.

May I ask what Colour you used for the Raptors? I tried several Greens from Vallejo on mine now but none is quite the right shade. That darkish Camo green looks great!

Sorry it's taken a few days to get back to you. The paint is now called US Olive Drab, #70.887. I used to be part of their Panzer Aces colors and went under the name US Tank Crew.

Two more figures completed. Another modern spec ops and a gladiator.

Here's an American Spec-Ops guy. He's another Spectre Miniatures figure. I believe he's listed as a Tier 1 Operator. I think? But yeah, pretty much just a generic special forces guy. He comes armed with a suppressed MP-7 smg.

The other figure is another Gangs of Rome figure from War Banner. This time it's a generic gladiator. The Gangs of Rome figures have interesting bases. They all come with MDF bases with the regular fighter bases having slots cut into them for what I'm pretty sure are HP tokens. neat idea.

The camo looks great, especially on the grenadier.

But I gotta ask the rifleman: Arnie, are you okay? Are you okay, Arnie?

He's just a smooth criminal.

Highlord Tamburlaine gave me an incomplete set of Asterian Kalyshi a while back and I finally got tired of staring at them all unpainted. The figures are odd. Clearly, Mantic's take on the Exodite concept, though taken in a somewhat different direction. The Asterians went all amazon warriors as opposed to GW's dinosaur riding space knights. The funny thing though is that the men are just as scantily clad as the women. Probably why most people didn't exactly take to these guys and gals. It's almost like they're wearing nothing at all. Nothing at all. Nothing at all....

Stupid sexy space elf.

I kept the colors pretty much the same as what I used on my Marionettes. Maybe someday I'll actually go back and paint more of my Asterians.

Nice work on the space elf. I, too, have a pile of them, but it's been a while since I've wanted to play anything SF, so they are way down at the bottom of the list.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

I decided to paint something a bit different. Something to break up all of the realworld soldiers and Space Marines (and the odd Kalyshi). On a whim I picked up a Necron Cryptek on the weekend. I haven't really painted Necrons before, so I thought I'd give it a shot. He was a decent change of pace, but felt a bit too much like trying to paint an Imperial Knight on a smaller scale, what with all the gunmetal and all.

Here he is.

You can click the picture for a much larger view with zoom in my gallery.

I wanted to go for more of a teal color, but the paint I used wound up coming out more light blue than teal. Oh well. Also weird, the green I used for his staff was super thin. I isn't supposed to be like that, but no matter how much shaking I did, it still came out super thin and transparent. The result was that I got a metallic green staff blade! I layered it with a Biel-Tan Green wash a few times to help darken it up and make it look a bit better. The results overall were... okay. I'm not too sure how I feel about this guy. He looks decent enough, but I know I could've done better. Chances are good he won't be staying in my collection long term.

He's so colorful and lively. Awesome.

Which green did you use? I had a similar issue with Emerald green, except after painting 90% of my samurai with it working as a wash it suddenly gained some medium and doesn't look consistent..

It was Vallejo Dark Green, color number 72.028. I think it was part of the Games Color line. It definitely shouldn't come out so thin and transparent.

I have a bottle of that very paint. It's only ever been useful as a wash for me.

I think he looks pretty good!

My bottle of Vallejo Dark Green is uselessly thin as well, we must have all got part of the same bad batch.

Amusingly enough I tossed my dark green out about a week ago while Kondo'ing through my table.

What the hell is wrong with that paint?

Also start working on those Ambots...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

So, how about some new photos?

Friday is my last day of training for work, then it's off to my permanent work site. Once that happens, I won't have to be going to bed quite so early, which means I should be able to paint more. I've got plenty of stuff to work on.

So, how about one of Anvil's Daughters of the Burning Rose? I bet you haven't seen any of these painted up aside from the promo pieces Anvil made to promote the Kickstarter. So far, I only have one done, but I've got a full squad that I will eventually get to. Heroes, too. I decided to paint them to match my Shadow Keeper Custodes. That way I can run Talons of the Emperor if I wanted.

So, she's going to pretty much be my painting guide for the rest of the squad. Now, I know it looks like her armor is black. It isn't. It's actually a very dark metallic silver. I painted her exactly the same as how I did my Shadow Keepers, so depending on the lighting, the armor looks black, but has a nice metallic sheen to it.

My parents found this Primaris Lietenant for me on their last European excursion. I still need to paint some insignias on him, but I've just been too lazy to do it.

I also started painting some Vanguard Infiltrators to go with my Raptors. These guys are pretty well suited to the Raptor's battle doctrine. Focusing on stealth, ambushes, and infiltration is just about perfect for them. I decided I'll be painting them to match my Reivers, with the Casrkin style orangish camo over green armor.

Finally, I've started making some new Blood Pact soldiers. My old greatcoat wearing, shotgun toting guys had been sold off a long time ago. I recently came across a small bits company by the name of Reptilian Overlords who have some pretty cool looking bits available, including these swanky heretic parts. The troops are made using Reptilian Overlord's head, torso, and shoulderpads. The arms, legs, and guns are Anvil Industry, and the equipment packs are mostly GW.

I like the way they came out, but they required a fair bit of work to get the parts to mesh together.

One final bit that was not advertised with the others, was an officer's head. So, having that and knowing that the Blood Pact have Commissars of a sort, I had to make them a Commissar.

This guy uses a Mad Robot torso, Victoria Lamb arms, and the Reptilian Overlords head.

I discovered some leftover Blood Pact Maxmini heads that I had from my original project. I'm kind of thinking that maybe when I get through a few of these projects, I might try and make a second squad with some less kitted out guys.

They look astonishing - and, crucially, "real". You've melded the parts together perfectly.

Definitely agree, the bloodpact guys look like stock figures (in a good way )with the attention you’ve paid to get the parts together.

The Blood Pact do look really legit, impressive job sourcing bits and coaxing them together. The not-commissar is a nice flourish, I can't remember seeing one in mini-form before.

Yeah that's some excellent kit bashing on those Blood Pact guys!

Also nice to see the Burning Rose lady painted up too.
I backed their Kickstarter too for a few character minis, but kinda lost interest in them before they arrived.

Now that I'm back home for a bit, hopefully I'll have time to bash together another Pact soldier or two. In the meantime, I painted some 15mm models, which I haven't done for quite a long time. Conflict Horizon put out a whole bunch of new mechs and I absolutely had to get some.

So, first, we have the Doberman. This thing has a funky design. digitigrade legs, tiny head, funky gaps in the frame, it's just weird looking and I love it.

The other one I got was the Powerman 9000 NEL. It's a loader mech! I love loader mechs! This guy is one of three variants they make. One has a friggin' crane! The model itself is very basic. It is, after all, a logistics machine meant for loading cargo. It did come with some options for hands though. Pincer, loader forks, grabby claws, and more humanoid hands, in case you wanted to have one being used by armed insurgents or local militia that's been armed with a firearm or melee weapon.

I'm going to have to eventually get the other two variants for my civilians.
